The valuation of clean spread options: linking electricity, emissions and fuels
The purpose of the paper is to present a new pricing method for clean spread options, and to illustrate its main features on a set of numerical examples produced by a dedicated computer code. The novelty of the approach is embedded in the use of a structural model as opposed to reduced-form models which fail to capture properly the fundamental dependencies between the economic factors entering the production process

Benign fibrous histiocytoma of bone in a paediatric population: a report of 6 cases
Case records and radiological investigations of six children with benign fibrous histiocytoma were studied retrospectively. BFH occurred in the femur (n=2), tibia (n=2) and fibula (n=2). Clinically, patients reported pain from the lesion lasting several months (mean 6months). The pain was not associated with pathological fracture in any patient. On X-rays, the lesions appeared as lytic and sharply demarcated with a sclerotic rim and fine trabeculations. The reported cases were located in the metaphysis and the diaphysis of the long bones. The tumour was restricted to bone, without periosteal or soft tissue reaction. Treatment consisted of careful intralesional curettage of the lesion; the defect was thereafter filled with bone bank graft or injectable phosphocalcic cement. The length of follow-up ranged from 24months to 4.75years (mean 35.2months). One case presented with recurrence of the disease and required successful repeat intralesional curettage. Benign fibrous histiocytoma is probably underestimated among patients less than 20years of age. This diagnosis should be considered in any child or teenager who presents with a non-ossifying fibroma accompanied by unexplainable pain or a rapid growing. Effect of doping on the modification of polycrystalline silicon by spontaneous reduction of diazonium salts
International audienceThe chemical modification of doped polycrystalline silicon materials (N+, N++ and P++) and silicon (1 0 0) and (1 1 1) used as references is investigated by spontaneous reduction of diazonium salts. The effectiveness of the grafting process on all polySi surfaces is shown by AFM and XPS analyses. The effect of substrate doping on the efficiency of the electrografting process is compared by using the thicknesses of the deposited organic films. For a better accuracy, two methods are used to estimate the thicknesses: XPS and the coupling of a O2 plasma etching with AFM measurement. Structural characteristics of the poly-Si films were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-ray diffraction to find a correlation between the structure of the material and its reactivity. Different parameters that could have an impact on the efficiency of the grafting procedure are discussed. The observed differences between differently doped silicon surfaces is rather limited, this is in agreement with the radical character of the reacting species
Subcellular investigation of photosynthesis-driven carbon assimilation in the symbiotic reef coral Pocillopora damicornis.
Reef-building corals form essential, mutualistic endosymbiotic associations with photosynthetic Symbiodinium dinoflagellates, providing their animal host partner with photosynthetically derived nutrients that allow the coral to thrive in oligotrophic waters. However, little is known about the dynamics of these nutritional interactions at the (sub)cellular level. Here, we visualize with submicrometer spatial resolution the carbon and nitrogen fluxes in the intact coral-dinoflagellate association from the reef coral Pocillopora damicornis by combining nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry (NanoSIMS) and transmission electron microscopy with pulse-chase isotopic labeling using [(13)C]bicarbonate and [(15)N]nitrate. This allows us to observe that (i) through light-driven photosynthesis, dinoflagellates rapidly assimilate inorganic bicarbonate and nitrate, temporarily storing carbon within lipid droplets and starch granules for remobilization in nighttime, along with carbon and nitrogen incorporation into other subcellular compartments for dinoflagellate growth and maintenance, (ii) carbon-containing photosynthates are translocated to all four coral tissue layers, where they accumulate after only 15 min in coral lipid droplets from the oral gastroderm and within 6 h in glycogen granules from the oral epiderm, and (iii) the translocation of nitrogen-containing photosynthates is delayed by 3 h.
IMPORTANCE: Our results provide detailed in situ subcellular visualization of the fate of photosynthesis-derived carbon and nitrogen in the coral-dinoflagellate endosymbiosis. We directly demonstrate that lipid droplets and glycogen granules in the coral tissue are sinks for translocated carbon photosynthates by dinoflagellates and confirm their key role in the trophic interactions within the coral-dinoflagellate association

We propose an experiment (Mu3e) to search for the lepton flavour violating
decay mu+ -> e+e-e+. We aim for an ultimate sensitivity of one in 10^16
mu-decays, four orders of magnitude better than previous searches. This
sensitivity is made possible by exploiting modern silicon pixel detectors
providing high spatial resolution and hodoscopes using scintillating fibres and

SENSE: A comparison of photon detection efficiency and optical crosstalk of various SiPM devices
This paper describes a comparison of photon detection efficiency and optical
crosstalk measurements performed by three partners: Geneva University, Catania
Observatory and Nagoya University. The measurements were compared for three
different SiPM devices with different active areas: from 9 up to 93.6
produced by Hamamatsu. The objective of this work is to establish the
measurements and analysis procedures for calculating the main SiPM parameters
and their precision. This work was done in the scope of SENSE project which
aims to build roadmap for the last developments in field of sensors for low
light level detection

Finite-Temperature Charge-Ordering Transition and Fluctuation Effects in Quasi-One-Dimensional Electron Systems at Quarter Filling
Finite-temperature charge-ordering phase transition in quasi one-dimensional
(1D) molecular conductors is investigated theoretically, based on a quasi 1D
extended Hubbard model at quarter filling with interchain Coulomb repulsion
. The interchain term is treated within mean-field approximation
whereas the 1D fluctuations in the chains are fully taken into account by the
bosonization theory. Three regions are found depending on how the charge
ordered state appears at finite temperature when is introduced:
(i) weak-coupling region where the system transforms from a metal to a charge
ordered insulator with finite transition temperature at a finite critical value
of ,
(ii) an intermediate region where this transition occurs by infinitesimal
due to the stability of inherent 1D fluctuation, and
(iii) strong-coupling region where the charge ordered state is realized
already in the purely 1D case, of which the transition temperature becomes
finite with infinitesimal . Analytical formula for the
