Semantics Application Networking for EFL learners' Communicative Language Learning

    Get PDF
This study compares and contrasts the speaking activities that are regularly assigned to students in the classroom and explores how both teachers and students view the program's overall worth. The research uses experimental design as its methodology. Students who were enrolled in the first semester of the academic year 2021–2022 made up the study's population. The purposive sampling strategy was used by the current researcher. The researcher participated in two courses with a combined total of 80 students as samples for this study.  The outcomes of this study are anticipated to provide important data and make a substantial addition to linguistic research, particularly in the field of language instruction. This study's sole objective was to use Semantics Networking Techniques to improve the students' oral English skills.  The findings of this study highlight the significance of communicative language, language learning approaches, and semantic networking strategies in fostering students' development in various fields. &nbsp

Involvement in co-curricular activities is important in addition to teaching and learning processes at all levels, including Higher Education Institutions to create soft skills among students. This study was conducted to identify the application, awareness and control of teamwork skills through curricular hockey at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). The study design was chosen by the researchers is a case study because the information is obtained more precisely and to answer specific research questions. This study uses triangulation method to analyse the data of questionnaires, interviews, observations and document analysis. Numbers of samples involved in this study were 73 students who make up the total population. The results of the questionnaire were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 20 to obtain the mean and standard deviation. The findings indicate that there is infusion of teamwork skills in co-curricular hockey at UTHM. This study suggests that instructors or lecturers as a change agent in implementing effective teamwork skills which in turn can produce human capital that are competitive in the global market

Prediction of Pavement Life Using Influence Function and Peak Influence Function for Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Analysis

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is to predict the long-term pavement life using different method of analysis of the primary response in the pavement layer. The methods are influence function method (IFM) and Peak Influence Function Method (PIFM). A tyre-pavement interaction model was used to predict the 3-Dimensional contact stresses under static and dynamic loads. In this model, a truck tyre was loaded on a three-layer flexible pavement surface. The load primarily affects the vertical contact stress and the longitudinal contact stress. Statistical method was used to analyse the compare the differences between both methods. As a result, elastic modulus of the asphaltic material varies with asphaltic concrete thickness, vehicle speed, volume of void, volume of bitumen and temperature. Temperature was found to influence the asphaltic material modulus more than others due to the elastic modulus of the mixture’s dependency on the stiffness of the bitumen. It is succeeded by vehicle speed, volume of void, volume of binder and AC thickness of which is minimal or have almost no effect on strains. In conclusion, Peak influence function is able to predict the response in pavement as a result of vehicle loads sufficiently and realistically. Low differences of strain was  evidenced to reduce the differences resulting in failure

Estimation Of Entrance Skin Dose And Effective Dose In Cervical Spine X-Ray Procedures

The use of ionizing radiation in medical field is the largest and a growing man-made source of radiation exposure. The aim of this study is to estimate the doses received by patients during radiological examinations in order to standardize the examination procedures and optimize the patient dose. Two most referral hospitals, located in the Capital City of Kebbi State, were investigated. The Patients undergoing cervical spine X-ray examinations were involved in this study.  Entrance Skin Dose (ESD) and Effective Dose were calculated using exposure parameters (voltage, tube loading, focus-patient distance). The Cal Dose _X 5.0 software was used to determine ESD and ED. Conversion coefficients were used to relate ESD to the effective dose (ED). A total of 65 radiographic examinations data were collected from the two hospitals during three months of the year 2021 to 2022. The highest ESD (mGy) was found for the lateral cervical view in Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, with an average value of 4.12 mGy. The highest value of ED and DRLs was also observed for the AP projection in FMC with an average of 0.27 mSv and 4.73. The ESDs reported in this study are generally higher than value obtained from the research conducted by the Iran, and Brazil, while ED was remarkably high compared to other studies. This trend is an indication that the patient radiation protection practices in these two hospitals need to be justified. The results of this study showed that there is a need for justification and optimization in order to reduce patient radiation dose without affecting the quality of the radiographic image. The data of this work will be useful in contributing to the formulation of regional guidance levels

The Roles of Peace Envoy in Liberian Conflict Management

In the recent past, Liberia and Africa at large have been in the news mainly in the light of several disorder which ranges from intra-state and inter-state conflict and civil wars. Civil wars resulted to wanton, killing, kidnapping, genocide, and destruction of property as well as the increase in the  refugees and internally displaced persons. Also, the prolonged Liberian  conflict led to violation of human rights, particularly atrocities against  civilian populations, including widespread sexual violation against women  and children and underage, etc. The situation has continued to constitute  threat to international peace and security in the region, to stability in West Africa sub-region, and to the peace process for Liberia. The method and  sources of information adopted was through secondary sources. The study  considered the overview of the Liberian civil war and its return to democratic society and the emergency of the first woman president in Africa in the year 2006. The roles played by the peace envoys in managing the Liberian conflicts with the particular reference to the UN, ECOWAS and Nigeria  (ECOMOG) for its leadership roles and the way forward on research on the roles of peace envoy in conflict management in Liberia and Africa at largeProblems faced by these envoys were also looked at.Key words: civil war, conflict, peace envoy, genocide, security
