Creative environment determining factors at universities

Celem głównym artykułu jest identyfikacja czynników determinujących kreatywne środowisko w uniwersytecie. Jako metody badawcze zastosowano analizę literatury przedmiotu oraz badania pilotażowe, bazujące na autorskiej analizie środowiska kreatywnego w uniwersytetach w Polsce. Konkluzje oparto również na wieloletnim doświadczeniu autorów, związanym z badaniem funkcjonowania polskich uniwersytetów. W tekście zaprezentowano definicje kreatywności, środowiska kreatywnego oraz czynników wpływających na kreatywne środowisko w uniwersytecie. Następnie opisano założenia badawcze, przedstawiono wyniki pilotażowych badań własnych oraz przyszłe kierunki badań.The article is primarily aimed at the identification of factors which determine creative environments at universities. The research methods include the literature analysis and a pilot study based on the authors’ designed analysis of creative environment at universities in Poland. The conclusions are also based on the authors’ long-term experience related to the research of the functioning of Polish universities. The text presents the definitions of creativity, creative environment and factors affecting creative environments at universities. The research assumptions are described and the results of authors’ own pilot study as well as future research trends are presented

Scientific excellence and teaching excellence as core competencies of public universities in Poland

Głównym celem niniejszego opracowania jest identyfikacja doskonałości naukowej oraz doskonałości dydaktycznej jako kluczowych kompetencji organizacji na przykładzie uczelni publicznych w Polsce. W prowadzonych przez autorów badaniach założono, że można wskazać wiele kluczowych kompetencji uczelni. W niniejszym przypadku skupiono się na dwóch głównych obszarach aktywności uczelni i na tej podstawie wyodrębniono dwie kluczowe kompetencje: doskonałość naukową i doskonałość dydaktyczną. Uzasadnieniem takiego wyboru jest założenie autorów, że to te dwie kompetencje mogą stanowić główne przesłanki sukcesu uczelni. Ponadto efekty wykorzystania tych kluczowych kompetencji można zmierzyć za pomocą mierzalnych i zróżnicowanych wskaźników. Aby zrealizować postawiony cel badawczy, zastosowano metodę studiowania i analizy, przy czym skoncentrowano się na treściach misji uczelni, analizie stron internetowych wybranych uniwersytetów publicznych przy zastosowaniu opracowanych wcześniej kryteriów oraz dyskusji wyników parametryzacji i akredytacji badanych uniwersytetów zamieszczonych odpowiednio na stronach internetowych Komitetu Ewaluacji Jednostek Naukowych (KEJN) i Polskiej Komisji Akredytacyjnej (PKA).The aim of the paper was to identify scientific excellence and teaching excellence as core organisational competencies of public universities in Poland. It had been assumed that many of them could be identified, but in the present case, the focus was on two main areas of the university's activity and two core competences: scientific excellence and teaching & learning excellence. On the one hand scientific excellence and teaching & learning excellence may be perceived as core competencies of universities due to the complexity of parameters included in their estimation. On the other hand, the rankings based on these competencies may raise some controversy, due to the fact that the presented indicators do not always reflect reliable measures of quality, and the data included in the ranking is highly aggregated. The presented preliminary research results should be treated as a basis for further research in the field of identifying both key competencies of universities as well as strategies and methods for their improvement

Crescent Microstrip Antenna for LTE-U and 5G Systems

The field of wireless cellular network technology has seen a significant development in recent years, allowing the emergence of many new applications in addition to the traditional mobile phone calls. We are currently implementing the 5G system, which is replacing the previous cellular technologies on the market. Parallel to the development of cellular technologies, wireless local networks based on the IEEE 802.11× standards are rapidly spreading. The desire to use the advantages of both mobile telephony and wireless local networks has led to the idea of integrating the currently used communication systems in one device and requires a well-designed antenna, which should be given a lot of attention when designing the radio system. This article presents the proposed model of a two-band microstrip antenna for which the main assumption is its operating frequencies in the LTE-U (LTE-Unlicensed) band and one of the 5G system bands. The antenna dimensions and parameters have been calculated, simulated, and optimized using CST Microwave Studio software. The developed antenna has a compact structure with dimensions of (60 × 40 × 1.57) mm. The dielectric material RT Duroid 5880 with a dielectric constant εr = 2.2 and thickness h = 1.57 mm was used as a substrate for the antenna construction. The article presents an analysis of the results of simulation and measurements of selected electrical parameters and radiation characteristics of the proposed antenna. The antenna described in the article, working in 5G systems and LTE-U systems, is characterized by two operating bands with center frequencies equal to 3.52 GHz and 5.37 GHz, a low reflection coefficient (for resonances −31.54 dB and −23.16 dB), a gain value of 4.45 dBi, a wide frequency band of 3.0 GHz (68.18%), and a high energy efficiency in the range of 80–96.68%
