ACNP and NILDE: Essential Tools for Access to Scientific Research

This paper describes ACNP and NILDE, the two main Italian cooperative systems for access to scientific information. Used by the Italian Astronomical Libraries (IAL), they are two essential channels to access information resources that are otherwise unreachable. At the same time, they allow IAL (Italian Astronomical Libraries) to share their very rich and unique holdings with other research and university libraries

ACNP e NILDE, realtà di rilevanza nazionale per lo sviluppo dei servizi bibliotecari, hanno avviato una riflessione più ampia e un confronto con le più significative esperienze nazionali e internazionali. Nelle due giornate si è discusso dell'evoluzione dei cataloghi alla luce delle esigenze di integrazione e standardizzazione, in particolare con la rete ISSN, delle novità in tema di diritto d’autore, dei servizi per la comunità degli utenti. Sono stati inoltre presentati i nuovi ambienti di lavoro NILDE e ACNP.

Il secondo convegno congiunto ACNP / NILDE: ecosistemi per la ricerca è stato ospitato dal 22 al 23 maggio 2014 dall’Università di Trieste. Sono stati affrontati in un’ottica internazionale i temi del rapporto tra cataloghi collettivi e servizi interbibliotecari, e il più generale ambito dei servizi bibliografici per la ricerca scientifica. ACNP e NILDE possono essere considerati un vero e proprio ecosistema. Le biblioteche e i bibliotecari collaborano tra di loro in maniera reciproca e secondo modalità interconnesse, offrendo agli utenti servizi sempre più evoluti e dinamici. Questo ecosistema, essendo aperto, mette i propri servizi a disposizione della ricerca scientifica in senso generale. Il convegno di Trieste ha offerto l’occasione di investigare e proporre soluzioni innovative, interconnessioni e relazioni nuove e più proficue

<p>ACNP (The Italian Union Serial Catalogue), containing  more than 190,000 journals in various disciplines, and NILDE (Network Inter Library Document  Exchange), an online service that facilitates more than 800 libraries  to request and supply documents in a reciprocal manner, are two services based on similar management models linked with their users.                <br> ACNP and NILDE and their user communities in cooperation form the most important network for Italian libraries to share resources, services and professional practices and this represents a cooperation system working for the real access to scientific information which is hampered by high costs and restrictive policies.<br> The present talk illustrates both communities, focusing attention on the informational needs of the astronomical community.</p
