Understanding of the logic of nesting of the different realities of architectural space: pedagogical approach

Education of architecture in the first year at the national school of architecture and urbanism of Tunis is subject to different experiences drawing their theoretical foundations in several disciplinary fields. Considering the work of several scientists dealing with the perception of space, geometry, as well as effects of sense and the anthropological dimension of architecture, we have introduced a pedagogical approach to deal with architectural space according to the geometric tripartition: topological structures, projective structures and metric structures. The object of this article relate to the pedagogical approach of an exercise registering upstream from the last chapter ‘an introduction to architectural design’. This exercise is the accompaniment of the students in the understanding of the different types of apprehended spaces and the mechanisms underlying their relationship development.Peer Reviewe

Riots of the Other: An analysis of societal reactions to contemporary riots in disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the Netherlands

In this article I argue that there has been a change in the dynamics of riots in the Netherlands from the escalated political protests of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s to public disturbances in disadvantaged neighbourhoods that lack a clearly articulated political component in the last two decades. This article examines the societal reactions such recent ‘riots’ evoke and the means by which the demarcated autonomous and exogenous groups are designated as ‘the rioters’ through a process of ‘Othering’. It examines the 2007 ‘Slotervaart riot’ as an exemplary case of such recent ‘riots’ in the Netherlands. It concludes that placing the focus on demarcated groups of Others during recent ‘riots’ in the Netherlands allowed broader social problems to be placed outside the ‘normal’ or ‘pure’ societal body

A Contribution to Secure the Routing Protocol "Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing" Using a Symmetric Signature-Based AES and MD5 Hash

This work presents a contribution to secure the routing protocol GPSR (Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing) for vehicular ad hoc networks, we examine the possible attacks against GPSR and security solutions proposed by different research teams working on ad hoc network security. Then, we propose a solution to secure GPSR packet by adding a digital signature based on symmetric cryptography generated using the AES algorithm and the MD5 hash function more suited to a mobile environment

Sector footprints in occlusion: when and how?

    Get PDF
For the sake of saving time and material, sectoral impressions are used to record the prepared tooth, the adjacent teeth and the antagonistic teeth in occlusion. The occlusion sectoral impression technique is recognized as a precise and easy fast technique for inlays, onlays, unitary crowns or small bridges. The synergy of new fast-setting impression material with adapted impression gates is the key to the success of this technique

De Marokkanenpaniek: de sociale constructie van ‘Marokkanen’ als folk devils

Since the nineties, the ‘Moroccan community’ experiences a negative group-image based on a small group of male youths who ‘stand out’ in social problems such as nuisance, crime and Islamic radicalisation. This negative group image is largely constructed through negative societal reactions in the media on incidents in which Moroccan Dutch youngsters play a prominent role. This article examines such negative societal reactions in the media on three recent incidents: the 2007 Slotervaart riots, the 2008 Gouda ‘bus incident’ and the 2010 Culemborg riots. It concludes that the societal reactions to these incidents in the media, are exaggerated, symbolise ‘the Moroccans’ as folk devils and construct them as moral and cultural Others. Finally, it concludes that these negative societal reactions to ‘Moroccans’ in Dutch media can be seen as a disproportional and misplaced, but natural reaction of a dominant cultural majority to a threat to their cultural and moral hegemony, by ‘the Moroccans’ as a social deviant minority

Immediate unitary fixed restoration with natural crown

Post extraction of anterior teeth, and in order to find the esthetics and the fundamental functions in the immediate future, there is an original technique whose aesthetic result is incomparable since the absence of teeth will be restored by the crown of the tooth to be replaced, and will be kept in place thanks to the composite reinforced glass fibres

Possible Reasons for Spurious Regression in the Econometric Model (Case Study of Imports in the United States of America)

    Get PDF
Purpose: The research aims to identify statistical, econometric, and economic indicators to infer the problem of spurious regression.   Theoretical framework: The research used a descriptive and econometric approach to identify the dimensions of this problem and the most likely causes of its emergence.   Design/Methodology/Approach: The research estimated four equations, the first two are simple linear regressions (y, x1) and (y, x2), the third is a multiple linear regression equation (y, x1, x2), and the fourth is a double logarithmic regression equation for multiple linear regression. The results of the four equations were compared to assess the standard methods and explore spurious regression.   Findings: The research concluded with several findings, one of which is that a high value of the coefficient of determination (R2) in the absence of significance of the parameters is an indication of the problem of multicollinearity, and hence the possibility of spurious regression.   Research, Practical & Social implications: Spurious regression can lead to misleading conclusions about the relationships between economic variables, this can have negative consequences for economic policymaking and other decision-making processes. The research on spurious regression can help to improve the accuracy and reliability of economic analysis, which can benefit society as a whole.   Originality/Value: The paper could provide recommendations for how to avoid spurious regression in econometric models of imports. This could include recommendations for data collection, data preparation, and model specification
