The Space of the City and Literary Imagination: the Legacy of Nikolai Antsiferov
This paper discusses the legacy of Nikolai Antsiferov (1889–1958), a Russian historian who suggested a unique approach to urban studies in which literature played the key role. In the first section of this paper, the genesis of Antsiferov’s conceptions of the study of urban history and the image of the city are outlined. The second section provides an analysis of his ideas on the literary image of St. Petersburg and the theory of literary-themed guided tours, which were articulated in his works of the 1920s. The finalsection of the article sheds light on the reception and legacy of Antsiferov’s intellectual ideas in the modern humanities and assesses its significance in the modern context of interdisciplinarity
Computer simulation of functioning of elements of security systems
The article is devoted to issues of development of the informational complex for simulation of functioning of the security system elements. The complex is described from the point of view of main objectives, a design concept and an interrelation of main elements. The proposed conception of the computer simulation provides an opportunity to simulate processes of security system work for training security staff during normal and emergency operation
Simulation of the effectiveness evaluation process of security systems
The paper is devoted to issues of creation of cross-functional analytical complex for simulation of the process of operation of the security system elements. Basic objectives, a design concept and an interrelation of main elements of the complex are described. The proposed conception of the analytical complex provides an opportunity to simulate processes for evaluating the effectiveness of physical protection system of a nuclear facility. The complex uses models, that take into account features of the object, parameters of technical means and tactics of adversaries. Recommendations were made for applying of this conception for training specialists in the field of physical protection of nuclear materials
Когда деревни были большими: воображаемые пространства на советском экране. Рец. на кн.: Мазур Л. Н., Горбачев О. В. Советские фильмы о деревне: опыт исторической интерпретации художественного образа. М. : РОССПЭН, 2022. 349 с., ил.
This article presents an attempt to comprehend Soviet rural cinematography as a mechanism of forming imaginary space. The Soviet cinema is analysed as one of the mechanisms of identity formation and place attachment based on Benedict Anderson’s concept. The cinema becomes an important mechanism for transforming nature and territory into environment and space. Examining Soviet Films about the Village: An Attempt at Historical Interpretation of the Artistic Image, a monograph by Lyudmila Mazur and Oleg Gorbachev, the article emphasises the authors’ innovative approach to understanding cinematography as a historical source, which makes it possible to reconstruct several aspects of life in the Soviet village at different periods of its existence. The authors offer a critical reflection on the concepts of Lyudmila Mazur and Oleg Gorbachev and an expanded comprehension of Soviet films on rural themes.
Application of conflictology methods for evaluating physical protection systems effectiveness
At present, physical protection of nuclear material and nuclear facilities is actual. For the implementation of physical protection, Physical Protection System (PPS) is created at nuclear facilities. We all know that the most important characteristic is effectiveness of physical protection systems. PPS effectiveness value is determined by the probability that reaction forces can stop and intercept the intruder. There are many methods to assess the effectiveness of PPS. However, not all methods can provide an accurate quantitative assessment of the effectiveness of security systems. This work presents an approach for assessing the resistance of PPS to emerging threat (that is, the intruder to act against items of physical protection).Based on the fact that different processes are subject to universal physical laws and principles of development, a parallel between the concepts of Conflictology field was established to describe the interaction in the system "intruder against PPS"
Design and R&D for the DEMO Toroidal Field Coils Based on Nb3Sn React and Wind Method
In 2013, the Swiss Plasma Center proposed a Toroidal Field (TF) layout for the DEMO-EUROfusion tokamak, based on a graded winding made of layers of Nb3Sn (react&wind) and NbTi conductors. The R&D effort led in 2015 to a full size prototype conductor tested up to 82.4 kA at 12.35 T. The test continued in 2016 and new results are presented. In summer 2015 a new reference baseline was issued for the DEMO-EUROfusion tokamak, leading to an update of the TF requirements. The design update is presented in this paper, with the winding pack consisting of 12 single layers of Nb3Sn with "invisible" (no protrusion) inter-layer joints. The high grade Nb3Sn react&wind conductor operates at 63.3 kA, 12.23 T with T-cs > 6.5 K. A new prototype conductor is being manufactured. The main advantages of the graded approach, applied to both the superconductor and the stainless s teel conduit, are a substantial space and cost saving compared to the wind&react approach with pancake winding
