Did Mitt Romney’s religion—Mormonism—help or hurt him in his campaigns for the presidency? While Romney’s religious affiliation was generally viewed as an electoral liability, Americans’ ambivalence about Mormons presented the possibility that, depending on framing, it could be neutralized or could perhaps even become a political asset. Survey experiments during both Romney’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns suggest that although Romney’s religion was a detriment when he ran the first time, it had largely ceased to be an issue in 2012. Although Mormonism did not have much effect on Romney’s performance at the polls in the general election of 2012, however, Romney’s candidacy has had an effect on perceptions of Mormonism. Supersymmetry and Supercoherent States of a Nonrelativistic Free Particle

Coordinate atypical representation of the orthosymplectic superalgebra osp(2/2) in a Hilbert superspace of square integrable functions constructed in a special way is given. The quantum nonrelativistic free particle Hamiltonian is an element of this superalgebra which turns out to be a dynamical superalgebra for this system. The supercoherent states, defined by means of a supergroup displacement operator, are explicitly constructed. These are the coordinate representation of the known atypical abstract super group $OSp(2/2)$ coherent states. We interpret obtained results from the classical mechanics viewpoint as a model of classical particle which is immovable in the even sector of the phase superspace and is in rectilinear movement (in the appropriate coordinate system) in its odd sector

Data processing improvements for the Skylab S-191 EREP spectrometer

The characteristics of the S-191 spectrometer (filter wheel infrared spectrometer) are discussed. Inherent deficiencies in previous spectrometers are described and the techniques for correcting the deficiencies are explained. The radiance errors caused by error in wavelength are identified and the effects on the accuracy of the spectrometer are described. It is stated that the most important source of error in the S-191 spectrometer is off-band radiation in which the detected radiation is far from the wavelength which is expected to be detected by the sensor at that particular time. Adolescent wellbeing and social media use

Section A: Presents a narrative literature review using a systematic search methodology of studies examining statistical moderators of social media use and adolescent wellbeing. The review revealed multiple moderators with gender as the most consistent. Clinical recommendations include increasing awareness of moderators associated with harmful effects in adolescents. Research recommendations are made including the need for validated passive social media use measures, greater to attention to a wider range of moderators and the need to adopt measures that capture adolescents’ responses to specific content or qualities of social media interactions. Section B: Presents a cross-sectional study of the relationship between social media use and social anxiety in a sample of 76 UK adolescents. Several hypotheses were tested relating to social media use and social anxiety, including the moderating role of age. Hypothetical vignettes were used to explore the cognitive, emotional and behavioural responses to social media scenarios. Results show social anxiety was significantly associated with investment and passive use of social media, and both negative cognitive appraisal and emotional responses to vignettes. Age was also found to moderate the relationship between negative cognitive appraisal and passive social media use. Findings are discussed in terms of adolescents who may be more vulnerable to harmful effects on social media. Clinical and research implications are considered
