Thermoplastic Multilayer Slide-Foil
The training of movement procedures to increase the skills of athletes is a fundamental part of competitive sports. A realistic training, supported by technical equipment provides athletes a better success of training and is requested by trainers and training centers all over the world. Especially in winter sports, like luge or bob, a realistic training simulation is not always possible and demands adaptations of specific training procedures. As a part of this article, a new multilayer slide-foil will be presented, which allows athletes an even more realistic training. For this purpose the structure and production process of the foil composite will be
shown, as well as results of the tribological behaviour of the foil.
Differential Impacts of Information Technology Services in the Korean Hotel Industry: A Study of Management Perceptions
Successful introduction of information technology applications in various operations of hotel management is vital to most service firms. In recent decades, technologies of information, automation, and communication are increasingly recognized as essential components of a hotel company’s strategic plan. In this study, 62 super-deluxe hotels (5 star), deluxe hotels (4 star), and tourist hotels (3 star) in Korea are examined for differences in the impact of information technology services on guest’ satisfaction, guest convenience, and operational efficiency. The findings generally suggest that the impacts of information technology-enhanced services vary according to the category of hotels in Korea. The results of the study are expected to assist managers in the selections and implementation of information technology systems in their hotel
Electrical Conductance of Molecular Wires
Molecular wires (MW) are the fundamental building blocks for molecular
electronic devices. They consist of a molecular unit connected to two continuum
reservoirs of electrons (usually metallic leads). We rely on Landauer theory as
the basis for studying the conductance properties of MW systems. This relates
the lead to lead current to the transmission probability for an electron to
scatter through the molecule. Two different methods have been developed for the
study of this scattering. One is based on a solution of the Lippmann-Schwinger
equation and the other solves for the {\bf t} matrix using Schroedinger's
equation. We use our methodology to study two problems of current interest. The
first MW system consists of 1,4 benzene-dithiolate (BDT) bonded to two gold
nanocontacts. Our calculations show that the conductance is sensitive to the
chemical bonding between the molecule and the leads. The second system we study
highlights the interesting phenomenon of antiresonances in MW. We derive an
analytic formula predicting at what energies antiresonances should occur in the
transmission spectra of MW. A numerical calculation for a MW consisting of
filter molecules attached to an active molecule shows the existence of an
antiresonance at the energy predicted by our formula.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure
Necrotizing periodontitis or medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) in a patient receiving Bemcentinib-a case report
Bemcentinib is a newly developed AXL inhibitor that is currently under investigation in phase II trails for the treatment of acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). Clinical and radiographic findings in this case were very similar to cases of MRONJ in patients receiving Sunitinib or other anti-angiogenetic substances, assuming that Bemcentinib may cause similar oral side effects. We present a male 81-year-old patient with a manifestation of alveolar bone necrosis at the central upper incisors following a 2-month regimen with the AXL-inhibitor Bemcentinib, administered for the treatment of secondary acute myeloblastic leukemia (sAML). Due to the duration of less than 8 weeks, the osteonecrosis was diagnosed as necrotizing periodontitis, but the intraoral clinical and radiographic findings were also compatible with the differential diagnosis of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ, stage II). Following to discontinuation of Bemcentinib, the affected bone was surgically revised including the removal of a demarcated bone sequester under preventive antibiotic treatment (metronidazole 400 mg t.i.d.). We hypothesize that Bemcentinib might increase the susceptibility for osteonecrosis of the jaw, probably related to its antiangiogenic effects and the resulting modulation of host immune response. Based on the current observations, it can be assumed that oro-dental health might be significant also prior and during treatment with Bemcentinib for the prevention of MRONJ
