    En aquesta ponència presentem els treballs de recerca duts a terme els darrers anys a l'Institut de Cibernètica en el camp de la bioenginyeria. Cal destacar la simulació en computador híbrid del sistema càrdio-vascular, l'anàlisi i caracterització de pròtesis valvulars cardíaques i el processament automàtic de l'electrocardiograma del feix de His, dins l'àrea de la bioenginyeria cardíaca. La recerca en bioenginyeria pulmonar ha estat centrada en el disseny d'equips que col•laboren en 1'exploració funcional pulmonar.This paper presents the bioengineering research carried out at the Institut de Cibernètica the last years. We can remark the cardiovascular system simulation by hybrid computer, the prosthetic cardiac valves characterization, the His bundle electrogram on-line processing and different devices developed to explore the pulmonary function

    L'Economia del Bé Comú ( ebc ) representa un model, que sense qüestionar la llibertat del mercat, proposa una visió més humana de l'economia, a través del bé comú i la coope- ració. Es tracta d'un model global i integral que s'està desenvolupant sobretot en el camp de la microeconomia. L'objectiu del treball és, després d'identificar les característiques bàsiques del model de l' ebc , justificar els seus fonaments teòrics des del punt de vista orga- nitzatiu, en particular, des de la teoria dels stakeholders. El Balanç del Bé Comú, com a eina que val per a implementar el model de l' ebc , utilitza una matriu de doble entrada, que ser- veix per a mesurar l'aportació de les empreses a la consecució dels principis dels drets humans a través de la seua relació amb els stakeholders

    Estudo de 7 cultivares de gladíolos (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) em duas profundidades de plantio

    Corms of second cycle from the following cultivars: Havaii, Snowprincess, Han Van Megeren, Alfred Nobel, Aristocrat, Happy End, and Rosa de Lima, were cultivated in 5 and 15 centimetre depth in dark red "latossol" of good fertility in ESALQ - Piracicaba - SP. The results were analysed as: quantity and average weight of corms and cormels; quantity and quality of stipe and spike floral. It was verified: The depth of 15 centimetre was the best. The depth of 5 centimetre causes excessive stumbling and it presented some advantages on the prodution of cormels. It is significant the difference of performance among the cultivars.Bulbos de 2º ciclo dos , cultivares: Havaii, Snowprincess, Han Van Megeren, Alfred Nobel, Aristocrat, Happy end e Rosa de Lima, foram cultivados a 5 e 15 cm de profundidade em latossol vermelho escuro de boa fértilidade na ESALQ - Piracicaba, SP. Os resultados foram analisados para: quantidade e peso médio dos bulbos e cormilhos; quantidade e qualidade das hastes e espigas florais. Verificou-se que: a profundidade de 15 cm foi a melhor; a profundidade de 5 cm causa excessivo tombamento; apresentou alguma vantagem somente na produção de cormilhos; é significativa a diferença de performance entre os cultivares

    Currently, tissue cultures of species of agricultural importance have wide applicability in industrial production processes. Tissue culture is a name given to a set of techniques that allow the regeneration of cells, tissues and organs of plants, from segments of plant organs or tissues, using nutrient solutions in aseptic and controlled environment. This regeneration is based on the totipotency of plant cells. Totipotency is a capability indicating that plant cells, in different times, may express the potential to form a new multicellular individual. Tissue culture appears to be a good alternative to conventional propagation, requiring less physical space, with high multiplication rate, without incidence of pests and diseases during cultivation, and enabling higher control of the variables involved. Thus, in the in vitro environment, with the required stimuli and appropriate conditions, different cell types express different behaviors, possibly leading to cell multiplication and differentiation into a specific tissue, characterized by a form and a function, which may lead to the regeneration of a new individual

    Energy relaxation of an excited electron gas in quantum wires: many-body electron LO-phonon coupling

    We theoretically study energy relaxation via LO-phonon emission in an excited one-dimensional electron gas confined in a GaAs quantum wire structure. We find that the inclusion of phonon renormalization effects in the theory extends the LO-phonon dominated loss regime down to substantially lower temperatures. We show that a simple plasmon-pole approximation works well for this problem, and discuss implications of our results for low temperature electron heating experiments in quantum wires.Comment: 10 pages, RevTex, 4 figures included.     The Shapes of Dirichlet Defects

    If the vacuum manifold of a field theory has the appropriate topological structure, the theory admits topological structures analogous to the D-branes of string theory, in which defects of one dimension terminate on other defects of higher dimension. The shapes of such defects are analyzed numerically, with special attention paid to the intersection regions. Walls (co-dimension 1 branes) terminating on other walls, global strings (co-dimension 2 branes) and local strings (including gauge fields) terminating on walls are all considered.     A profundidade de plantio dos cormilhos influi na produção e qualidade do material de propagação. Em maiores profundidades, o peso médio por unidade produzida é maior. Para produzir bulbos dos tipos jumbo até o tipo 5, a profundidade de 7,3 cm foi a melhor. A profundidade de 5,6 cm foi melhor para quantidade. Maiores profundidades produzem menor cormilhos.The depth of planting cormels has influence on production and quality of propagation material. In bigger depth the average weight per unity planted is bigger. For production of corms type: jumbo untill type 5 the depth of 7.3 cm was the best one. The depth of 5.6 cm was the best for quality. Bigger depth produce less cormels
