    Nonintegrability of (2+1)-dimensional continuum isotropic Heisenberg spin system: Painlev\'e analysis

    While many integrable spin systems are known to exist in (1+1) and (2+1) dimensions, the integrability property of the physically important (2+1) dimensional isotropic Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin system in the continuum limit has not been investigated in the literature. In this paper, we show through a careful singularity structure analysis of the underlying nonlinear evolution equation that the system admits logarithmic type singular manifolds and so is of non-Painlev\'e type and is expected to be nonintegrable.Comment: 11 pages. to be published in Phys.     Comment on `Painlev\'e Integrability and Multi-wave pattern for (2+1) dimensional Long wave-Short wave Resonance Interaction system'

    In the paper by Sivatharani et al [1], the authors make a tall claim about the integrability of a 2 component (2+1) dimensional Long wave Short wave Resonance Interaction (2C(2+1)LSRI) equation with mixed sign which was already claimed to be non integrable and hence known not to satisfy Painlev\'e [2] property which the authors show to pass Painlev\'e test. We have categorically shown how the system does not pass Painlev\'e test and hence non-integrable reinforcing the claim made by Maruno et al [2]. The authors claim to derive the solutions of 2C(2+1)LSRI equation which ironically do not satisfy the equation. To top it all, the authors claim to have generated lumps and dromions which again defy their very own definition.Comment: 5 page

    Scientometric Analysis of Synthetic Fiber Literature

    A Quantitative study of research papers published in Synthetic Fiber Research from 2008-2017 was undertaken to investigate the research output in this field. The study made by applying various parameters for capturing the trend-growth pattern of the literature, Relative Growth Rate, Doubling Time, authorship pattern, Prolific author and Top ranking Journals etc., The data were obtained from scopus database. Articles published from 2008 – 2017 were taken for this study. A total of 2594 articles were published in this field with an yearly average of 259.4 articles. . Out of the 2594 articles, the majority of the articles 421 (16.23%) were published in the year 2017. The RGR in the year 2009 found to be 2.05 and in the end year 2017 found to be 0.12. This shows that the RGR declining trend is linear. Among the Authorship patterns, the major contribution of articles were from three authors 534 (20.59%). The Journal named “Advanced Materials Research” ranked in the top position in contributing articles 59 (2.28%) in this field. The highly prolific author is Monteiro S.N who has contributed 41 articles 0.47 %

    Active Vibration Control of Structures using an Impedance Matching Control Technique

    Active vibration control of structures has gained a lot of interest in recent years. This paper presents an active vibration control methodology of a structure using piezoelectric actuators. The proposed methodology is useful in practical applications where the system to be controlled is difficult to model due to the presence of complex boundary conditions. The impedance matching control technique uses a power flow approach wherein the controller is designed such that the power flow into the structure is minimized. The system transfer function is obtained from the experimental collocated actuator/sensor pair data using Eigen Realisation Algorithm (ERA). The controller is designed for the system transfer function according to impedance matching theory. The above approach is targeted towards the vibration control of wind tunnel stings, which suffer from flow-induced vibration. A wind tunnel sting model is designed and fabricated for this study. The real time implementation of the impedance matching controller has been carried out using dSPACE® Digital Signal Processor (DSP) card.     Ferrocenyl substituted chlorostilbenes and butadienes

    The readily accessible α-chlorophosphonates (OCH2CMe2CH2O)P(O)CH(Cl)---C6H4-4-R [1: R=Me (a), OMe (b), Cl (c), H (d)] react with ferrocenecarboxaldehyde in the presence of NaH [Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction] to give good yields of ferrocenyl substituted chlorostilbenes. The novel bis ferrocenyl butadiene C5H5FeC5H4---CH=CH---C(CN)CHC5H4FeC5H5 (9) as well as the ferrocenyl 2-cyano-1,3-butadienes 4-R---C6H4---CH=CH---C(CN)=CHC5H4FeC5H5 [R=Me (10a), OMe (10b), Cl (10c)] have been obtained by using the new allylphosphonate (OCH2CMe2CH2O)P(O)CH2C(CN)=CHC5H4FeC5H5 (8); the latter compound was prepared in good yields by the reaction of the Baylis-Hillman adduct, C5H5FeC5H4CH(OH)C(CN)=CH2 (7), with the chlorophosphite (OCH2CMe2CH2O)PCl. The electrochemical behavior of the ferrocenyl compounds thus synthesized has been studied; two reversible one-electron processes are observed in the case of compound 9 suggesting a cooperative interaction between the two ferrocenyl residues
