What we (do not) know about research on innovation in hotels: a bibliometric analysis

This chapter performs a bibliometric analysis on innovation in hotels field. More specifically, it maps the current research front on innovation in hotels field based on 287 papers published in refereed journals indexed to the Scopus database. Using the VOSviewer software and the bibliographic coupling method, it was possible to identify and systematize the main research streams of this field: 1) technological innovation, 2) sustainable innovation, 3) innovative work behavior, 4) market orientation’ role in promoting innovation, 5) knowledge-based resources as a driver of innovation and performance as an outcome of innovation, 6) service innovation, 7) knowledge sharing and management as a key factor for innovation, 8) innovation ambidexterity, 9) innovation in time of crisis, and 10) learning approach as a source of innovation. Tradition, Inclusive Innovation, and Development in Rural Territories

This chapter discusses the relationship between inclusion and technological changes in the context of territorial development in all of its dimensions (social, economic, sustainable, and technological). In this context, the chapter aims to understand innovation processes used in rural territories, mainly those that are less developed. The regional innovation systems (RIS) approach is used to underline the collective nature and importance of learning networks in regions. Inclusiveness is another important element in this discussion in terms of the problems caused by exclusion and the opportunities offered by inclusion. Arguably, less innovative regions can make progress in inclusive innovation by relying on their cultural heritage. Norms, practices, and rules of virtual community of online gamers: applying the institutional theoretical lens

In this chapter, the author addresses a key question rooted in an institutional perspective: What norms, practices, and rules are evident in online gaming that facilitates the development of a virtual community of online gamers? Available studies have so far examined the institutional influences on organizations but not on virtual community. Thus, there is a compelling need to bridge fields such as IS and sociology in order to understand virtual communities of online gamers. The chapter comprises five sections: (1) examination of online gamers as an example of a virtual community; (2) brief description of institutional theory to illustrate the theoretical lens applied; (3) presentation of the methodology of the study; (4) discussion of the findings based on four different aspects: social roles and social positions, interaction rules, social control systems, and leadership; and finally (5) presentation of some implications and suggestion of future directions for study of the rapidly-growing phenomenon of online gaming
