Moving Multi-Channel Systems in a Finite Volume with Application to Proton-Proton Fusion
The spectrum of a system with multiple channels composed of two hadrons with
nonzero total momentum is determined in a finite cubic volume with periodic
boundary conditions using effective field theory methods. The results presented
are accurate up to exponentially suppressed corrections in the volume due to
the finite range of hadronic interactions. The formalism allows one to
determine the phase shifts and mixing parameters of pipi-KK isosinglet coupled
channels directly from Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics. We show that the
extension to more than two channels is straightforward and present the result
for three channels. From the energy quantization condition, the volume
dependence of electroweak matrix elements of two-hadron processes is extracted.
In the non-relativistic case, we pay close attention to processes that mix the
1S0-3S1 two-nucleon states, e.g. proton-proton fusion (pp -> d+ e^+ + nu_e),
and show how to determine the transition amplitude of such processes directly
from lattice QCD.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figure
Longitudinal oscillations in density stratified and expanding solar waveguides
Waves and oscillations can provide vital information about the internal
structure of waveguides they propagate in. Here, we analytically investigate
the effects of density and magnetic stratification on linear longitudinal
magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves. The focus of this paper is to study the
eigenmodes of these oscillations. It is our specific aim is to understand what
happens to these MHD waves generated in flux tubes with non-constant (e.g.,
expanding or magnetic bottle) cross-sectional area and density variations. The
governing equation of the longitudinal mode is derived and solved analytically
and numerically. In particular, the limit of the thin flux tube approximation
is examined. The general solution describing the slow longitudinal MHD waves in
an expanding magnetic flux tube with constant density is found. Longitudinal
MHD waves in density stratified loops with constant magnetic field are also
analyzed. From analytical solutions, the frequency ratio of the first overtone
and fundamental mode is investigated in stratified waveguides. For small
expansion, a linear dependence between the frequency ratio and the expansion
factor is found. From numerical calculations it was found that the frequency
ratio strongly depends on the density profile chosen and, in general, the
numerical results are in agreement with the analytical results. The relevance
of these results for solar magneto-seismology is discussed.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, published in ApJ, uses emulateap
Proposed financial model for sustainable corporate growth
Issues such as technical and economic capacity in the production of goods and services, administrative and financial management, and marketing policies, are crucial for sustainable growth of organizations, understood as a dynamic process that has an effect on value creation of organizations. The objective of this paper is to define a model including the particular aspects of policy affecting sustainable growth corporate, based on the quantification of financial components. For the realization of this document took into account various studies and research concepts and approaches discussed trying to identify factors of growth corporate, such as planning, control, management, financial management and human resources, monitoring and evaluation, among others.
