It begins with a brief overview of Community-Based Participatory Research and compares and contrasts its principles and methods with what this paper terms Tribally-Driven Participatory Research. The paper analyzes current challenges and offers concepts for continuing to improve the effectiveness of Tribally-Driven Participatory Research

Natural environment support guidelines for space shuttle tests and operations

All space shuttle events from launch through solid rocket booster recovery and orbiter landing are considered in terms of constraints placed on those operations by the natural environment. Thunderstorm activity is discussed as an example of a possible hazard. The activities most likely to require advanced detection and monitoring techniques are identified as those from deorbit decision to Orbiter landing. The inflexible flight plan will require the transmission of real time wind profile information below 24 km and warnings of thunderstorms or turbulence in the Orbiter flight path. Extensive aerial reconnaissance and communication facilities and procedures to permit immediate transmission of aircraft reports to the mission control authority and to the Orbiter will also be required

The Relationship of Leadership Effectiveness to L.P.C for University Department Chairmen

For most of recorded history leadership ability has been considered a simple variable linearly related to the effectiveness of a team of workers. Everyone possessed it to some degree. When a king or corporate president had a task to be accomplished, all he needed to do to maximize the probability of the task being completed vas to locate the individual with the greatest leadership skill available. For centuries man has tried to quantify this variable so that identification of good leaders could be achieved more accurately. After years of futile attempts at quantification, leadership theorists began in the early 1900\u27s to move away from the one best Way to lead posture to more complex schemas. In the last four decades, the focus of the research has centered more and more on the interaction between different types of leadership ability and particular job situations. However, it was not until Feed Fiedler provided the contingency model of leadership effectiveness that a strong theoretical structure was available (Fiedler, 1964)

The Effect of Tuition on Graduation Rate at Community Colleges

The community college mission has long included open access through low tuition (Vaughan, 2006). Financial challenges for community college students threaten open access (Shannon & Smith, 2006). Paying tuition plays a part in a student’s ability to graduate. A community colleges’ success is measured in part by graduation rates. President Obama challenged all colleges, including community colleges, to increase their graduation rates 50% by the year 2020 (Obama, 2009). The current study analyzed whether public, community colleges’ tuitions predicted their graduation rates using recent data and if size of enrollment moderated the relations between tuition and graduation rate. A two-block, hierarchical regression analysis was used for the current study. This study controlled for size of enrollment, percentage of students receiving Pell Grants or other federal grants, percentage of students receiving loans, and percentage of students from non-dominant groups. Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) data from 2012 were used for the present study. The goal of this study is to inform state and federal policy makers as well as community college leaders and practitioners and, also, fill the gap in knowledge for researchers concerning the question of whether tuition predicts community college graduation rate community colleges especially in the context of size of enrollment

An Effective Lagrangian with Broken Scale and Chiral Symmetry IV: Nucleons and Mesons at Finite Temperature

We study the finite temperature properties of an effective chiral Lagrangian which describes nuclear matter. Thermal fluctuations in both the nucleon and the meson fields are considered. The logarithmic and square root terms in the effective potential are evaluated by expansion and resummation with the result written in terms of the exponential integral and the error function, respectively. In the absence of explicit chiral symmetry breaking a phase transition restores the symmetry, but when the pion has a mass the transition is smooth.
