The symmetric and asymmetric impacts of cognitive attitude components on overall mass tourism destination image: gender comparison

    Get PDF
Mass tourism has become the preferred travel type for millions of people. All-inclusive (AI) initially emerged as anaccommodation type for mass tourism destinations but has evolved to become its own form of tourism. Factorsmotivating tourists towards a mass-tourism destination offering all-inclusive products may vary according tomarket segments and demographic attributes. Research shows that cognitive factors that affect a destination’simage, which is one factor that attracts tourists, are not symmetrical in all cases. This study examines the effect ofcognitive attitude components on the general destination image perception of tourists by using AsymmetricImpact-Performance Analysis (AIPA) to assess Antalya, a prominent AI mass-tourism destination. Regressionanalysis results provide important insights for destination management organisations (DMO) by classifying theasymmetric effects of each destination’s cognitive attitude component on overall destination image perception, according to gender. No sponso

In the study, sweetgum tree (Liquidambar orientalis), which is an endemic species that grows in Mugla, Koycegiz and is applied for medicinal purposes among the public, its leaves was examined. The antioxidant ability of the extract obtained from dried plant leaves has been evaluated using a variety of methods which are Total Phenolic Substance, Total Flavonoid, FRAP, CUPRAC, DPPH, and ABTS(+). Simultaneously, the antimicrobial activity of the plant extract was examined using disk diffusion and microdilution methods to determine the minimum inhibitor concentration (MIC). While the total phenolic content of Liquidambar orientalis extract was 96.34 mg GAE/g, the total amount of flavonoid was 2.15 mg QE/g. When the results of the antioxidant analysis were examined, it was observed that it had a good level of antioxidant activity with the results of 49.25 +/- 0.54 mmol TEAC/g according to the CUPRAC method, 39.83 +/- 0.25 mu mol Fe/g according to the FRAP method, 80.34 mu g/mL according to the DPPH method and 51.20 mu g/mL according to the ABTS(+) method. As a result of the antimicrobial analysis, it was indicated that L. orientalis extract was more effective on Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), which is a gram-positive bacterium and causes a wide variety of clinical diseases. Even, L. orientalis extract with an MIC value of 10 mg/mL has been found to have a higher antibacterial effect than Amoxicillin+Clavulanic acid, which is used as a standard drug in that field. This research is significant because it is the first to report the determination of all biological activities for L. orientalis, including total polyphenols, flavonoid contents, antioxidant content, and antimicrobial activity

This study was carried out in order to determine some biological characteristics of the fish species of Spicara flexuosa, which is distributed on the Eastern Black Sea coast, and to contribute to the management of the picarel in all the seas of our country. Between October 2015 and September 2016, 599 fish samples were obtained and examined in the laboratory. It was determined that the examined individuals were distributed between the ages of I-VII which 31.22% of the population was male and 68.78% was female. The minimummaximum total length values of the samples were between 8.7 and 21.8 cm; and the weight values ranged from 7.1 to 129.94 g. It has been determined that the mean total length of males is statistically different from that of females (P<0.05). Von Bertalanffy growth equilibrium was calculated as “L∞=22.71 cm TL, K=0.243 year-1, t0=-2.306 year-1; W∞=118.27 g” for females, “L∞=38.34 cm TL, K=0.063 year -1, t0 = -6.381 year-1; W∞=755.37 g” for males, and “L∞=33.42 cm TL, K=0.080 year -1, t0=-5.381 year-1; W∞=401.24 g” for all individuals. The length-weight relation of all individuals was found as W= 0.0118*L2.9727 (R2 =0.9487). When the ratio of gonadosomatic index (GSI) data and gonadal maturity stages were examined over the year, it was determined that the reproduction of the picarel in the Black Sea occurred between June and Septembe

Through the data that emerge with this research, under the example of A. R. Penck, it has been aimed to reveal that the modern Western art was shaped also by those mysterious documents that reflect Turkish culture. In this study, the works of the Neo-expressionist artist A. R. Penck are chosen among a few artists who had adopted the same style, and the Turkish cave paintings and stamps alongside with the artist’s works have been comparatively scrutinized. To give an example out of the signs and illustrations that he had used in his works, it is seen that he had used many symbols in accordance to his artistic style that belong to Turks such as Kün-Ay stamp, the four arrow sign, the single dot inside the circle that indicates that an oath has been taken, countable stone symbols of planets, shaman and tengri figures

Therapy Induced Senescence Promote Expression of Death Receptors in Breast Cancer Cells

