Database on nutritional composition of food fishes from India

    Get PDF
This database is the first of its kind on fish-food data in the country and is envisaged to serve as a repository of all such nutritional information on different food-fish species. This would also serve as a knowledgebase for different clientele groups, including physicians, nutritionists, planners and consumers to increase the utility of fish as a health food and in clinical nutrition as well. The nutritional information generated could also be helpful in prioritization of fish species for aquaculture depending upon their associated nutritional values

A DESIGN OF WSN BASED LOCKING SYSTEM

    No full text
This paper studied and designed a smart lock based on STM32F4 and CC2530 wireless module and proposed the overall design scheme of the system. By utilize the wireless transmission characteristics of ZigBee module, we can make the STM32F4 as the main control chip, and CC2530 as the wireless transmission module to realize the control of smart door lock. The smart lock consists of a smart lock device and a CC2530 wireless transmission module. The structure of the intelligent lock device mainly includes the module of door lock control chip, monitoring module, lock tongue drive module and power supply circuit. The intelligent lock device uses the STM32F4 microcontroller as the door lock control chip, sends an unlock instruction to the CC2530 module A by using the USART serial port, and then sends the received instruction to the CC2530 module B connected with the smart lock by the CC2530 module A. Control the opening and closing of the smart lock device

Permeazione di vanillina ed acido ferulico in soluzione acquosa attraverso una membrana polimerica.

    No full text

The effects of Rights Issue Announcements on Stock Returns for Firms Listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange

    No full text
ABSTRACT Rights issue is a secondary equity issue in which new additional shares are issued to the existing shareholders in exchange for cash (capital) needed by a publicly quoted company, either for expansion purposes or to finance company operations. The rights are issued to the shareholders in the proportion of their existing holdings. Empirical studies give mixed results on the direction of stock returns upon a rights issue announcement. Since there has been no consensus on how capital markets generally respond to rights issue announcement, this study investigates the effect of rights issue announcement on stock returns of companies listed at an organised exchange. The study adopts an event study technique on a sample of twelve companies which issued rights between January 1, 2007 and August 31, 2014. Secondary data on share prices is collected from the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) database. The study establishes that stock prices and returns changes significantly in the post announcement period than in the preannouncement period. Analysis of mean abnormal return reveales that rights issue announcement results into either positive or negative stock return. Based on the cumulative average abnormal return (CAAR), the study concludes that rights issue announcement results into a negative abnormal stock return for the listed firms. The study therefore recommends that the investment banks and listed companies should consider the negative abnormal stock price reactions and the subsequent negative abnormal stock return changes to the announcement of rights issue while setting the discounted rights issue prices so as to ensure that during the issue period, the stock trading prices do not fall below the rights issue price, a fact that can lead to the collapse of the rights issue exercise. The study recommends further academic exploration on the effects of repeat rights issues on stock prices and returns so as to understand the possible response of investors to seasonal issues

Apport de la simulation au pilotage de la performance industrielle

    No full text

Enhanced yield of oleuropein from olive leaves using ultrasound-assisted extraction

    No full text
The aim of this study was to optimize the extraction of oleuropein from olive leaves through a systematic study of the effects of different parameters of ultrasound-assisted extraction (USAE) on the oleuropein yield, in comparison with conventional maceration extraction. A range of operational parameters were investigated for both conventional maceration extraction and USAE: solvent type, olive leaf mass-to-solvent volume ratio, and extraction time and temperature. Oleuropein yield was determined using high-performance liquid chromatography, with total phenolics content also determined. The optimized conditions (water–ethanol, 30:70 [v/v]; leaf-to-solvent ratio, 1:5 [w/v]; 2 hr; 25°C) provided ~30% greater oleuropein extraction yield compared to conventional maceration extraction. The total phenolics content obtained using the optimized USAE conditions was greater than reported in other studies. USAE is shown to be an efficient alternative to conventional maceration extraction techniques, as not only can it offer increased oleuropein extraction yield, but it also shows a number of particular advantages, such as the possibility of lower volumes of solvent and lower extraction times, with the extraction carried out at lower temperatures. © 2018 The Authors.
