ADR in the Law Firm: A Practical Viewpoint
This comment is divided into three major sections. In Part I, the attorneys explain how ADR concepts are employed within their respective firms. Part II is advisory in nature, with the attorneys expressing their opinions and beliefs regarding how ADR should be integrated into a law firm practice. In Part III, the attorneys express some of their perceptions and viewpoints regarding ADR in general

Barn Again: A Case Study of Congregational Reformation as Expressed Through the Rhetoric of Church Architecture
Understanding the way in which church architecture functions rhetorically to communicate identity formation, monumentality, and meaning was the focus of this study.
Ronald C. Arnett\u27s interpersonal praxis is used as a starting point to understand how the architectural rhetoric of reformation happens. It includes the integration of three concepts: faith narrative, or worldview; historicality, the presence of history in a place; and metaphor, or symbol. I argue that it is through an understanding of an integration of these terms as applied to visual communication that architectural communication can be understood.
Sonja Foss\u27s schema for the evaluation of visual imagery was used to further understanding of the symbolic element of this architecture, but also contributed in some ways to discerning the historicality and faith narrative.
The building analyzed was a church designed by the architectural firm Metz, Thornton, and Smith under the guidance of Connecticut Valley Christ Community Church. The narrative context of the building was explored, followed by identification and evaluation of the architectural elements of the building, then Foss\u27s schema was applied and the functions of the building were judged and conclusions drawn
The Ever Widening Gyre: Factors Affecting Change in Adult Education Graduate Programs
The purpose of this survey study was to understand the factors that have influenced recent changes in the size of adult education graduate programs. We found that integration has a significant effect on changes in student enrollment while leadership, innovation, and integration all significantly predict variance in faculty growth
IS ACROMEGALY A HYPERCOAGULABLE CONDITION? CASE REPORTS AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
Introduction: Cardiovascular complications are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with uncontrolled acromegaly. However, there are no published reports of an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in such patients. We report three patients with uncontrolled acromegaly who presented with VTE. Clinical Cases: A 52-year-old male with uncontrolled acromegaly despite transsphenoidal (TSP) surgery and medical therapy presented in 2012 with acute chest pain and shortness of breath that was later con rmed as secondary to pulmonary embolism. A 44-year-old male immigrant, previously treated for acromegaly with radiation therapy alone, in 1992, in his native country, was referred to our centre in 2006 for acromegaly which remained uncontrolled despite medical therapy until 2009 when he achieved remission through TSP surgery. He had several episodes of VTE between 2008 and 2010. A 69-year-old male with uncontrolled acromegaly for 28 years despite two surgical resections and radiation therapy in 1986 and 1992, as well as continuous medical therapy, presented with VTE of the right axillary vein and bilateral pulmonary emboli in 2011. A thrombophilia screen in case 1 showed mild protein S de ciency, case 2 was homozygous for factor V Leiden (FVL) mutation and case 3 was heterozygous for FVL. Extensive investigations revealed no evidence of malignancy and echocardiography showed preserved ejection fraction in all three patients. Conclusion: Patients with uncontrolled acromegaly may be at increased risk of VTE. However, larger studies are required to further assess this association and determine the underlying cause. Key words: Acromegaly, pituitary tumours, thromboembolism

Report to Foundation Degree Forward on the impact of foundation degrees on students and the workplace
The study (commissioned by Foundation Degree Forward) was undertaken by a team of researchers from the Open University's Centre for Higher Education Research and Information and the Learning and Skills Network. It set out to explore the impact of foundation degrees from students' and employers' perspectives. By design it also aimed to build capacity among (mainly) staff in further education colleges delivering Foundation degree (Fd) 8 programmes through the involvement of Fd practitioners in the study. Many of the Fds in the study were still rather new, and some of the research findings reflect this recency. The study found that students and employers perceive a range of benefits that Fd study brings to individuals and the workplace. Full-time students cited gaining real business/industry experience, gaining broad knowledge of a specific industry, developing relevant knowledge and skills, and making contacts for future jobs as some of the benefits. Those already in employment cited getting back to learning, gaining new subject knowledge and an understanding of theories linked to, and informed by workplace practices, the development of academic skills, and gaining broader perspectives on their current work. Most students considered they had gained confidence through their studies.
Employers also noted the gains in broader understandings and improved performance in the workplace. However, the study also found that employer involvement in the design and delivery of Fds was very variable. A few had been actively engaged, and practitioners acknowledged that engaging employers effectively and persuading them to take part in future developments could be a challenge. The report notes that many of the Fds involved in the study had yet to capitalise on the intended levels of integration of academic and work-based learning, and of employer engagement which are seen as some of the distinctive features of Fds
Electrochemical sulfidation of WS2 nanoarrays:strong dependence of hydrogen evolution activity on transition metal sulfide surface composition
The activity of transition metal sulfides for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) can be increased by sulfur-enrichment of active metal-sulfide sites. In this report, we investigate the electrochemical sulfidation of atmospherically aged WS2 nanoarrays with respect to enhancing HER activity. In contrast to MoS2, it is found that sulfidation diminishes HER activity. Electrochemical and XPS experiments suggest the involvement of insoluble tungsten oxides in the altered HER and electron transfer properties. This demonstrates the strong dependence of the transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) composition with the successful sulfur incorporation and subsequent HER activity
