    Behavior of Recycled Asphalt to the Fatigue

    Climatic and traffic effects are the causes of aging of the surface layer of asphalt, which leads to the necessary renovation of the latter. The use of waste from the tread layer provides a viable and beneficial solution for the environment and the economy. However, this solution must meet the requirement of sustainable development, which necessitates that a road has a very long lifespan. In this study we investigated the performance of recycled asphalt in terms of fatigue (as an element of life-cycle control). All the formulas were tested by the fatigue test in order to define the influence of the proportions of the asphalt aggregates, penetrability of the new binder used, and the manufacturing temperature. The results obtained showed the relationship between the contribution binder (reproduced between the new binder and the old binder) and the fatigue resistance under the influence of the parameters that we have mentioned above. At the end an optimization study has been carried in order to determine exactly the doses required to formulate recycled asphalt resisted to fatigue, the optimization seeks to maximize the asphalt aggregates and minimized the temperature of manufacture with a class of the binder compatible

    PHYTOCHEMICAL STUDY AND IN VITRO ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES OF HAMMADA SCOPARIA EXTRACTS FROM SOUTHEASTERN ALGERIA

    Objective: This study was carried out to determine the phytochemical constituents and to evaluate the antioxidant potential of the aerial part extracts of Hammada scoparia (Pomel) Iljin to validate the medicinal potential of this Algerian plant species.Methods: Crude extracts were prepared by cold maceration with absolute methanol and distilled water. Preliminary phytochemical screening is carried out to detect the presence of the major secondary metabolites using qualitative characterization methods. Quantitative estimation of total phenols, total flavonoids, flavanols, flavonols, and condensed tannins contents is performed using gallic acid, rutin, catechin, and quercetin as standards. In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated by the free radical scavenging activity by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity by scavenging of 2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical cation assay, and the ferric reducing power assay (ferric reducing antioxidant power).Results: Phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenes and sterols, saponins, and anthocyanins. Total phenols were present more in aqueous crude extract (ACE) with 336.756±0.855 mg gallic acid equivalent/g DM. Total flavonoids and flavonols were more abundant in methanolic crude extract (MCE) than ACE. However, condensed tannins and flavanols were present less in MCE with only 0.958±0.052 and 4.547±0.055 mg CE/g DM, respectively. The ACE of this plant species had greater antioxidant activity than the other extract by DPPH and ABTS assays (35.823±0.129 and 51.323±0.394 mg trolox equivalent/g DM). The better ferric reducing power (2060.535±2.566 mM Fe+2/g DM) was also recorded with the same extract.Conclusion: ACE of aerial part of H. scoparia (Pomel) Iljin showed a high amount of secondary metabolites. The obtained results confirmed that the extracting solvent influenced the antioxidant property estimations of this plant. Hence, the ACE can be further exploited further for in vitro and in vivo research work

    Facial expression recognition via a jointly-learned dual-branch network

    Human emotion recognition depends on facial expressions, and essentially on the extraction of relevant features. Accurate feature extraction is generally difficult due to the influence of external interference factors and the mislabelling of some datasets, such as the Fer2013 dataset. Deep learning approaches permit an automatic and intelligent feature extraction based on the input database. But, in the case of poor database distribution or insufficient diversity of database samples, extracted features will be negatively affected. Furthermore, one of the main challenges for efficient facial feature extraction and accurate facial expression recognition is the facial expression datasets, which are usually considerably small compared to other image datasets. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a new approach based on a dual-branch convolutional neural network for facial expression recognition, which is formed by three modules: The two first ones ensure features engineering stage by two branches, and features fusion and classification are performed by the third one. In the first branch, an improved convolutional part of the VGG network is used to benefit from its known robustness, the transfer learning technique with the EfficientNet network is applied in the second branch, to improve the quality of limited training samples in datasets. Finally, and in order to improve the recognition performance, a classification decision will be made based on the fusion of both branches’ feature maps. Based on the experimental results obtained on the Fer2013 and CK+ datasets, the proposed approach shows its superiority compared to several state-of-the-art results as well as using one model at a time. Those results are very competitive, especially for the CK+ dataset, for which the proposed dual branch model reaches an accuracy of 99.32, while for the FER-2013 dataset, the VGG-inspired CNN obtains an accuracy of 67.70, which is considered an acceptable accuracy, given the difficulty of the images of this dataset

    Antioxidant and hepatoprotective Potential of Coriandrum sativum L. against hepatic injury by Lambda-cyhalothrin insecticide

