    Food Safety Knowledge and Practice Among Community in Sg. Pelek, Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan

    Food safety is a basic requirement of food quality. It is an increasingly important public health issue to prevent and control food borne illnesses. A cross-sectional study was designed to determine level of knowledge and practice on food safety, to determine the association between knowledge and practice, and also to identify the association between socio-demographic factors and practice score of the population studied. This study was conducted among adult population in Taman Bahagia, Sungai Pelek, Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. Data were collected using an interviewed structured questionnaire. A stratified random sampling was performed to obtain houses, followed by simple random sampling to select sample in the house. A total of 115 data sets were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Analysis showed that 35% of respondents have poor level of knowledge on food safety, whereas 27% of the respondents have poor level of practices on food safety. Multiple linear regression revealed that there are a significant association between education level (p<0.001), Adj b=2.57 (95% CI: 1.15, 3.99) and gender (p=0.048), Adj b=1.15 (95% CI: 0.01, 2.29) with practice score on food safety. Therefore, health promotion and education on the importance of practicing food safety at home should be focused to prevent further unwanted health effects

    Security Attributes Based Digital Rights Management

    Most real-life systems delegate responsibilities to different authorities. We apply this model to a digital rights management system, to achieve flexible security. In our model a hierarchy of authorities issues certificates that are linked by cryptographic means. This linkage establishes a chain of control, identity-attribute-rights, and allows flexible rights control over content. Typical security objectives, such as identification, authentication, authorization and access control can be realised. Content keys are personalised to detect illegal super distribution. We describe a working prototype, which we develop using standard techniques, such as standard certificates, XML and Java. We present experimental results to evaluate the scalability of the system. A formal analysis demonstrates that our design is able to detect a form of illegal super distribution

    Effectiveness of Hindman's theorem for bounded sums

    We consider the strength and effective content of restricted versions of Hindman's Theorem in which the number of colors is specified and the length of the sums has a specified finite bound. Let HTkn\mathsf{HT}^{\leq n}_k denote the assertion that for each kk-coloring cc of N\mathbb{N} there is an infinite set XNX \subseteq \mathbb{N} such that all sums xFx\sum_{x \in F} x for FXF \subseteq X and 0<Fn0 < |F| \leq n have the same color. We prove that there is a computable 22-coloring cc of N\mathbb{N} such that there is no infinite computable set XX such that all nonempty sums of at most 22 elements of XX have the same color. It follows that HT22\mathsf{HT}^{\leq 2}_2 is not provable in RCA0\mathsf{RCA}_0 and in fact we show that it implies SRT22\mathsf{SRT}^2_2 in RCA0\mathsf{RCA}_0. We also show that there is a computable instance of HT33\mathsf{HT}^{\leq 3}_3 with all solutions computing 00'. The proof of this result shows that HT33\mathsf{HT}^{\leq 3}_3 implies ACA0\mathsf{ACA}_0 in RCA0\mathsf{RCA}_0

    Origins of ferromagnetism in transition-metal doped Si

    We present results of the magnetic, structural and chemical characterizations of Mn&lt;sup&gt;+&lt;/sup&gt;-implanted Si displaying &lt;i&gt;n&lt;/i&gt;-type semiconducting behavior and ferromagnetic ordering with Curie temperature,T&lt;sub&gt;C&lt;/sub&gt; well above room temperature. The temperature-dependent magnetization measured by superconducting quantum device interference (SQUID) from 5 K to 800 K was characterized by three different critical temperatures (T*&lt;sub&gt;C&lt;/sub&gt;~45 K, T&lt;sub&gt;C1&lt;/sub&gt;~630-650 K and T&lt;sub&gt;C2&lt;/sub&gt;~805-825 K). Their origins were investigated using dynamic secondary mass ion spectroscopy (SIMS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques, including electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), Z-contrast STEM (scanning TEM) imaging and electron diffraction. We provided direct evidences of the presence of a small amount of Fe and Cr impurities which were unintentionally doped into the samples together with the Mn&lt;sup&gt;+&lt;/sup&gt; ions, as well as the formation of Mn-rich precipitates embedded in a Mn-poor matrix. The observed T*&lt;sub&gt;C&lt;/sub&gt; is attributed to the Mn&lt;sub&gt;4&lt;/sub&gt;Si&lt;sub&gt;7&lt;/sub&gt; precipitates identified by electron diffraction. Possible origins of and are also discussed. Our findings raise questions regarding the origin of the high ferromagnetism reported in many material systems without a careful chemical analysis

