Population dynamics of Penaeus indicus at Sofala Bank, Mozambique: a preliminary study

Length-based methods are used to estimate growth and mortalities of Penaeus indicus at Sofala Bank in Mozambique. This Penaeid shrimp is one of the most important species in the fishery as it constitutes 45% of the catches and has a great influence in their trend. First estimates of growth parameters for this species in Mozambique are presented and a comparison of the derived mortalities with the previous estimates is made

Some properties of two Nambu--Jona-Lasinio -type models with inputs from lattice QCD

We investigate the phase diagram of the so-called Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model at finite temperature and nonzero chemical potential. The calculations are performed in the light and strange quark sectors ($u$, $d$, $s$), which includes the 't Hooft instanton induced interaction term that breaks the axial symmetry, and the quarks are coupled to the (spatially constant) temporal background gauge field. On one hand, a special attention is payed to the critical end point (CEP). The strength of the flavor-mixing interaction alters the CEP location, since when it becomes weaker the CEP moves to low temperatures and can even disappear. On the other hand, we also explore the connection between QCD, a nonlocal Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type model and the Landau gauge gluon propagator. Análise dos efeitos da introduçāo de medidas de gestāo na pescaria de camarāo do Banco de Sofala

Biological effects of management measures introduced in the shrimp fishery from 1985 to 1990 are analysed as well as the results from simulation of different closed seasons. Observed changes in recruitment, total catch, biomass and average individual weight during 1985 to 1990 for Penaeus indicus and Hetapenaeus Monoceros are also analysed. Further studies on a stock-recruitment relationship are important due to decline of recruitment levels in this period. A three-month closed season starting in January is recommended, without increases in the monthly fishing effort. The TAC shall be fixed according to the recruitment level each year

Estado actual da pescaria de camarāo no Banco de Sofala

A summary of the shrimp fishery history as well as the most important recommendations for the period 1977-1990 is presented. During the last years the catch rates have decreased. Although many possible causes can be appointed, such as, weather conditions and increase of effort, there is no clear explanation for it. A relationship between catch rates in the main period of recruitment (January to March) and the level of recruitment of the same year was established. Based on this relationship, the total annual catch is predicted for the level of fishing mortality chosen. Fishing mortality is estimated as 2.28 yearˉ¹ and a gradual reduction of fishing effort is recommended until 2.17 yearˉ¹ calculated as F(sub)0.1

Factores condicionantes da dádiva benévola de sangue em estudantes universitários em Luanda

A proporção de colheitas de dadores voluntários pode ser usada como indicador não só do potencial de disponibilidade de sangue mas também da sua segurança. Em Luanda, Angola, a dádiva voluntária correspondeu a cerca de 23% das dádivas em 2004. Foi realizado um estudo observacional descritivo transversal pela aplicação de um questionário constituído por itens que captam factores que motivam ou inibem a dádiva benévola de sangue, numa amostra de estudantes universitários em Luanda. Apesar da baixa dádiva voluntária indicada pelos respondentes, verificou-se uma elevada disponibilidade para a dádiva benévola, essencial no combate ao HIV.The proportion of voluntary blood donors can be used as an indicator not only of the potential availability of blood supplies but also its safety. In Luanda, Angola, the voluntary donation was about 23% of all donations in 2004. We conducted a cross-sectional observational study through questionnaire application which captured factors that motivate or inhibit the benevolent blood donation, among a sample of university students in Luanda. Despite the low voluntary donation indicated by respondents there was a high availability for the voluntary donation, essential in fighting HIV

Potencial produtivo de populações segregantes de feijão-caupi obtidas por meio de cruzamentos dialélicos.

Entre as principais dificuldades para se incrementar a produtividade das espécies comerciais está a escolha de genitores. Uma técnica amplamente utilizada para a escolha de parentais é a de cruzamentos dialélicos. O objetivo do estudo foi utilizar o método de cruzamentos dialélicos para auxiliar na escolha de genótipos de feijão-caupi visando a melhoraria na produtividade. Foram utilizados oito genótipos parentais, que foram avaliados na geração F2 para sete caracteres relacionados à produtividade, sob o delineamento de blocos completos causalizados, se utilizou um dialelo meia tabela. Os genótipos parentais e os cruzamentos mais promissores para a maioria dos caracteres avaliados foram: BRS Xiquexique, TE97-304G-4, BRS Xiquexique x Pretinho e TE97-304G-4 x MNC99-541F-15

Princípios cooperativistas e cooperativismo de crédito: Um estudo de caso em Paraíso do Tocantins, Brasil.

O objetivo foi identificar a prática dos princípios cooperativas em uma cooperativa de crédito na percepção dos dirigentes, além de observar se as metas traçadas pelos dirigentes seguem a linha dos princípios cooperativistas. A pesquisa é exploratória de caráter qualitativo e tendo como metodologia o estudo de caso, com o apoio da técnica entrevista semi-estruturada. Entre os resultados, notou-se que a cooperativa segue parcialmente os princípios do cooperativismo, identificou-se que a comunicação está deficiente e é um ponto que deve ser fortalecido, o que facilitaria o desenvolvimento da cooperativa
