Global Public Health Leadership: Adaptation of the Maternal and Child Health Public Health Leadership Institute Curriculum for India

    Get PDF
Objectives: This study addresses the adaptation of the Maternal and Child Health Public Health Leadership Institute (MCH PHLI) curriculum in an international setting within the context of India. Methods: A qualitative study design was used consisting of an electronic survey, exploratory and semi-structured interviews with Indian MCH professionals. Field notes were manually coded to look for emerging themes and topics related to the study objectives. Results: Analysis revealed four emerged themes: leadership attributes; perceived need for MCH leadership training; culturally relevant leadership competencies; and perceived barriers to MCH PHLI adaptation. Conclusions: There is a perceived need for MCH leadership training in India. The MCH PHLI curriculum will need to be adapted to address program and cultural barriers identified in study analysis. Keywords: Leadership, India, workforce development, maternal and child healthMaster of Public Healt

The Impact of eHR on Professional Competence in HRM: Implications for the Development of HR Professionals

    Get PDF
[Excerpt] Information technology has been cited as a critical driver of HR’s transition from a focus on administrative tasks to a focus on serving as a strategic business partner. This strategic role not only adds a valuable dimension to the HR function but also changes the competencies that define the success of HR professionals. Interviews were conducted with HR representatives from 19 firms to examine the linkage between electronic human resources (eHR) and the reshaping of professional competence in HRM. Based on the findings, we draw implications for the development of HR competencies and identify learning strategies that HR professionals can utilize to fulfill their changing roles and responsibilities

On island sequences of labelings with a condition at distance two

AbstractAn L(2,1)-labeling of a graph G is a function f from the vertex set of G to the set of nonnegative integers such that |f(x)−f(y)|≄2 if d(x,y)=1, and |f(x)−f(y)|≄1 if d(x,y)=2, where d(x,y) denotes the distance between the pair of vertices x,y. The lambda number of G, denoted λ(G), is the minimum range of labels used over all L(2,1)-labelings of G. An L(2,1)-labeling of G which achieves the range λ(G) is referred to as a λ-labeling. A hole of an L(2,1)-labeling is an unused integer within the range of integers used. The hole index of G, denoted ρ(G), is the minimum number of holes taken over all its λ-labelings. An island of a given λ-labeling of G with ρ(G) holes is a maximal set of consecutive integers used by the labeling. Georges and Mauro [J.P. Georges, D.W. Mauro, On the structure of graphs with non-surjective L(2,1)-labelings, SIAM J. Discrete Math. 19 (2005) 208–223] inquired about the existence of a connected graph G with ρ(G)≄1 possessing two λ-labelings with different ordered sequences of island cardinalities. This paper provides an infinite family of such graphs together with their lambda numbers and hole indices. Key to our discussion is the determination of the path covering number of certain 2-sparse graphs, that is, graphs containing no pair of adjacent vertices of degree greater than 2

Diversion from Prosecution to Social Work in Scotland:A Snapshot of Current Patterns and an Examination of Practice in Three CJAs

    Get PDF
This report was commissioned by the Scottish Government (the SG) as a result of concerns raised by the diversion working group of the Pre-Disposal Programme Implementation Board. The numbers of cases diverted from prosecution have fallen in recent years (2006 onwards) and it was felt there was a need to investigate this issue further. This report details a small-scale research study on the use of social work related diversion schemes by Procurators Fiscal in Scotland

Brief description of six oil paintings

The basic theme for my semester's painting project has remained the same for all six paintings. I set out to create a compositional order in each that was to be preserved within the picture plane whether in very simple or in highly complex form. By using internal order for my central theme, I was merely segregating an element that must be present in any creative product for it to function as "art". While this sense of order always guided my efforts, it was also used as a framework within which the separate elements of color, form, and the by-product texture could be manipulated
