    The technology transfer process requires training future users in specific knowledge and skills, as well as performing administrative adjustments for an effective incorporation of innovation into the structure of the system and into the professional care. Pontificia Universidad Cat贸lica de Chile's School of Nursing developed a model of Technological Support for Health Self-Care, which includes the use of telephone counseling to help people who suffer from chronic diseases manage their condition and look after themselves by teaching them techniques which alleviate their disease. Here, we present an experience that was carried out to transfer this technology to professionals related to the Cardiovascular Health Program in Chilean Public Primary Healthcare Centers located in a low-income district of Chile's capital city, Santiago, so that the technology could be applied to patients with type 2 diabetes who had joined such program. This process was conducted in two stages: 1. Making of a theoretical-practical workshop to support health decision-making and motivational strategies for health behavior change (workshops and demonstrations); and 2. Field demonstration, and monitoring with supervision and meetings at local level. The professionals who participated in the technology transfer program succeeded in developing the skills expected in the Telephone Counseling Tool to Support Self-Management of People suffering from DM2. Finally, to enable telephone counseling in clinical practice, healthcare centers restructured their system of service provisions, incorporating such counseling into their professional duties.El proceso de transferencia tecnol贸gica exige capacitar en conocimientos y habilidades espec铆ficas a los futuros usuarios, as铆 como tambi茅n, la realizaci贸n de adecuaciones administrativas para la incorporaci贸n efectiva de la innovaci贸n en la estructura del sistema y en la atenci贸n profesional.La Escuela de Enfermer铆a a la que pertenecen los autores, desarroll贸 un modelo de Apoyo Tecnol贸gico para el Autocuidado en Salud, que incluye el uso de consejer铆as telef贸nicas para apoyar a personas con enfermedades cr贸nicas en el automanejo, 聽y autocuidado de su condici贸n. Se presenta a continuaci贸n la experiencia llevada a cabo para聽 transferir esta tecnolog铆a a profesionales del Programa de Salud Cardiovascular en Centros de Atenci贸n Primaria p煤blicos de una comuna de bajos recursos en Chile, para su incorporaci贸n en la atenci贸n de pacientes con diabetes tipo 2 adscritos a dicho programa.Este proceso se realiz贸 en dos etapas: 1. Realizaci贸n de un taller te贸rico pr谩ctico en apoyo a la toma de decisiones en salud y estrategias motivacionales para el cambio de conducta en salud (talleres y demostraciones) y 2. Demostraci贸n en terreno, y 聽seguimiento con supervisi贸n y reuniones a nivel local.Los profesionales que participaron del programa de transferencia tecnol贸gica, lograron desarrollar las destrezas esperadas en la herramienta de Consejer铆a Telef贸nica de Apoyo al Auto-Manejo de Personas con DM2.     Indexaci贸n: Web of Science; Scielo.La Estaci贸n Biol贸gica Senda Darwin (EBSD) constituye un centro de investigaci贸n inmerso en el paisaje rural del norte de la Isla de Chilo茅 (42潞 S), donde fragmentos del bosque siempreverde original coexisten con praderas de uso ganadero, turberas de Sphagnum, matorrales sucesionales, plantaciones de Eucalyptus y otras formaciones de origen antropog茅nico. Desde 1994 hemos realizado estudios de largo plazo centrados en algunas especies de plantas (e.g., Pilgerodendron uviferum D. Don) y animales (e.g., Aphrastura spinicauda Gmelin, Dromiciops gliroides [Thomas]) catalogados como amenazados o escasamente conocidos y en ecosistemas nativos de importancia regional y global (e.g., turberas de Sphagnum, bosque Valdiviano y Nordpatag贸nico). Las investigaciones han considerado las respuestas de las especies y de los ecosistemas frente al cambio antropog茅nico del paisaje y cambio clim谩tico, as铆 como los efectos de diferentes formas de manejo. Este escenario es semejante al de otras regiones de Chile y Latinoam茅rica lo que da generalidad a nuestros resultados y modelos. En este per铆odo, investigadores asociados a la EBSD han producido m谩s de un centenar de publicaciones en revistas nacionales e internacionales y 30 tesis de pre y postgrado. Entendiendo el papel clave de los seres humanos en los procesos ecol贸gicos de la zona rural, la EBSD ha desarrollado un programa de educaci贸n ecol贸gica y vinculaci贸n del avance cient铆fico con la sociedad local y nacional. La integraci贸n de la EBSD a la naciente red de Sitios de Estudios Socio-Ecol贸gicos de Largo Plazo en Chile consolidar谩 y fortalecer谩 la investigaci贸n b谩sica y aplicada que realizamos para proyectarla hacia la siguiente d茅cada.Senda Darwin Biological Station (SDBS) is a field research center immersed in the rural landscape of northern Chilo茅 island (42潞 S), where remnant patches of the original evergreen forests coexist with open pastures, secondary successional shrublands, Sphagnum bogs, Eucalyptus plantations and other anthropogenic cover types, constituting an agricultural frontier similar to other regions in Chile and Latin America. Since 1994, we have conducted long-term research on selected species of plants (e.g., Pilgerodendron uviferum) and animals (e.g., Aphrastura spinicauda, Dromiciops glirioides) that are considered threatened, poorly known or important for their ecological functions in local ecosystems, and on ecosystems of regional and global relevance (e.g., Sphagnum bogs, North Patagonian and Valdivian rain forests). Research has assessed the responses of species and ecosystems to anthropogenic land-use change, climate change, and the impact of management. During this period, more than 100 scientific publications in national and international journals, and 30 theses (graduate and undergraduate) have been produced by scientists and students associated with SDBS. Because of our understanding of the key role that humans play in ecological processes at this agricultural frontier, since the establishment of SDBS we have been committed to creative research on the communication of science to society and ecological education. The integration of SDBS to the nascent Chilean network of long-term socio-ecological research will consolidate and strengthen basic and applied research to project our work into the next decade.http://ref.scielo.org/vbm4r

    El proceso de transferencia tecnol贸gica exige capacitar en conocimientos y habilidades espec铆ficas a los futuros usuarios, as铆 como tambi茅n la realizaci贸n de adecuaciones administrativas para la incorporaci贸n efectiva de la innovaci贸n en la estructura del sistema y en la atenci贸n profesional.
