New design-oriented directions for the regional economy: proposal of a framework for classifying industrial conversions and product diversification cases in mature industries
Design and Innovation Management find common ground and interesting collaborations in defining strategies that manufacturing companies can implement in extreme circumstances. Design-oriented industrial conversion and product diversification could be an outcome of such strategies, identified to explore and manage emerging technological paradigms. This research focuses on manufacturing companies within industrial districts that are in difficulty and try to orient them towards new strategic directions, driven by product design. For this purpose, the research proposes a framework for classifying case studies of companies that have successfully applied the strategies mentioned above. It displays expansion directions, sectors, products or processes that could be of value for a territorial context
Octreotide therapy in a patient with lung microcytoma
We report the case of a 51-year-old woman with limited Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). Cytological diagnosis has been made by fibroscopy. Chemotherapy schedule was cisplatin 30 mg/mq and VP-16 100 mg/mq days 1,2,3 q21 as first line treatment. The serum levels of cromogranine A and NSE (Neuron-Specific Enolase) were higher than normal; for this reason we prescribed, together with chemotherapy, octreotide LAR 30 mg every 28 days. Associated toxicity was easily manageable. Subsequent thoracic and panencefalic prophylactic radiotherapy improved tumour response and quality of life. We continued octreotide LAR 30 mg every 28 days even after the end of chemotherapy, as a maintenance therapy, checking periodically serum levels of NSE and cromogranine A. No side effects were observed
Influencia de la fertilización en el crecimiento de radicchio "Rosso di Chioggia" cultivado en dos ambientes diferentes
Este trabajo evalúa la influencia de la
fertilización en radicchio tipo "Rosso de Chioggia"
(precocidad media) sobre algunos índices de
crecimiento. Se realizaron ensayos durante dos
campañas en Rovigo (Italia) y una en Mendoza
(Argentina), aplicándose dosis crecientes de
NPK, identificadas como N0P0K0, N1P1K1,
N2P2K2, en Mendoza y en Rovigo, además,
N3P2K2. Durante el cultivo se calcularon
índices de crecimiento como: relative growth
rate (RGR), net assimilation rate (NAR), leaf
area ratio (LAR), specific leaf area (SLA), leaf
weigh ratio (LWR), crop growth ratio (CGR), leaf
area index (LAI) and leaf area duration (LAD).
En Mendoza, el CGR estuvo fuertemente
influenciado por NAR desde el trasplante hasta
alcanzar 776 grados días (GDD); desde 1052 a
1653 GDD el CGR fue afectado por el LAI el cual
aumentó marcadamente debido a las condiciones
ambientales favorables. Entre los 1052 y 1653
GDD el incremento del LAI determinó una
reducción en la eficiencia fotosintética. En Rovigo,
la tendencia de los índices fue disímil en los
dos años, encontrándose respuestas diferentes
en LAR y en SLA. En el segundo año, el CGR
siempre arrojó valores más altos, mientras que
NAR no difirió en ninguno de los años. En la
segunda mitad del ciclo, CGR estuvo fuertemente
asociado a una menor eficiencia fotosintética,
debido a la formación de la cabeza. Valores
elevados de LAI indicaron una extensión del ciclo,
retrasando la formación de la cabeza. Las plantas
alcanzaron la madurez comercial con LWR entre
0,35 - 0,40 g g-1. En ambos ambientes, no se
observó claramente el efecto de la fertilización
sobre los índices; si bien las dosis más altas
mostraron mayor actividad de crecimiento en las
etapas tempranas.This study evaluated the influence
of fertilization on some growth indexes in
radicchio "Rosso di Chioggia". The trial was
conducted in Rovigo (Italy) for two years and in
Mendoza (Argentina) for one year. Increasing
doses of macronutrients were considered,
identified as N0P0K0, N1P1K1, N2P2K2
and, only in Rovigo, N3P2K2. Some indexes
related to growth analysis: relative growth rate
(RGR), net assimilation rate (NAR), leaf area
ratio (LAR), specific leaf area (SLA), leaf weigh
ratio (LWR), crop growth ratio (CGR), leaf
area index (LAI) and leaf area duration (LAD)
were calculated during the growing cycle. At
Mendoza CGR was strongly influenced by
NAR from transplant until 776 growth degree
days (GDD). After that moment, CGR was
affected by LAI that increased markedly due
to favourable environmental conditions. From
1052 to 1653 GDD the high increase of LAI
determined a reduction in photosynthetic
efficiency. At Rovigo the trends in index values
showed differences between the two years
considered, especially in LAR and SLA. In the
second year CGR had always higher values;
