Neutron rich nuclei in density dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock theory with isovector mesons
Density dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock theory has been extended to
describe properties of exotic nuclei. The effects of Fock exchange terms and of
pi - and rho - meson contributions are discussed. These effects are found to be
more important for neutron rich nuclei than for nuclei near the valley of

Volcanism subprogram: Volcanological interpretation of the northern part of the Occidental Cordillera of Bolivia, utilizing ERTS imagery
The author has identified the following significant results. In the present study, 6 ERTS-1 images have been interpreted on a 1:1 million scale (black and white) with the respective field reconnaissance. The area studied is located in the region bordering with Chile and includes the western part of the Bolivian Altiplano, the volcano Cordillera (western cordillera) and the northern part of Chile to the Pacific Coast. The greater part of this region is formed by Pliocene/Pleistocene volcani rock, which is discordant with the Tertiary sediments with intercalations of calcareous tuff. The ERTS-1 imagery permits the tracing of regional boundaries of the great volcanic formations and the alinements of the volcanic bodies along the fault zones. They also permit a clear examination of the volcanic apparatus, including their secondary forms, such as lava flows, parasitic cones, and lava domes. Because of the great scale, it is not possible to identify either the small structures or those of low relief. On the basis of the interpretation of the images, it is possible to give an idea of the relative age of the volcanoes
Levy flights and Levy -Schroedinger semigroups
We analyze two different confining mechanisms for L\'{e}vy flights in the
presence of external potentials. One of them is due to a conservative force in
the corresponding Langevin equation. Another is implemented by
Levy-Schroedinger semigroups which induce so-called topological Levy processes
(Levy flights with locally modified jump rates in the master equation). Given a
stationary probability function (pdf) associated with the Langevin-based
fractional Fokker-Planck equation, we demonstrate that generically there exists
a topological L\'{e}vy process with the very same invariant pdf and in the

Dirac Hartree-Fock for Finite Nuclei Employing realistic Forces
We discuss two different approximation schemes for the self-consistent
solution of the {\it relativistic} Brueckner-Hartree-Fock equation for finite
nuclei. In the first scheme, the Dirac effects are deduced from corresponding
nuclear matter calculations, whereas in the second approach the local-density
approximation is used to account for the effects of correlations. The results
obtained by the two methods are very similar. Employing a realistic
one-boson-exchange potential (Bonn~A), the predictions for energies and radii
of O and Ca come out in substantially better agreement with
experiment as compared to non-relativistic approaches. As a by-product of our
study, it turns out that the Fock exchange-terms, ignored in a previous
investigation, are not negligible.Comment:
On the nucleon self-energy in nuclear matter
We consider the nucleon self-energy in nuclear matter in the absence of Pauli
blocking. It is evaluated using the partial-wave analysis of scattering
data. Our results are compared with that of a realistic calculation to estimate
the effect of this blocking. It is also possible to use our results as a check

Study of relativistic bound state wave functions in quasielastic (e,e'p) reactions
The unpolarized response functions of the quasielastic reaction are calculated for three different types of relativistic
bound state wave functions. The wave functions are obtained from relativistic
Hartree, relativistic Hartree-Fock and density dependent relativistic Hartree
calculations that reproduce the experimental charge radius of O. The
sensitivity of the unpolarized response functions to the single particle
structure of the different models is investigated in the relativistic plane
wave impulse approximation. Redistributions of the momentum dependence in the
longitudinal and transverse response function can be related to the binding
energy of the single particle states. The interference responses and
reveal a strong sensitivity to the small component of the relativistic

Effective DBHF Method for Asymmetric Nuclear Matter and Finite Nuclei
A new decomposition of the Dirac structure of nucleon self-energies in the
Dirac Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (DBHF) approach is adopted to investigate the
equation of state for asymmetric nuclear matter. The effective coupling
constants of , , and mesons with a density
dependence in the relativistic mean field approach are deduced by reproducing
the nucleon self-energy resulting from the DBHF at each density for symmetric
and asymmetric nuclear matter. With these couplings the properties of finite
nuclei are investigated. The agreement of charge radii and binding energies of
finite nuclei with the experimental data are improved simultaneously in
comparison with the projection method. It seems that the properties of finite
nuclei are sensitive to the scheme used for the DBHF self-energy extraction. We
may conclude that the properties of the asymmetric nuclear matter and finite
nuclei could be well described by the new decomposition approach of the G

Relativistic Structure of the Nucleon Self-Energy in Asymmetric Nuclei
The Dirac structure of the nucleon self-energy in asymmetric nuclear matter
cannot reliably be deduced from the momentum dependence of the single-particle
energies. It is demonstrated that such attempts yield an isospin dependence
with even a wrong sign. Relativistic studies of finite nuclei have been based
on such studies of asymmetric nuclear matter. The effects of these isospin

Neutron star properties and the equation of state of neutron-rich matter
We calculate total masses and radii of neutron stars (NS) for pure neutron
matter and nuclear matter in beta-equilibrium. We apply a relativistic nuclear
matter equation of state (EOS) derived from Dirac-Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (DBHF)
calculations. We use realistic nucleon-nucleon (NN) interactions defined in the
framework of the meson exchange potential models. Our results are compared with
other theoretical predictions and recent observational data. Suggestions for

Single QTL effects, epistasis, and pleiotropy account for two-thirds of the phenotypic F(2) variance of growth and obesity in DU6i x DBA/2 mice
Genes influencing body weight and composition and serum concentrations of leptin, insulin, and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) in nonfasting animals were mapped in an intercross of the extreme high-growth mouse line DU6i and the inbred line DBA/2. Significant loci with major effects (F > 7.07) for body weight, obesity, and muscle weight were found on chromosomes 1, 4, 5, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 17, for leptin on chromosome 14, for insulin on chromosome 4, and for IGF-I on chromosome 10 at the Igf1 gene locus itself and on chromosome 18. Significant interaction between different quantitative trait loci (QTL) positions was observed (P < 0.01). Evidence was found that loci having small direct effect on growth or obesity contribute to the obese phenotype by gene–gene interaction. The effects of QTLs, epistasis, and pleiotropy account for 64% and 63% of the phenotypic variance of body weight and fat accumulation and for over 32% of muscle weight and serum concentrations of leptin, and IGF-I in the F2 population of DU6i x DBA/2 mice.
