Private-label proneness: the case of yogurts

    Get PDF
This study aims to point out the main consumer correlates of store brand proneness in a specific industry, the Portuguese yogurt market. This is a booming industry for store brands in Portugal, reaching nearly half of the total market share. Based on the results of a survey we can conclude that consumers base their decisions on adopting a product on three different types of variables: price related variables, quality related variables and involvement with the product category related variables. The price related and the quality related variables have the most influence on consumers when selecting store brands of yogurts.info:eu-repo/semantics/submittedVersio

Determinantes psicográficos da adoção da marca do distribuidor: um estudo no mercado português de iogurtes

This study seeks to point out the main psychographic determinants of private-label brand proneness in a specific industry: the Portuguese yogurt market. This is a booming industry for store brands in Portugal, which account for nearly half of the total market share. An in-depth interview was held with a sales and marketing expert of the leading yogurt company in Portugal. Next, we conducted a survey targeting consumers of yogurt. Based on the results of a Tobit regression, we conclude that consumers base their decisions about private label versus national brands on three different types of variables: price-related variables, quality-related variables and variables related to involvement with the product category. Managerial implications are also discussed.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Is there room in hospitals for hospitality?

    Get PDF
This paper discusses the concept of hospitality in hospitals. Hospitals and hotels are excellent environments in which to study hospitality given the frequency and importance of interactions between service providers and clients. The research results reported are based on data gathered in indepth interviews conducted with hospital managers, doctors, nurses and patients. In this way, deeper insights were gained into areas of convergence between the tourism and health sectors. A content analysis of the interviews revealed the main dimensions of hospitality in the context of hospitals and healthcare.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

A paradigm shift in risk management in public–private partnership arrangements

    Get PDF
This research sought to determine how public-private partnership (PPP) arrangements can more efficiently address risk management issues using the example of Mozambique as a case study. Analyses of 15 interviews in this country were conducted using the Gioia methodology. The results indicate that integrating key risk indicators into PPP contracts can improve risk management. These measures have been widely used in company risk management. The indicators can serve as monitoring, reviewing and supervising tools, allowing the integration of external factors into PPP contracts at the right time, which is hard to predict when the contracts are signed. Key risk indicators can capture megatrends, track risk evolution and develop future scenarios throughout the entire lifecycle of contracts, preventing conflicts between partners, contract renegotiations or early contract terminations by facilitating an improved understanding of contracts' current realities. The findings suggest that these measures should be applied by PPP units. The proposed approach encourages originality and empirical research-based improvements of PPP risk management frameworks and provides guidelines for future studies.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

A Scoping Review on Studies of Cyberbullying Prevalence Among Adolescents

    Get PDF
This descriptive scoping aims to understand how the prevalence of cyberbullying has been estimated across studies. A systematic scoping review of cyberbullying empirical studies was conducted by using three bibliographic databases to search for papers published between January 2004 and August 2014. A protocol was defined to identify the relevant papers. Papers selected were included in a data sheet developed by the authors to record specific findings. In total, 159 studies were included in the scoping review. Most of the prevalence studies were conducted in the last 4 years, mainly in North America (n = 77) and in Europe (n = 65). High methodological heterogeneity was found among the studies, which may contribute to explain variability in prevalence estimates. Cyberbullying experiences were assessed through several different perspectives: focused only on victims, focused only on perpetrators, or focused on both victims and perpetrators (without differentiating between if they are victims or perpetrators). Most of the studies tend to assess cybervictimization experiences. However, even considering the same perspective, the same country, and the same recall period, a high variability in the estimates was observed. As a main conclusion, the way in which the prevalence of cyberbullying is estimated is influenced by methodological research options. The author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: This study was supported by FEDER funding from the Operational Programme Factors of Competitiveness—COMPETE and by national funding from the FCT—Foundation for Science and Technology (Portuguese Ministry of Education and Science) within the project ‘‘Violence in various stages of life: Frequency, determinants and consequences of health’’ (ref.
