International Trade, Productivity Growth, Education and Wage Differentials: A Case Study of Taiwan.
The source of changes in the wage differential between skilled and unskilled labor has been an important subject of debate for several decades. International trade and productivity growth are two main causes that have been suggested from large country studies. Recent research proposes education as another influence. All three causes have been significantly associated with Taiwan's economic development. This paper attempts to contribute to the literature by investigating wage differentials of Taiwan, a small open economy with a paucity of study on the issue of trade and wages. Optical selection rules of graphene nanoribbons
Optical selection rules for one-dimensional graphene nanoribbons are
analytically studied and clarified based on the tight-binding model. A
theoretical explanation, through analyzing the velocity matrix elements and the
features of wavefunctions, can account for the selection rules, which depend on
the edge structure of nanoribbon, namely armchair or zigzag edges. The
selection rule of armchair nanoribbons is \Delta J=0, and the optical
transitions occur from the conduction to valence subbands of the same index.
Such a selection rule originates in the relationships between two sublattices
and between conduction and valence subbands. On the other hand, zigzag
nanoribbons exhibit the selection rule |\Delta J|=odd, which results from the
alternatively changing symmetry property as the subband index increases. An
efficiently theoretical prediction on transition energies is obtained with the
application of selection rules. Furthermore, the energies of band edge states
become experimentally attainable via optical measurements
The magnetic dipole transitions in the binding system
The magnetic dipole transitions between the vector mesons and their
relevant pseudoscalar mesons (, , , ,
and etc, the binding states of system) of
the family are interesting. To see the `hyperfine' splitting due to
spin-spin interaction is an important topic for understanding the spin-spin
interaction and the spectrum of the the binding system. The
knowledge about the magnetic dipole transitions is also very useful for
identifying the vector boson mesons experimentally, whose masses are
just slightly above the masses of their relevant pseudoscalar mesons
accordingly. Considering the possibility to observe the vector mesons via the
transitions at factory and the potentially usages of the theoretical
estimate on the transitions, we fucus our efforts on calculating the magnetic
dipole transitions, i.e. precisely to calculate the rates for the transitions
such as decays and , and particularly
work in the Behte-Salpeter framework. In the estimate, as a typical example, we
carefully investigate the dependance of the rate

The Decays to -wave Charmonium by Improved Bethe-Salpeter Approach
We re-calculate the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of
meson to a -wave charmonium in terms of the improved Bethe-Salpeter (B-S)
approach, which is developed recently. Here the widths for the exclusive
semileptonic and nonleptonic decays, the form factors, and the charged lepton
spectrums for the semileptonic decays are precisely calculated. To test the
concerned approach by comparing with experimental measurements when the
experimental data are available, and to have comparisons with the other
approaches the results obtained by the approach and those by some approaches
else as well as the original B-S approach, which appeared in literature, are
