Neither in nor out : the prisional experience of foreigners in São Paulo

Orientador: Adriana Gracia PiscitelliTese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências HumanasResumo: Neste trabalho apresento uma etnografia sobre a experiência prisional de estrangeiras em São Paulo marcada, de um lado, pelo corte com exterior (no duplo sentido do termo, extramuros e fora de seu país de origem), e, de outro, por uma série de conexões que lhes garante certas presenças e outras margens de agência no exterior. Com base no trabalho de campo multissituado (intra, entre e extramuros) busco analisar o modo como essas mulheres se fazem estrangeiras na relação com outros agentes entre os múltiplos interiores e exteriores da prisão. Partindo de minha atuação como voluntária e pesquisadora do ITTC (Instituto Terra Trabalho e Cidadania), mas não me restringindo a ela, persegui redes dentro de redes, fluxos por entre diferentes fronteiras, em diferentes escalas, que articulam o aprisionamento desde as pessoas (in)dividuais até os emaranhados transnacionais. Tais fluxos e fronteiras são observados a partir dos laços construídos no jogo das políticas prisionais e prisioneiras e no exercício da maternidade. A partir desses dois eixos, argumento acerca de como as interações por entre fronteiras prisionais e transnacionais dão vida a estrangeiras e o contrário, como as relações estabelecidas por, e em torno dessas mulheres, dão vida a tais fronteiras em diferentes escalasAbstract: In this work, I present an ethnography about the prison experience of foreign women in São Paulo, marked, in one hand, by the isolation from the exterior world (both the world beyond the walls and by being outside their home countries), and, in another hand, by a series of connections which allows them to have a certain presence and other margins of action with the outside world. Based on a field work with multiple physical dimensions (inside, between and outside walls), I look to analyse the way in which these women become foreigners in relation to other agents between the multiple interiors and exteriors of the prison. Starting from my role as a volunteer and researcher with the "Instituto Terra Trabalho e Cidadania" (ITTC ¿ Institute of Land, Labour and Citizenship), but not restricting myself to it, I followed networks inside networks, flows between different borders, in different scales, which articulate the imprisonment of these (in)dividual people, down to the transnational entanglements. These flows and borders are observed from the bonds build in the set of prison policies and pregnant prisoners. From these two axes, I discuss how the transnational and beyond prison borders interactions give life to these foreign women and, on the contrary, how the relationships established by, and around these women, give life to these borders in different degreesDoutoradoAntropologia SocialDoutora em Antropologia Social2010/18227-3FAPES
