    The classification of all single travelling wave solutions to Calogero-Degasperis-Focas equation

    Under the travelling wave transformation, Calogero-Degasperis-Focas equation was reduced to an ordinary differential equation. Using a symmetry group of one-parameter, this ODE was reduced to a second order linear inhomogeneous ODE. Furthermore, we applied the change of the variable and complete discrimination system for polynomial to solve the corresponding integrals and obtained the classification of all single travelling wave solutions to Calogero-Degasperis-Focas equation.Comment: 9 page

    Nonadiabatic quantum pumping in mesoscopic nanostructures

    We consider a nonadiabatic quantum pumping phenomena in a ballistic narrow constriction. The pumping is induced by a potential that has both spatial and temporal periodicity characterized by KK and Ω\Omega. In the zero frequency (Ω=0\Omega=0) limit, the transmission through narrow constriction exhibits valley structures due to the opening up of energy gaps in the pumping region -- a consequence of the KK periodicity. These valley structures remain robust in the regime of finite Ω\Omega, while their energies of occurrence are shifted by about ℏΩ/2\hbar\Omega/2. The direction of these energy shifts depend on the directions of both the phase-velocity of the pumping potential and the transmitting electrons. This frequency dependent feature of the valley structures gives rise to both the asymmetry in the transmission coefficients and the pumping current. An experimental setup is suggested for a possible observation of our nonadiabatic quantum pumping findings.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

    We calculate the O(αs) O(\alpha_s) radiative corrections to polarized top quark decay into a charged Higgs boson and a massive bottom quark in two variants of the two-Higgs-doublet model. The radiative corrections to the polarization asymmetry of the decay may become as large as 25 25 % . We provide analytical formulae for the unpolarized and polarized rates for mb≠0 m_b \neq 0 and for mb=0 m_b = 0 .     A Structural Model for the Coevolution of Networks and Behavior

    This paper introduces a structural model for the coevolution of networks and behavior. We characterize the equilibrium of the underlying game and adopt the Bayesian Double Metropolis-Hastings algorithm to estimate the model. We further extend the model to incorporate unobserved heterogeneity and show that ignoring unobserved heterogeneity can lead to biased estimates in simulation experiments. We apply the model to study R&D investment and collaboration decisions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and find a positive knowledge spillover effect. Our model also provides a tractable framework for a long-run key player analysis

    The Unique Effect of Depreciation on Earnings Properties: Persistence and Value Relevance of Earnings

    Prior studies document high persistence of earnings is a desirable earnings’ attribute and associated with high value relevance of earnings. Nevertheless, other studies indicate negative earnings components depress persistence of earnings. Depreciation expense constitutes a major negative earnings component for most firms. Larger depreciation could represent higher cost of utilizing resources; however, it could also represent a higher level of capital improvements and conservative accounting choice. We find firms reporting higher depreciation and amortization expense (High DP) outperform other firms (Low DP) in terms of future operating cash flows. Though the persistence of earnings is lower for High DP firms, the stock markets actually place higher valuation weight of their earnings. Our study contributes to research on earnings attributes and the role of accounting information in the stock markets. We identify potential biases of overly reliance on the persistence of earnings to evaluate a firm’s performance and to predict the stock market reactions

    Anomalous oxidation of Fe-Si alloys under a low oxygen pressure at 800 °C

    The authors acknowledge financial support by NSFC of China under the research projects (Nos. 50971129 and 51371183).Abstract The oxidation of three Fe-xSi alloys (x = 5, 9, 13 at.%) under 10−20 atm O2 at 800 °C formed in all cases SiO2 layers. For Fe-5Si this layer broke down and healed up periodically forming an anomalous internal oxidation zone with spherical and net-shaped SiO2 particles. The SiO2 layer formed on the other two alloys spalled off due to the growth and thermal stress accumulated. The critical silicon content needed for its external oxidation on Fe-Si alloys calculated according to an extension of Wagner's theory under the present experimental conditions is significantly smaller than the experimental results.PostprintPeer reviewe

    Quantitative evaluation of motor function before and after engraftment of dopaminergic neurons in a rat model of Parkinson's disease

    Although gait change is considered a useful indicator of severity in animal models of Parkinson's disease, systematic and extensive gait analysis in animal models of neurological deficits is not well established. The CatWalk-assisted automated gait analysis system provides a comprehensive way to assess a number of dynamic and static gait parameters simultaneously. In this study, we used the Catwalk system to investigate changes in gait parameters in adult rats with unilateral 6-OHDA-induced lesions and the rescue effect of dopaminergic neuron transplantation on gait function. Four weeks after 6-OHDA injection, the intensity and maximal area of contact were significantly decreased in the affected paws and the swing speed significantly decreased in all four paws. The relative distance between the hind paws also increased, suggesting that animals with unilateral 6-OHDA-induced lesions required all four paws to compensate for loss of balance function. At 8 weeks post-transplantation, engrafted dopaminergic neurons expressed tyrosine hydroxylase. In addition, the intensity, contact area, and swing speed of the four limbs increased and the distance between the hind paws decreased.
