    LM-12 actual weight report

    Get PDF
The actual measurement by stage of LM-12 weight and center of gravity in the Y and Z plane are documented. The stages were weighed separately on the LM weight and balance fixture. The descent stage measurements were made on June 8, 1971, and the ascent stage measurements were made on June 3, 1971. The procedure for obtaining the weight and center of gravity check is defined, and the official recording of the measurements is provided

Emission within a Damped Lyman Alpha Absorption Trough: the Complex Sight Line Towards Q2059-360

We present new spectroscopic observations of the quasar Q2059-360, confirming the existence of an emission feature within the Damped Lyman Alpha (DLA) absorption trough. By observing also at slit positions offset from the quasar, we show that the emission is spatially extended by at least a few arcseconds, and hence confirm that the feature seen must be due to emission rather than unusual absorption characteristics. We find that the DLA trough is very close in redshift to the broad Lyman~α\alpha emission line of the QSO, with the result that the DLA absorption removes much of the peak region of that line. Despite the similarity of the redshifts of the DLA and the QSO, the lack of high-ionization lines of the DLA system and the unresolved widths of the corresponding metal lines indicate that the DLA cloud is not an associated system. The emission feature has a large velocity offset of +490 km/s with respect to the DLA system, and is resolved in velocity, comprising two components with a separation of ~ 300 km/s. We consider three possibilities: (1) Both emission and absorption occur within an object similar to the high redshift Lyman-break galaxies; (2) The emission feature arises from an object distinct from both the DLA absorber and the QSO, perhaps a young star-forming galaxy or a proto-galactic clump. It could be associated with the DLA absorber and perhaps the QSO in a compact group or cluster; (3) The redshifts are such that the emission feature could be due to Narrow Line Region filaments of the QSO, if the DLA absorption covers a sufficiently small angular size to allow the filaments to be seen beyond the edge of the DLA cloud.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures. N400-like potentials and reaction times index semantic relations between highly repeated individual words

The N400 ERP is an electrophysiological index of semantic processing. Its amplitude varies with the semantic category of words, their concreteness, or whether their meaning matches that of a preceding context. The results of a number of studies suggest that these effects could be markedly reduced or suppressed for stimuli that are repeated. Nevertheless, we have recently shown that significant effects of semantic matching and category could be obtained on N400-like potentials elicited by massively repeated target words in a prime–target semantic categorization task. If such effects could be obtained when primes also are repeated, it would then be possible to study the semantic associations between individual words. The present study thus aimed to test this hypothesis while (1) controlling for a potential contribution of physical matching to the processing of repeated targets and (2) testing if the N400-like effects obtained in these conditions are modulated by task instruction, as are classic N400 effects. Two category words were used as primes and two exemplars as targets. In one block of trials, subjects had to respond according to the semantic relation between prime and target (semantic instruction) and, in another block, they had to report changes in letter case (physical instruction). Results showed that the amplitude of the N400-like ERP obtained was modulated by semantic matching and category but not by letter case. The effect of semantic matching was observed only in the semantic instruction block. Interestingly, the effect of category was not modulated by task instruction. An independent component analysis showed that the component that made the greatest contribution to the effect of semantic matching in the time window of the N400-like potential had a scalp distribution similar to that reported for the N400 and was best fit as a bilateral generator in the superior temporal gyrus. The use of repetition could thus allow, at least in explicit semantic tasks, a drastic simplification of N400 protocols. Highly repeated individual words could be used to study semantic relations between individual concepts

    AGT/Z2_2

We relate Liouville/Toda CFT correlators on Riemann surfaces with boundaries and cross-cap states to supersymmetric observables in four-dimensional N=2 gauge theories. Our construction naturally involves four-dimensional theories with fields defined on different Z2_2 quotients of the sphere (hemisphere and projective space) but nevertheless interacting with each other. The six-dimensional origin is a Z2_2 quotient of the setup giving rise to the usual AGT correspondence. To test the correspondence, we work out the RP4^4 partition function of four-dimensional N=2 theories by combining a 3d lens space and a 4d hemisphere partition functions. The same technique reproduces known RP2^2 partition functions in a form that lets us easily check two-dimensional Seiberg-like dualities on this nonorientable space. As a bonus we work out boundary and cross-cap wavefunctions in Toda CFT.Comment: 56 pages. v2: Clarify discrete theta angle. v3: Published in JHEP; extra references. v4: Minor sign fix; extra reference

Diagnostic value of the Dutch version of the MCclean Screening instrument for BPD (MSI-BPD)

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) often goes unrecognized, and therefore a short but accurate screening tool is desired. The present study investigated the psychometric properties of the 10-item McLean Screening Instrument for BPD (MSI-BPD) in 159 well-diagnosed female participants. The MSI-BPD showed excellent internal consistency (alpha = .90). When compared to BPD diagnoses based on a structured clinical interview (SCID-II), the MSI-BPD showed substantial congruent validity (receiver operating characteristic area under the curve = 0.96). The cutoff point proposed by the developers of the MSI-BPD (7 or more) showed high specificity (.96) and good sensitivity (.71). The optimal cutoff point in the present study (5 or more) showed somewhat lower specificity (.86), but importantly better sensitivity (.94). Taken together, the Dutch version of the MSI-BPD demonstrated good psychometric properties for a screening tool
