Physiological response and performance of tambaqui fed with diets supplemented with Amazonian nut
The present study evaluated the effectiveness of Amazonian nut (Bertholletia excelsa) as an alternative source of vegetal protein in tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) diet. Performance and physiological status of fish fed for 60 days were evaluated. Four experimental isonitrogenous diets with 36% crude protein were formulated with increasing levels of nut meal (0, 10, 20 and 30%). Results showed the same growth performance for fish fed with diet with different levels of Amazonian nut than that without this ingredient (control). Analysis of physiological parameters (hematocrit, erythrocyte number, hemoglobin concentration, hematimetric indexes, total plasma protein and plasma glucose) corroborate these results, with no significant differences among treatments. Therefore, adding up to 30% of Amazonian nut in tambaqui diet there is no negative effect on physiological homeostasis and growth performance, indicating that the Amazonian nut is a promising alternative dietary protein source ingredient for tambaqui
On the evaluation of companie’s managerial maturity / Sobre a avaliação da maturidade gerencial nas empresas
This work discusses a method for quantifying the managerial maturity in a company based on the internal evaluation of the administrative, personal and technical manager’s skills, as well as assessing the conceptual maturity existing in the company from the analysis of the perception of resources. about the topic. The method involves the weighted classification of items of interest to characterize each specific skill and the use of the Hasch Logistic Model to obtain the maturity level. The investigation demonstrates the importance of guiding training actions aiming to promote the necessary skills according to the motivational moment of the work environment
Service Level Agreements for Management Information Systems in Business and Governmental Organizations / Acordos de Nível de Serviço para Sistemas de Informação de Gestão em Organizações Comerciais e Governamentais
This work discuss the contracting of ICT services at its operational level and addresses the concept of "Service Level Agreement" (SLA) - used in the precise identification of service quality, attributions, and responsibilities of the actors, of questions for the determination of responsibilities and possible sanctions. To this end, the Management Information Systems operational maintenance service is cut, correlating the items according to the respective portions of the Cobit, ITIL, and Sarbanes-Oxley frameworks with the processes proclaimed by the Project Management Institute in its document of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) recommendations. It is concluded that operational service levek agreements based on normatives ansd recomendatons is adequate maintenance process of Management Information Systems

Rarity of monodominance in hyperdiverse Amazonian forests.
Tropical forests are known for their high diversity. Yet, forest patches do occur in the tropics where a single tree species is dominant. Such "monodominant" forests are known from all of the main tropical regions. For Amazonia, we sampled the occurrence of monodominance in a massive, basin-wide database of forest-inventory plots from the Amazon Tree Diversity Network (ATDN). Utilizing a simple defining metric of at least half of the trees ≥ 10 cm diameter belonging to one species, we found only a few occurrences of monodominance in Amazonia, and the phenomenon was not significantly linked to previously hypothesized life history traits such wood density, seed mass, ectomycorrhizal associations, or Rhizobium nodulation. In our analysis, coppicing (the formation of sprouts at the base of the tree or on roots) was the only trait significantly linked to monodominance. While at specific locales coppicing or ectomycorrhizal associations may confer a considerable advantage to a tree species and lead to its monodominance, very few species have these traits. Mining of the ATDN dataset suggests that monodominance is quite rare in Amazonia, and may be linked primarily to edaphic factors
Evaluation of movements of lower limbs in non-professional ballet dancers: hip abduction and flexion

Abstract

Background

The literature indicated that the majority of professional ballet dancers present static and active dynamic range of motion difference between left and right lower limbs, however, no previous study focused this difference in non-professional ballet dancers. In this study we aimed to evaluate active movements of the hip in non-professional classical dancers.

Methods

We evaluated 10 non professional ballet dancers (16-23 years old). We measured the active range of motion and flexibility through Well Banks. We compared active range of motion between left and right sides (hip flexion and abduction) and performed correlation between active movements and flexibility.

Results

There was a small difference between the right and left sides of the hip in relation to the movements of flexion and abduction, which suggest the dominant side of the subjects, however, there was no statistical significance. Bank of Wells test revealed statistical difference only between the 1st and the 3rd measurement. There was no correlation between the movements of the hip (abduction and flexion, right and left sides) with the three test measurements of the bank of Wells.

Conclusion

There is no imbalance between the sides of the hip with respect to active abduction and flexion movements in non-professional ballet dancers.</p
