Decision-making through sustainability

From immemorial time, dams have contributed significantly for the progress of civilizations. For this reason, nowadays, there is a vast engineering heritage. Over the years, these infrastructures can present some ordinary maintenance issues associated with their normal operation or with ageing processes. Normally, these problems do not represent an important risk for the structure, but they have to be attended. To do it, owners of dams have to finance many ordinary interventions. As it is impossible to carry out all of them at the same time, managers have to make a decision and select the most “important” ones. However, it is not easy because interventions usually have very different natures (for example: repair a bottom outlet, change gates, seal a crack...) and they cannot use a classical risk analysis for these type of interventions. The authors, who are aware this problem, present, in this paper, a multi-criteria decision-making system to prioritize these interventions with the aim of providing engineers a useful tool, with which they can prioritize the interventions from the most important to the least. To do it, the authors have used MIVES. This tool defines the Prioritization Index for the Management of Hydraulic Structures (PIMHS), which assesses, in two phases, the contribution to sustainability of each intervention. The first phase measures the damage of the dam, and the second measures the social, environmental and economic impacts. Restricciones de energía eléctrica en los primeros años del Franquismo. La Delegación Técnica Especial para la regulación y distribución de energía eléctrica (DTE) 1944-1958

La carencia de energía eléctrica, de carburantes líquidos y de materias primas, en general, supuso un freno para la reconstrucción industrial durante los años de posguerra. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar y estudiar el organismo regulador del consumo de energía eléctrica creado durante los primeros años del franquismo. Las delegaciones técnicas especiales para la regulación y distribución de energía eléctrica (DTE) se crearon en todo el territorio del Estado español y fueron los organismos encargados de ordenar, distribuir y regular el consumo eléctrico durante estos años.The lack of electric power, of liquid fuels and of raw materials in general, supposed a brake for the industrial reconstruction, during the post-war period. The aim of this work is to analyze and study the regulatory organisation for the consumption of electric power created during the first years of the Franco’s regime. Fertilidad de los suelos y efectos de dos sistemas de riegos de dos parcelas en el termino municipal de Tavernes de la Valldigna

[ES] Este trabajo consiste en análisis diversos parámetros para compararlos con dos suelos agrícolas con distinto tipo de suelo pero mismo tipo de cultivo. Para realizar dicho análisis se tomaran diferentes muestras del suelo para evaluar sus parametros más caracteristicos como son: temperatura, humedad, conductividad eléctrica y cantidad de nutrientes utilizados, determinando asi otros parametros como pueden ser el pH, color, textura, materia orgánica, etc. Para averiguar algunos de sus parametros se ha utilizado el medidor de humedad HH2.En ambos campos se utiliza el metodo de riego por goteo que presenta mayores contras que el metodo de riego por inundación como puede ser el coste de la instalación, los goteros pueden sufrir taponamientos por lo que vale la pena invertir en un buen sistema de filtrado, cuando se instala el sistema de goteo no se puede labrar el terreno, alto coste de mantenimiento, mayor preparación técnica por parte del agricultor.[EN] This work consists in analyzing several parameters to compare them with two agricultural soils with different types of soil but the same type of crop. To perform this analysis, different samples of the soil will be taken to evaluate its most characteristic parameters such as: temperature, humidity, electrical conductivity and quantity of nutrients used, determining other parameters such as pH, color, texture, organic matter, etc. To find out some of its parameters, the humidity meter HH2 has been used. In both fields, the drip irrigation method is used, which has greater contras than the flood irrigation method, such as the cost of the installation.