mainly due to higher LAI values, since NAR did
not differ significantly during the years. In the
second half of the growing cycle, CGR was
instead strongly linked to a contraction of
photosynthetic effectiveness, due to head
formation. High LAI values showed a growing
cycle extension to the detriment of early head
formation. It was also observed that when
LWR is around 0.35 - 0.40 g g-1, the plant
reaches marketable maturation and is ready
to be harvested. In both environments, no
clear effects of fertilization were observed
on the growth indexes. In any case highly
fertilized plants showed higher growing
activity especially at the beginning of the

Interrogantes, reflexiones y aportes para intervenir desde la comunicación en los procesos de gestión de información y conocimiento en políticas públicas
El propósito de este artículo es reflexionar sobre la producción y gestión de la información y el conocimiento en el marco de las políticas públicas y sobre los aportes dela comunicación y el rol de los y las comunicadores/as en relación con ese quehacer. Con ese propósito, presentamos algunas cuestiones teóricas y metodológicas que sintetizan el enfoque sobre la producción y gestión de información y conocimiento desde el cual partimos, identificando los potenciales modos de intervención de los y las comunicadores/as. Sin pretender ser exhaustivas, mencionamos algunas de las funciones y tareas y, sobre la base de las mismas, concluimos identificando algunos de los roles que pueden desempeñar los y las comunicadores en ese campo, redefiniendo el rol más tradicional de productor-mediador de contenidos y mensajes, y complementándolo con otros roles como el de estratega-planificador y el de analizador/investigador de la dimensión comunicacional de temas y problemas que devienen en objeto de las políticas públicas y que, por tanto, se erigen en objeto de prácticas comunicacionales.The purpose of this article is to ponder on the production and management of information and knowledge within the framework of public policies, the contributions of communication and the role of communicators in relation to these tasks. For this purpose, we present some theoretical and methodological issues that summarize the approach on the production and management of information and knowledge, identifying potential modes of communicators` intervention. Without trying to be exhaustive, we mention some of the functions and tasks and, on the base of the same ones, end up by identifying some of the roles that communicators can recover, re-defining the most traditional role of producer - mediator of contents and messages, and complementing it with other roles like strategic - planner and analyzer / researcher of the communication dimension of topics and problems that develop into object of the public policies and that, therefore, are raised in object of communication practices.Fil: Bruno, Daniela. Mechanochemical synthesis of a novel eutectic of the antimicrobial nitazoxanide with improved dissolution performance
Nitazoxanide (NTZ) is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent with poor aqueous solubility and low bioavailability. Thus, the generation of new solid forms of NTZ is relevant to improve its unfavorable properties. The present study deals with the application of mechanochemistry for the preparation of alternate solid forms of NTZ, using saccharine (SAC) as coformer. Methods: NTZ-SAC mixtures were prepared by neat and liquid-assisted grinding (LAG) and characterized using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), hot stage microscopy (HSM), X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD), 13C Solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (SSNMR) and Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy. Powder dissolution (PD) profiles were obtained with USP apparatus 2 in buffer phosphate pH 6.5 with 0.25% TweenÒ 80 - 0.25% triethanolamine and in 0.25% sodium lauryl sulfate, at 37 ºC ± 0.5 ºC and 75 rpm. Drug release was characterized in terms of dissolution efficiency (DE). Results: XRPD, SSNMR and DRIFT indicated that NTZ and SAC did not cocrystallize but DSC and HSM revealed that they formed a binary eutectic mixture which melted near 176 °C, a melting temperature lower than those of NTZ and SAC. PD data indicated that the 1:1 NTZ-SAC sample obtained by LAG exhibited a slightly higher DE than pure NTZ in the two assayed media. Conclusion: NTZ and SAC formed a eutectic, the first reported for this drug, which improved its dissolution rate and opened the pathway for studies searching for new eutectics with better biopharmaceutical attributes than NTZ and the NTZ-SAC eutectic reported herein.Fil: Fandiño, Octavio Ezequiel.
