O programa de melhoramento genético do feijoeiro-comum da Embrapa Arroz e Feijão têm direcionado os seus trabalhados para o desenvolvimento de cultivares mais responsivas as variações ambientais, mantendo a produtividade agregada a outras características de interesse. Dentre elas, está o teor de fibra no grão, que é um componente importante na alimentação humana, por exercer efeito benéfico na saúde. O objetivo do trabalho foi comparar o desempenho de famílias obtidas por diferentes métodos de condução de populações segregantes para teor de fibra bruta em feijoeiro comum
Impurity-induced diffusion bias in epitaxial growth
We introduce two models for the action of impurities in epitaxial growth. In
the first, the interaction between the diffusing adatoms and the impurities is
``barrier''-like and, in the second, it is ``trap''-like. For the barrier
model, we find a symmetry breaking effect that leads to an overall down-hill
current. As expected, such a current produces Edwards-Wilkinson scaling. For
the trap model, no symmetry breaking occurs and the scaling behavior appears to

Discovery of the broad-lined Type Ic SN 2013cq associated with the very energetic GRB 130427A
Long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) at z < 1 are in most cases found to be
accompanied by bright, broad-lined Type Ic supernovae (SNe Ic-BL). The
highest-energy GRBs are mostly located at higher redshifts, where the
associated SNe are hard to detect observationally. Here we present early and
late observations of the optical counterpart of the very energetic GRB 130427A.
Despite its moderate redshift z = 0.3399+/-0.0002, GRB 130427A is at the high
end of the GRB energy distribution, with an isotropic-equivalent energy release
of Eiso ~ 9.6x10^53 erg, more than an order of magnitude more energetic than
other GRBs with spectroscopically confirmed SNe. In our dense photometric
monitoring, we detect excess flux in the host-subtracted r-band light curve,
consistent with what expected from an emerging SN, ~0.2 mag fainter than the
prototypical SN 1998bw. A spectrum obtained around the time of the SN peak
(16.7 days after the GRB) reveals broad undulations typical of SNe Ic-BL,
confirming the presence of a SN, designated SN 2013cq. The spectral shape and
early peak time are similar to those of the high expansion velocity SN 2010bh
associated with GRB 100316D. Our findings demonstrate that high-energy
long-duration GRBs, commonly detected at high redshift, can also be associated
with SNe Ic-BL, pointing to a common progenitor mechanism.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, 1 table, accepted for publication in Ap
Membership Determination of Open Cluster M48 Based on BATC Thirteen-Band Photometry
Beijing-Arizona-Taiwan-Connecticut (BATC) multi-band photometric data in the
field of open cluster M48 are used to determine its membership. By comparing
observed spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of stars with theoretical ones,
membership probabilities of 750 stars with limiting magnitude of 15.0 in BATC
band ( \AA) are determined. 323 stars with membership
probabilities higher than 30% are considered as candidate members of M48.
Comparing membership probabilities of 229 common stars obtained by the present
method and the proper-motion based methods, a 80% agreement among these methods

Beyond conventional factorization: Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with radial oscillator spectrum
The eigenvalue problem of the spherically symmetric oscillator Hamiltonian is
revisited in the context of canonical raising and lowering operators. The
Hamiltonian is then factorized in terms of two not mutually adjoint factorizing
operators which, in turn, give rise to a non-Hermitian radial Hamiltonian. The
set of eigenvalues of this new Hamiltonian is exactly the same as the energy
spectrum of the radial oscillator and the new square-integrable eigenfunctions
are complex Darboux-deformations of the associated Laguerre polynomials.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
Validation of Phonon Physics in the CDMS Detector Monte Carlo
The SuperCDMS collaboration is a dark matter search effort aimed at detecting
the scattering of WIMP dark matter from nuclei in cryogenic germanium targets.
The CDMS Detector Monte Carlo (CDMS-DMC) is a simulation tool aimed at
achieving a deeper understanding of the performance of the SuperCDMS detectors
and aiding the dark matter search analysis. We present results from validation
of the phonon physics described in the CDMS-DMC and outline work towards

Absorption of phi mesons in near-threshold proton-nucleus reactions
In the framework of the nuclear spectral function approach for incoherent
primary proton--nucleon and secondary pion--nucleon production processes we
study the inclusive meson production in the interaction of 2.83 GeV
protons with nuclei. In particular, the A-dependences of the absolute and
relative meson yields are investigated within the different scenarios
for its in-medium width as well as for the cross section ratio . Our model calculations take into account
the acceptance window of the ANKE facility used in a recent experiment
performed at COSY. They show that the pion--nucleon production channel
contributes distinctly to the creation in heavy nuclei in the chosen
kinematics and, hence, has to be taken into consideration on close examination
of the dependences of the phi meson yields on the target mass number with the
aim to get information on its width in the medium. They also demonstrate that
the experimentally unknown ratio has a weak effect on the A-dependence of the relative meson
production cross section at incident energy of present interest, whereas it is
found to be appreciably sensitive to the phi in-medium width, which means that
this relative observable can indeed be useful to help determine the above width
from the direct comparison the results of our calculations with the future data
from the respective ANKE-at-COSY experiment.Comment: 16 pages, 9 figure
Characterization of SuperCDMS 1-inch Ge Detectors
The newly commissioned SuperCDMS Soudan experiment aims to search for WIMP dark matter with a sensitivity to cross sections of 5×10^(−45)cm^2 and larger (90% CL upper limit). This goal is facilitated by a new set of germanium detectors, 2.5 times more massive than the ones used in the CDMS-II experiment, and with a different athermal phonon sensor layout that eliminates radial degeneracy in position reconstruction of high radius events. We present characterization data on these detectors, as well as improved techniques for correcting position-dependent variations in pulse shape across the detector. These improvements provide surface-event discrimination sufficient for a reach of 5×10^(−45)cm^2
Analysis of the low-energy electron-recoil spectrum of the CDMS experiment
We report on the analysis of the low-energy electron-recoil spectrum from the
CDMS II experiment using data with an exposure of 443.2 kg-days. The analysis
provides details on the observed counting rate and possible background sources
in the energy range of 2 - 8.5 keV. We find no significant excess in the
counting rate above background, and compare this observation to the recent DAMA
results. In the framework of a conversion of a dark matter particle into
electromagnetic energy, our 90% confidence level upper limit of 0.246
events/kg/day at 3.15 keV is lower than the total rate above background
observed by DAMA by 8.9. In absence of any specific particle physics
model to provide the scaling in cross section between NaI and Ge, we assume a
Z^2 scaling. With this assumption the observed rate in DAMA differs from the
upper limit in CDMS by 6.8. Under the conservative assumption that the
modulation amplitude is 6% of the total rate we obtain upper limits on the
modulation amplitude a factor of ~2 less than observed by DAMA, constraining
some possible interpretations of this modulation.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
