Polariton-mediated Raman scattering in microcavities: A Green's function approach
We present calculations of the intensity of polariton-mediated inelastic
light scattering in semiconductor microcavities within a Green's function
framework. In addition to reproducing the strong coupling of light and matter,
this method also enables the inclusion of damping mechanisms in a consistent
way. Our results show excellent agreement with recent Raman scattering

For reasons of population policy and missionary strategies, childcare was a relatively early issue of colonial medical policy and services in East Africa. The main challenge for the adaptation of biomedicine to the local situation proved to be not so much schemes for treatment or prevention, but rather the question of staffing. Education and employment of females, as well as social acceptance and keeping up professional standards of biomedically trained personnel, posed major obstacles to the implementation of governmental health policies. Emancipatory politics and the Mpondo revolts
This thesis aims to offer a revised view of the Mpondo revolts. The central theoretical concept of the thesis is that of emancipatory politics. Drawing predominantly on archival sources the primary concern of the thesis is to expose and interrogate certain aspects of this historical moment of popular politics which can be seen as emancipatory. In particular the notions of egalitarianism and universal human dignity will be analysed in relation to the popular political subjectivities, formations and praxes of the Mpondo revolts. In so doing this thesis attempts to make a meaningful contribution to present day debates concerning alternative theories of human emancipation by showing what emancipatory politics looked like historically and in practise within the context of the Mpondo revolts
Cavity polariton optomechanics: Polariton path to fully resonant dispersive coupling in optomechanical resonators
Resonant photoelastic coupling in semiconductor nanostructures opens new
perspectives for strongly enhanced light-sound interaction in optomechanical
resonators. One potential problem, however, is the reduction of the cavity
Q-factor induced by dissipation when the resonance is approached. We show in
this letter that cavity-polariton mediation in the light-matter process
overcomes this limitation allowing for a strongly enhanced photon-phonon
coupling without significant lifetime reduction in the strongly-coupled regime.
Huge optomechanical coupling factors in the PetaHz/nm range are envisaged,
three orders of magnitude larger than the backaction produced by the mechanical

ODIN - Small Punch Tensile/Fracture Test Datasets on Grade 91 steel from cryogenic to room temperature
Data collection containing small punch tensile/fracture data for tests on Grade 91 ferritic/martensitic steel performed between cryogenic and room temperatures. The material has the same chemical composition as P91/ T91 but is supplied in form of a plate rather than as pipe (P91) or tube (T91). The particular batch of Gr. 91 used in the present work (S50460) as part of the FP7 project MATTER was originally produced for the FP6 project EUROTRANS (project domain 4: DEMETRA). Disc-shaped small punch (SP) specimens as specified in the European Code of Practice were used. Their diameter was 8 mm and their thickness 0.5 mm. The surface roughness was less than Ra = 0.15 um on both sides. SP tensile/fracture mechanics tests were performed with varying displacement rates and temperatures as listed in Table 1. On the specimens tested at 0.5 mm/s X-ray computed tomography analysis has been carried out and the 3D surface has been reconstructed.JRC.F.4-Innovative Technologies for Nuclear Reactor Safet
Microcavity exciton-polariton mediated Raman scattering: Experiments and theory
We studied the intensity of resonant Raman scattering due to optical phonons
in a planar II-VI-type semiconductor microcavity in the regime of strong
coupling between light and matter. Two different sets of independent
experiments were performed at near outgoing resonance with the middle polariton
(MP)branch of the cavity. In the first, the Stokes-shifted photons were kept at
exact resonance with the MP, varying the photonic or excitonic character of the
polariton. In the second, only the incoming light wavelength was varied, and
the resonant profile of the inelastic scattered intensity was studied when the
system was tuned out of the resonant condition. Taking some matrix elements as
free parameters, both independent experiments are quantitatively described by a
model which incorporates lifetime effects in both excitons and photons, and the
coupling of the cavity photons to the electron-hole continuum. The model is
solved using a Green's function approach which treats the exciton-photon