    The effect of different baryons impurities

    We demonstrate the different effect of different baryons impurities on the static properties of nuclei within the framework of the relativistic mean-field model. Systematic calculations show that Λc+\Lambda_c^+ and Λb\Lambda_b has the same attracting role as Λ\Lambda hyperon does in lighter hypernuclei. Ξ\Xi^- and Ξc0\Xi_c^0 hyperon has the attracting role only for the protons distribution, and has a repulsive role for the neutrons distribution. On the contrary, Ξ0\Xi^0 and Ξc+\Xi^+_c hyperon attracts surrounding neutrons and reveals a repulsive force to the protons. We find that the different effect of different baryons impurities on the nuclear core is due to the different third component of their isospin.Comment: 9 page

    Reliability of Hallux Rigidus Radiographic Grading System

    Introduction. The purpose of this study was to determine the inter- and intra-observer reliability of a clinical radiographic scale for hallux rigidus. Methods. A total of 80 patients were retrospectively selected from the patient population of two foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeons. Each corresponding series of radiographic images (weight-bearing anteroposterior, weight-bearing lateral, and oblique of the foot) was randomized and evaluated. Re-randomization was performed and the corresponding radiograph images re-numbered. Four orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons graded each patient, and each rater reclassified the re-randomized radiographic images three weeks later. Results. Sixty-one out of 80 patients (76%) were included in this study. For intra-observer reliability, most of the raters showed “excellent” agreement except one rater had a “substantial” agreement. For inter-observer reliability, only 14 out of 61 cases (23%) showed total agreement between the eight readings from the four surgeons, and 11 out of the 14 cases (79%) were grade 3 hallux rigidus. One of the raters had a tendency to grade at a higher grade resulting in poorer agreement. If this rater was excluded, the results demonstrated a “substantial” agreement by using this classification. Conclusion. The hallux rigidus radiographic grading system should be used with caution. Although there is an “excellent” level of intra-observer agreement, there is only “moderate” to “substantial” level of inter-observer reliability

    Pyrolysing horse manure via microwave-induced heating for bioenergy recovery

    Transforming waste to energy is essential in view of the need to search for greener and more sustainable energy sources. Such transformation of energy is also aligned with the aim of reducing excessive waste generation whilst creating potential biofuel pathways for power generation. In the present study, animal waste in the form of horse manure is being used as feedstock to undergo microwave-induced pyrolysis via a fixed-bed pyrolysis rig. The relationship of the pyrolysis parameters such as pyrolysis temperature of 350 and 550 °C, carrier gas flow rate of 0.5 and 1.5 L/min and ratio of horse manure to activated carbon blend of 1:2 and 1:1, with the yield of pyrolysed products is studied. The derived pyrolysis products in the form of solid, liquid and gaseous are characterised and quantified. Result shows that the highest yield of solid, liquid and gaseous products obtained are 78.8 wt%, 24.7 wt% and 34.2 wt%. Solid yield is observed to decrease with increasing pyrolysis temperature while gaseous yield shows a reverse trend. Higher carrier gas flow rate is observed to lower the generation of gaseous and liquid yield while increasing the solid yield. Higher amount of activated carbon within the feedstock is seen to lower the solid yield but increase the gaseous and liquid yields. The liquid yield is found to contain 55.78 wt% of phenolic compounds while gaseous product consists of up to 55 vol% of syngas. The control of the operating conditions in pyrolysis rig enables the production of pyrolysis end products in different phases, generating useful bioenergy and biofertilizer products in the context of circular economy
