Presentations of strict monoidal categories and strict monoidal categories of welded tangle-oids

In this thesis, we address combinatorial descriptions of welded knotoids from the point of view of strict monoidal categories. To this end, we address combinatorial presentations of strict monoidal categories, by generators and relations. We do this by addressing presentations of a closely related type of categorical object, which we call 1/2 -monoidal categories (essentially sesqui-categories on a single object). A key part of the construction relies on the construction of the free 1/2 -monoidal category over what we call a monoidal graph ( a graph with monoidal structure on the set of vertices). We prove that the category of what we called slideable 1/2 - monoidal categories is equivalent to the category of strict monoidal categories. We prove that there exists a slidealisation functor, sending a 1/2 -monoidal category to a slideable 1/2- monoidal category. We use this to obtain combinatorial presentations of strict monoidal categories from combinatorial presentations of 1/2 -monoidal categories. We use this formalism to define presentations of strict monoidal categories of welded tangle-oids, generalising work of Lambropoulou, Turaev, Kaufmann and others on knotoids. Given a finite group G, more generally a finite group acting on a finite abelian group, we construct a functor from the monoidal category of welded tangle-oids to a strictified version of the monoidal category of vector spaces

Jennie K. (Hannah) Bsharah was born in Toledo on September 9, 1903. She had to leave school at an early age to help support her family. She worked at The Blade before taking a position at the Electric Auto-Lite Company, where she was appointed to work on the negotiating team during the 1934 strike. In this interview, she speaks of her experience as a union representative, and tells how after 35 years she received next to nothing from a pension she had paid into. She was the widow of Michael Bsharah, a former News-Bee and Blade employee. Mrs. Bsharah died on August 7, 1984 in Toledo

The ecclesiastical and political situation in Palestine from the 4th Ecumenical Synod to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Persians (614 AD)

This doctoral thesis attempts, as far as possible, to present the evolutions, ecclesiastical and historical, which form the period following the 4th Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon. It ends with the Persian invasion and conquest of the Palestine by the Persians in the early 7th century. This period is an extremely important time for Palestine, and for the entire Middle East, in which Jerusalem attempts to be the place of reference of Christians. After the 4th Ecumenical Synod, the symbolic role of the city and the region becomes even more important as they become the primary field of competition and confrontation between the Chalcedonian and the Antichalodonian Christians. The special position of Jerusalem in the conscience of Christians has made them the center of the reference for the unity of both the Christian Church and the Byzantine Empire. The interpretation of the events that evolved in the Holy Land will help to better study the period and the theological and historical events. The study includes both the action of ecclesiastical and political personalities, especially emperors, in the aforementioned period, in their attempt to combine the ecclesiastical with their personal politics. The period under negotiation includes mainly the reigns of the emperors Markian, Zenon, Anastasius, Justinus, Justinian, who tried to impose their personal ecclesiastical politics in Palestine, perceiving their special symbolism in the consciousness of Christians and their ability to influence them. The ever increasing significance of the position of Jerusalem as the place of reference and memory of everyday Christians, gave the city and the wider region a special political value, something that did not exist during the first Christian centuries, and this was evident from the fact that in 451 the Church of Jerusalem became ecclesiastical self-government (Patriarchate).Particular emphasis is given to the role played by Patriarch juvenal and the Empress Evdoxia in the restoration of Orthodox faith, as well as by the special contribution of the Great Euthymius to the consolidation of Orthodoxy. It analyzes the policy followed by Emperor Justinian in Palestine, especially after the Samaritan revolution, and the role of Saint Savvas in the restoration of ecclesiastical and political peace. Special mention is made of Emperor Justinian's personal interest in rebuilding temples and generally embellishing the wider Jerusalem region, as well as the role played by Saint Savvas in this emperor's decision. Finally, we refer to the Persian invasion of Palestine and the occupation of Jerusalem, which marks the end of the period of the local Church's peak during the Byzantine era.Η παρούσα διατριβή επιχειρεί, όσο το δυνατό, να παρουσιάσει τις εξελίξεις, εκκλησιαστικές και ιστορικές, οι οποίες διαμορφώνονται τη χρονική περίοδο που ακολουθεί την Δ΄ Οικουμενική Σύνοδο της Χαλκηδόνας και ολοκληρώνεται με την περσική επιδρομή και κατάκτηση της Παλαιστίνης από τους Πέρσες, στις αρχές του 7ου αιώνα.
