Dynamics of Megaelectron Volt Electrons Observed in the Inner Belt by PROBA-V/EPT

Using the observations of the EPT (Energetic Particle Telescope) onboard the satellite PROBA-V we study the dynamics of inner and outer belt electrons from 500 keV to 8 MeV during quiet periods and geomagnetic storms. This high time-resolution (2 sec) spectrometer operating at the altitude of 820 km on a low polar orbit is providing continuously valuable electrons fluxes for already 5 years. We emphasize especially that some MeV electrons are observed in low quantities in the inner belt, even during periods when they are not observed by Van Allen Probe (VAP). We show that they are not due to proton contamination but to clear injections of particles from the outer belt during strong geomagnetic storms of March and June 2015, and September 2017. Electrons with lower energy are injected also during less strong storms and the L-shell of the electron flux peak in the outer belt shifts inward with a high dependence on the electron energy. With the new high resolution EPT instrument, we can study the dynamics of relativistic electrons, including MeV electrons in the inner radiation belt, revealing how and when such electrons are injected into the inner belt and how long they reside there before being scattered into the Earth's atmosphere or lost by other mechanisms

Cope with Stress in Manager Life

    Get PDF
The article deals with stress mainly in managerial positions. Stress is much extended in all aspects of our life and employment is an important factor which increases the level of stress. Managers have specific place between other occupations. At first the paper describes the most frequent stressors generally and kinds of coping stress methods. Then there are introduced some groups of stressors which are more frequent in managerial positions. The paper is closed by preventive methods of coping stress

The monitoring wears of intelligent cutting tools is the chief reason of my thesis. The material of cutting tools is ceramic on the basis of silicon nitride coated with a resistive layer. First of all is processed theoretical analysis of system SNOP with used parts. Next chapter parses problems of wears of cutting tool and measurement of it. In the following chapter will be described cutting cerramic with a view to nitrid ceremic. Main body of my work processes measured results and graphically interpret wears dependence on time. Results taken from experiment are summarised in the end of my work.346 - Katedra obrábění a montáževýborn

Organic versus conventional potatoes – is there basis for consumers preference?

    Get PDF
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of growing conditions on the quality of potatoes from organic farming systems as compared to that from conventional farming. In our previous study conducted in the years 1996 – 1999 we recognised some differences between the potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) from organic and conventional farming. To demonstrate the general validity of observed trends, follow up study was established in Czech Republic in the years 2002-2005. The ultimate goal of the project was to collate data for the assessment of a potential influence of foods from organic production system on consumers´ health by studying differences between potatoes grown in both systems (for this purpose the levels of potentially toxic compounds as well as nutritionally valuable components with regard to variety, geo-graphical location and inter-annual variation were determined)

Using the Balanced Scorecard concept for employee remuneration

    Get PDF
This article discusses the fairness of rewards and their motivational effects. It employs the idea that in order to drive higher productivity through the feeling of fair reward, it is advisable that employees are acquainted with the factors influencing the amount of the reward. Based on a survey performed in a major telecommunications com-pany, the article illustrates how to break down targets to those for specific employees. This breakdown is realised by means of the Balanced Scorecard concept and thus the acquired balanced set of criteria is used for personal bonus calculations. The benefits of the proposed solution are not only knowledge on individual staff contributions to the objectives of the company, but also the unusual use of metrics instead of objectives by breaking the compa-ny down into smaller scale levels
