An efficient multi-time step FEM–SFEM iterative coupling procedure for elastic–acoustic interaction problems
An iterative coupling methodology between the Finite Element
Method (FEM) and the Spectral Finite Element Method (SFEM) for the modeling
of coupled elastic-acoustic problems in the time domain is presented here.
Since the iterative coupling procedure allows the use of a nonconforming mesh
at the interface between the subdomains, the difference in the element sizes
concerning the FEM and SFEM is handled in a straightforward and efficient
manner, thereby retaining all the advantages of the SFEM. By means of the
HHT time integration method, controllable numerical damping can be introduced
in one of the subdomains, increasing the robustness of the method and
improving the accuracy of the results; besides, independent time-step sizes can
be considered within each subdomain, resulting in a more efficient algorithm.
In this work, a modification in the subcycling procedure is proposed, ensuring
not only an efficient and accurate methodology but also avoiding the computation
of a relaxation parameter. Numerical simulations are presented in order
to illustrate the accuracy and potential of the proposed methodology.CAPES, UFJF, UFSJ, FAPEMIG and CNP
Conclusão: Enxaqueca é uma cefaleia primária frequente e incapacitante relatada por pacientes com EM.Migraine adds to the burden of patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS). The ID-migraine is a useful tool for screening migraine, and the Migraine Disability Assessment questionnaire can evaluate disease burden. The aim of the present study was to assess the presence and burden of migraine in patients with MS. Methods: Patients diagnosed with MS attending specialized MS units were invited to answer an online survey if they also experienced headache. Results: The study included 746 complete responses from patients with MS and headache. There were 625 women and 121 men, and 69% of all the patients were aged between 20 and 40 years. Migraine was identified in 404 patients (54.1%) and a moderate-to-high burden of disease was observed in 68.3% of the patients. Conclusion: Migraine is a frequent and disabling type of primary headache reported by patients with MS

Contagem celular somática: relação com a composição centesimal do leite e perÃodo do ano no Estado de Goiás Somatic cell count: relationship to milk composition and period of the year in Goiás State, Brazil
A temperatura ambiente apresentou correlação positiva e significativa com o escore de células somáticas, sendo que as maiores médias da CCS ocorreram no perÃodo das secas.<br>Milk quality is a crescent concern in Brazil and the Goiás State does not have any current studies on this subject, although it is among the major producers in the country. The aim of this survey was to verify the relationship between somatic cell count (SCC) and milk composition (fat, protein, lactose and total solids content) and the influence of year period in SCC in Goiás State, Brazil. Data were obtained from October 2002, to September 2003 in the Laboratory of Milk Quality of the Center of Food Research in the Veterinary School of the Federal University of Goiás. SCC was analyzed through flow citometry and milk composition by infrared differential absorption. The year period was divided in two seasons: a rainy season, from November to April, and a dry season, from May to October. Protein, lactose and total solids content decreased as SCC elevated. Environmental temperature showed positive and significant correlation to score of somatic cells, and the highest averages of SCC occurred in the dry season
