[EN] There are many objectives that can be achieved through the use of the not-so “new technologies” and one can be to improve communication between students and teachers. Communication that presents many difficulties when the teaching subject has a very high theoretical component. That is why, a tool has been designed to enhance communication channels between students and the teacher. It has been developed in the subject ‘Theory of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage’, from the Degree of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage offered at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. A collaborative platform, where the student is the protagonist, has been created. Through this tool, there is also the aim to generate a highest student participation changing a possible negative perception of the subject on some students. The tool is called ‘Glossary C + R’. It is a website created in the academic year 2014/15, that has been improved since then thanks to the intervention of the subject’s students, who have voluntarily participated. Lichens as bioindicators of atmospheric heavy metal deposition in Valencia, Spain
The lichens due to their symbiotic nature have unique characteristics that confer them a
key role as bioindicators of the environmental contamination. Many investigations have been done using epiphytic lichens as bioindicators, but only a few of these studies have used epilithiccrustose lichens. Three different epilithic-crustose lichens species: Candelariella sp., Lecanora sp. and Caloplaca sp. were studied as bioindicators of V, Cr,Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Rb, Sr,Mo, Cd, Sb, Ba, Pb, Bi and U trace elements. Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry routine procedure is used to determining these element concentrations. Two sites were selected for lichens sampling according to environmental contamination. The lichens were collected on the facade of
the Santos Juanes church in an urban area of Valencia; and on the rural area of Albarracin. The main aim of this work is showing the efficacy of the epilithic-crustose lichens as bioindicators of the air pollution. This study shows that the city of Valencia, compared with the rural area has high levels of Cu and Pb as detected using lichens as bioindicators. Therefore on the basis of these results, it can be hypothesized that Candelariella sp., Lecanora sp. and Caloplaca sp. are good accumulators of air borne heavy metals. This work has financial support of the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion with a Ph.D. scholarship for Pilar Bosch Roig (BES-2006-12110) and with a three months stay scholarship to do this research in the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, Italy with Doctor Carlo Lalli.
[EN] The professional practice linked to the Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, Bachelor’s Degree in Design and Creative Technologies and Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, requires a critical capacity that must be developed during the formative stage as one
of the cross-cutting areas in the student’s knowledge and skills learning. Accordingly, teaching throughout this training period poses numerous challenges regarding the acquisition of knowledge and real learning by students. The case described in this article is part of an Educational Innovation and Improvement Project (PIME) that analyzes the use of evaluation as a learning method. The research carried out aims to offer tools to students so that they can know their evolution, allowing them to independently assess their learning and how it relates to academic results. Based on the work with the rubrics and their use for self-evaluation, students improve their knowledge on the course objectives. Group assessment using rubrics as a training resource
[EN] The work of the teacher is always in constant research, looking for new formulas that help
students in their learning. Thanks to an Educational Improvement Research project (PIME),
started in 2020, it has allowed us to develop guidelines with which students can understand
more deeply how to achieve the objectives proposed by the teacher through different forms
of evaluation. The first year of the project allowed us to conduct research through the use of
self-assessment through the use of rubrics, showing very satisfactory results, which is why
in this second year of the project we have focused on group evaluation, always applying it to
students. of the degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Goods of the Faculty of
Fine Arts of San Carlos of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. This work shows the
results obtained in two of the subjects of the aforementioned degree with the intention of
making known the importance of the use of these training resources, allowing students to be
Biocleaning of Cultural Heritage stone surfaces and frescoes: which delivery system can be the most appropriate?
[EN] The use of the advanced biotechnology of microbiological systems for the biological cleaning of Cultural Heritage (CH) has been recently improved and optimized taking into account different factors. Biocleaning systems have been indeed applied to historic buildings, statue,s and frescoes. Such application has developed new techniques and optimised and refined the existing systems. These systems remove altered forms like sulfate and nitrate crusts and organic substances like animal glue in a more effective, less invasive way than the traditional cleaning techniques. This review focuses on several delivery systems (sepiolite, hydrobiogel-97, cotton wool, carbogel, mortar and alginate beads, agar, and arbocel) used for the biocleaning of Cultural Heritage, comparing their main properties and characteristics, making a critical evaluation on how easy they can be applied, and on their future potentiality as ready-to-use and risk-free formulates. Therefore, this review will help conservation scientists, conservator-restorers, and researchers in the field to choose the most appropriate delivery system for any specific applications. This Project has been partially supported by the project VALi+d APOSTD/2013/024 from the Generalitat Valenciana, Spain.
[EN] The innovation and results obtained from designing and applying a survey based on science fiction superheroes are presented as a leveling instrument regarding the association of legal concepts and rights with the chosen characters. The innovation is applied to different degrees of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Characters well known to the students are chosen and the results obtained show us the ability to associate fundamental rights, as well as branches of the right to the characters, showing that the students perfectly differentiate and correctly associate the concepts. It is a gamification tool in the classroom based on science fiction that is very attractive for students and that can be extrapolated to any legal discipline and at any University for the assessment of knowledge by students.[ES] Se presenta la innovación y resultados obtenidos de diseñar y aplicar una encuesta basada en superhéroes de ciencia ficción como instrumento de nivelación referente a la asociación de conceptos jurídicos y derechos con los personajes elegidos. [EN] The present work presents the strategy and the results obtained in a teaching innovation
developed within the Educational Innovation and Improvement Project (PIMEs)
«Gamification and ICTs: design of audiovisual activities based on science fiction for the
dynamization of teachers in a face-to-face environment, blended and virtual» in which
various activities are designed for legal learning in the Degree in Food Science and Technology, at the Universitat Politècnica de València. Case study approach through films,
as well as the design of a card game and the use of futuristic food paintings allow the
students to apply the corresponding legislation. The results obtained are very positive, due
to the ability to associate images with the applicable legislation, in addition to being
attractive activities for students and increasing their participation in the classroom,
Bosch Roig, MDP.
