A comparison between magnetic resonance angiography at 3 teslas (time-of-flight and contrast-enhanced) and flat-panel digital subtraction angiography in the assessment of embolized brain aneurysms
PURPOSE: To compare the time-of-flight and contrast-enhanced- magnetic resonance angiography techniques in a 3 Tesla magnetic resonance unit with digital subtraction angiography with the latest flat-panel technology and 3D reconstruction in the evaluation of embolized cerebral aneurysms. INTRODUCTION: Many embolized aneurysms are subject to a recurrence of intra-aneurismal filling. Traditionally, imaging surveillance of coiled aneurysms has consisted of repeated digital subtraction angiography. However, this method has a small but significant risk of neurological complications, and many authors have advocated the use of noninvasive imaging methods for the surveillance of embolized aneurysms. METHODS: Forty-three aneurysms in 30 patients were studied consecutively between November 2009 and May 2010. Two interventional neuroradiologists rated the time-of-flight-magnetic resonance angiography, the contrast-enhanced-magnetic resonance angiography, and finally the digital subtraction angiography, first independently and then in consensus. The status of aneurysm occlusion was assessed according to the Raymond scale, which indicates the level of recanalization according to degrees: Class 1: excluded aneurysm; Class 2: persistence of a residual neck; Class 3: persistence of a residual aneurysm. The agreement among the analyses was assessed by applying the Kappa statistic. RESULTS: Inter-observer agreement was excellent for both methods (K = 0.93; 95 % CI: 0.84-1). Inter-technical agreement was almost perfect between time-of-flight-magnetic resonance angiography and digital subtraction angiography (K = 0.98; 95 % CI: 0.93-1) and between time-of-flight-magnetic resonance angiography and contrast-enhanced-magnetic resonance angiography (K = 0.98; 95% CI: 0.93-1). Disagreement occurred in only one case (2.3%), which was classified as Class I by time-of-flight-magnetic resonance angiography and Class II by digital subtraction angiography. The agreement between contrast-enhanced-magnetic resonance angiography and digital subtraction angiography was perfect (K = 1; 95% CI: 1-1). In three patients, in-stent stenosis was identified by magnetic resonance angiography but not confirmed by digital subtraction angiography. CONCLUSION: Digital subtraction angiography and both 3T magnetic resonance angiography techniques have excellent reproducibility for the assessment of aneurysms embolized exclusively with coils. In those cases also treated with stent remodeling, digital subtraction angiography may still be necessary to confirm eventual parent artery stenosis, as identified by magnetic resonance angiography

This article presents an analysis, with the aid of the Cultural Studies and of Gender, of Maria's artistic representations and Maria Madalena and of their speeches on the feminine body prescribed and contemplated by these images in the practices and in the women's bodies that frequent the Metropolitan Cathedral of Florianópolis, where these works are present. Looking for to evidence, with the aid of the image reading and of interviews done with this group of women, their reception forms, who are these women, their identities, desires, experiences with the sexuality, virginity, belonging to a history of the imaginary feminine of the present time. Attributing, like this, history to their attitudes, faiths, rituals, behaviors, conflicts, that they travel for relationships of power, gender, class, religion.Este artigo apresenta uma análise, com o auxílio dos Estudos Culturais e de Gênero, das representações artísticas de Maria e Maria Madalena e de seus discursos sobre o corpo feminino prescritos e refletidos por estas imagens nas práticas e nos corpos de um grupo de mulheres que freqüentam a Catedral Metropolitana de Florianópolis, onde estas obras estão presentes. Buscando evidenciar, com o auxílio da leitura de imagem e de entrevistas feitas com este grupo de mulheres, as suas formas de recepção, revelando quem são estas mulheres, suas identidades, desejos, experiências com a sexualidade, virgindade, pertencentes a uma história do imaginário feminino do tempo presente. Observar o interior da escola é uma tarefa complexa, mas fundamental para elaboração de um diagnóstico qualitativo e quantitativo para uma avaliação sistemática das características, expectativas, possibilidades e limitações existentes na instituição, para novos desafios e percursos

Idade, peso e prenhez de novilhas Nelore mocha.
Objetivou-se com este trabalho caracterizar idade, peso e prenhez em novilhas Nelore. Utilizou-se 56 novilhas da raça Nelore, desafiadas com touros para a determinação da idade a primeira prenhez. As novilhas foram pesadas a cada dois meses dos 16 aos 32 meses de idade. Os resultados evidenciaram idade média de 24,10 ± 5,13 meses e peso médio de 304,83 ± 48,23 kg nas 37 novilhas prenhas. Concluiu-se que a idade a primeira prenhez das novilhas Nelore observada neste experimento encontra-se próxima ao descrito na literatura para fêmeas zebuínas, havendo a necessidade de maiores estudos, relacionados ao melhoramento genético e/ou alternativas de manejo, a fim de antecipar a ocorrência da primeira prenhez
W-algebras from symplectomorphisms
It is shown how -algebras emerge from very peculiar canonical
transformations with respect to the canonical symplectic structure on a compact
Riemann surface. The action of smooth diffeomorphisms of the cotangent bundle
on suitable generating functions is written in the BRS framework while a
-symmetry is exhibited. Subsequently, the complex structure of the symmetry
spaces is studied and the related BRS properties are discussed. The specific
example of the so-called -algebra is treated in relation to some other

Discovery limits for a new contact interaction at future hadronic colliders with polarized beams
The production of high-transverse energy jets in hadron-hadroncollisions is
sensitive to the presence of new contact interactions between quarks. If proton
polarization were available, the measurement of some parity violating spin
asymmetries in one-jet production at large transverse energy would complement
the usual search for deviations from the expected QCD cross section. In the
same time, a unique information on the chirality structure of the new
interaction could be obtained. In this context, we compare the potentialities
of various and colliders that are planned or have been proposed,

A Predictive Minimal Model for Neutrino Masses and Mixings
A model is considered in which the scale of the heavy singlet neutrinos is a
few orders of magnitude below the grand unification scale and where
right-handed vector bosons play still a negligible role. In a basis with
diagonal up-quark and Dirac-neutrino mass matrices it is assumed that the heavy
neutrino mass matrix has only zero elements in its diagonal, in analogy to the
light neutrino mass matrix in the Zee model. Connecting then the remaining
matrix elements with the small parameter describing the hierarchy of quark
masses and mixings and by assuming commutativity of the charged lepton with the
down-quark mass matrix, the calculation of all neutrino properties can be
performed in terms of the two mass differences relevant for atmospheric and
solar neutrino oscillations. CP-violation is directly related to CP-violation