    The objective of this study is to evaluate the antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity of aerial part and seeds of Coriandrum sativum plant against Lambda cyhalothrin insecticide.  Male Wistar Albinos rats were randomly divided into control, LCT, CsA, CsS, CsS+LCT, CsA+LCT groups, after 90 days of treatments Biochemical, some oxidative stress parameters, and histopathology of liver tissue were evaluated. Total polyphenol content in aerial part and the seed extract estimated at 9.29 and 14.64 mg EAG / mg of extract and IC50 for an antioxidant activity equal to 19.38 and 22.62 mg/ml respectively. The obtained results revealed that rats received Lambda cyhalothrin insecticide showed a significant change in enzymes activity (AST, ALT, ALP and c-GT) and Glutathione (GSH) in liver. Meanwhile content of hepatic Malondialdehyde (MDA). Histopathology examination of liver revealed that Coriandrum sativum attenuate the incidence of liver lesions triggered by Lambda cyhalothrin intoxication. Therefore, the results of this study show that Coriandrum sativum can be proposed to protect the liver against Lambda cyhalothrin induced oxidative damage in rats, and the hepatoprotective effect might be correlated with its antioxidant and free radical scavenging effect.     Data-Driven Approach for Automatic Telephony Threat Analysis and Campaign Detection

    The growth of the telephone network and the availability of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) have both contributed to the availability of a flexible and easy to use artifact for users, but also to a significant increase in cyber-criminal activity. These criminals use emergent technologies to conduct illegal and suspicious activities. For instance, they use VoIP’s flexibility to abuse and scam victims. A lot of interest has been expressed into the analysis and assessment of telephony cyber-threats. A better understanding of these types of abuse is required in order to detect, mitigate, and attribute these attacks. The purpose of this research work is to generate relevant and timely telephony abuse intelligence that can support the mitigation and/or the investigation of such activities. To achieve this objective, we present, in this thesis, the design and implementation of a Telephony Abuse Intelligence Framework (TAINT) that automatically aggregates, analyzes and reports on telephony abuse activities. Such a framework monitors and analyzes, in near-real-time, crowd-sourced telephony complaints data from various sources. We deploy our framework on a large dataset of telephony complaints, spanning over seven years, to provide in-depth insights and intelligence about merging telephony threats. The framework presented in this thesis is of paramount importance when it comes to the mitigation, the prevention and the attribution of telephony abuse incidents. We analyze the data and report on the complaint distribution, the used numbers and the spoofed callers’ identifiers. In addition, we identify and geo-locate the sources of the phone calls, and further investigate the underlying telephony threats. Moreover, we quantify the similarity between reported phone numbers to unveil potential groups that are behind specific telephony abuse activities that are actually launched as telephony abuse campaigns

    Biocontrol from Rosmarinus officinalis extracts against pathogen fungi

    Rosmarinus officinalis is widely used for his anti-microbial activities .To this aim aqueous  methanolic and methanolic sonicaded  extracts of these plant were tested in vitro against deferent pathogenic strains: Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium verticillioides, Fusarium gramanirum, Fusarium sp, penicillium sp, Alternaria sp,  Colletotrichum sp;, by the contact bioassay method using a 1 mg / ml concentration of each extract. The two methanolic and methanolic extracts sonicated reduced mycelial growth with an inhibition rate which varied from 36 to 90% for the methanol extract and 50 to 90% for the methanolic extract sonicated. On the other hand, the aqueous extract exerted a weak activity with an inhibition rate of 20 to 48%. From the perspective of the results obtained, the two methanolic and methanolic extracts sonicated can be used as biocontrols to protect from  fungal diseases

    Biotransformation of anthracene and fluoranthene by Absidia fusca Linnemann

    A strain of Absidia fusca was isolated from a pesticide-contaminated soil (Annaba, Algeria). The biotransformation capability of this strain towards two polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs): anthracene and fluoranthene was compared to that exhibited by another strain of A. fusca isolated from a non-contaminated milieu and considered as a control. The results obtained were statistically analyzed and showed that the strain isolated from the contaminated soil was more efficient than the control to remove anthracene from the medium, during all the kinetics (90% removed versus 45% after 24 hrs). Concerning fluoranthene, the amount removed by both strains was very high during the first 24 hrs however the control strain was slightly more efficient (94% versus 89%) while the results were similar for the two strains during the rest of the kinetics. This study reveals for the first time the potential interest of the species A. fusca for the bioremediation of PAHs