    Get PDF
Chemotherapeutic agents that cause DNA damage also induce cellular senescence known as therapy-induced senescence (TIS). Cells undergoing senescence may exert detrimental effects by promoting tumor progression in healthy cells or supporting metastases in cancer cells due to senesence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), involving secretion of chemokines, cytokines, metalloproteinases, and growth factors. Death receptors belong to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily and implicated in induction of apoptosis via activation of extrinsic pathway. The most recognized death receptors are FAS (CD95), TNFR1 and TRAIL-R1 %252F 2 (DR4-DR5) etc. and capable of directly inducing apoptosis in the cell. In this study we aim to investigate the expression of cell death receptors in response to TIS of breast cancer cells for their potential use in elimination of senescent cells. Doxorubicin and etoposide were used to induce senescence selectively in MCF7 breast cancer cell line. Senescence induction was confirmed by beta%253B-galactosidase staining and cell cycle analysis. Activations of p53, p21, and gamma%253B-H2AX and expression levels of cell death receptors (FAS (CD95), TNFR1-2 and DR5 were tested by western blot analysis. Apoptosis was measured by Annexin V%252F7AAD analysis. Here, we show that chemotherapy agents etoposide and doxorubicin induced senescence by arresting MCF-12A and MCF-7 cells in G1 and G2%252FM phases of cell cycle., respectively. In addition, Induction of senescence is confirmed by SA-beta%253B-gal staining and by activation of g-H2AX, p53 and p21 proteins. Neither etoposide nor doxorubicin induced significant apoptosis in MCF12A or MCF-7 cells. Importantly, TIS increased the protein levels of TNFR1, TNFR2 and DR5 receptors selectively in MCF-7 cells but not in MCF-12A cells. These data suggest that chemotherapy agents induce senescence increased the expression of death receptors in breast cancer cell line MCF-7 thus provide a basis for further investigation of death receptor mediated targeting of senescent cells as potential therapeutic strategy

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is to determine whether the generations make a difference in the perception of destination image of tourists. The study is carried between July-October 2019 at Antalya Airport International Terminals with 806 departing tourists. While CHAID analysis is performed for discovering age groups, multiple correspondence analysis is used to detect intersections and distinctions among destination image perceptions of tourists from different generations. Baby boomers have the highest destination experience and have more positive evaluation compared to Gen-X. Gen-Z outstands as a group with the least positive perception of destination and country image. Gen-Y has the most positive evaluation, thus some of the women in Gen-Y are young mothers and prefer all-inclusive system at their holiday. No sponso

DUBLINE: A Deep Unfolding Network for B-line Detection in Lung Ultrasound Images

In the context of lung ultrasound, the detection of B-lines, which are indicative of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary edema, plays a pivotal role in clinical diagnosis. Current methods still rely on visual inspection by experts. Vision-based automatic B-line detection methods have been developed, but their performance has yet to improve in terms of both accuracy and computational speed. This paper presents a novel approach to posing B-line detection as an inverse problem via deep unfolding of the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM). It tackles the challenges of data labelling and model training in lung ultrasound image analysis by harnessing the capabilities of deep neural networks and model-based methods. Our objective is to substantially enhance diagnostic accuracy while ensuring efficient real-time capabilities. The results show that the proposed method runs more than 90 times faster than the traditional model-based method and achieves an F1 score that is 10.6% higher.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, conferenc

Relationship between diagnosis of adhd in offspring and current and retrospective self-reports of parental adhd

    Get PDF
This study aimed to discover the relationship between parental self-reports of ADHD symptoms and the diagnosis of ADHD in offspring, to demonstrate the extent to which parental ADHD symptoms predict ADHD diagnosis in offspring, to examine the contribution of adult ADHD scales to ADHD diagnosis, and to provide findings on the psychometric utility of adult ADHD scales. The sample consisted of 6-12-year-old boys diagnosed with ADHD (n = 149), boys in the control group (n = 47) and both parents (n = 392). Amongst the many exclusion criteria was the comorbidity of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Parental self-reports of current ADHD symptoms were obtained using the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Scale (ADD/ADHD Scale), and past symptoms were retrospectively obtained using the Wender-Utah Rating Scale (WUR Scale). For children diagnosed with ADHD, the frequency of parents with ADHD symptoms was higher than the parents without ADHD symptoms; the significance was derived from the group in which both parents displayed ADHD symptoms. The ADHD symptom scores of the parents led to a high accuracy level when predicting ADHD in children (sensitivity) but led to a low accuracy level when classifying children without any diagnosis in the control group (specificity). The study disclosed the psychometric strengths and weaknesses of the ADD/ADHD and WUR scales for measuring parental ADHD symptoms and provided original findings on their psychometric properties
