This article is the result of an interview and visit at the atelier of professor-researcher-artist Sandra Favero in the neighborhood of Sambaqui, north of the island of Florianópolis (SC) in October 2019. The present visual essay is composed by the work entitled “There’s nothing wrong going on” and is in a permanent process of creation. Merging different forms of production, they are graphic and conceptual changes in the Brazilian flag as a form of denunciation and indignation with the current chaotic-political-historical-social period of the country. The present article intends to demonstrate the importance of mediation as an active derivation of curatorship in art exhibitions, highlighting the concepts associated with the actions of this nature, developed by the Divisão de Artes Plásticas da Casa de Cultura da Universidade Estadual de Londrina [Fine Arts Division of the Culture House of the State University of Londrina]. We chose the exhibition "Empresta-me um de seus dias" [Lend me one of your days], from the "Arte Londrina" [Art Londrina] public notice, and from it the work "Espaço para gerar espaço" [Space to generate space], by the artist Gabriel Bonfim, for the connections between artwork and mediation. Empathy, listening and performativity are concepts that guide the issues proposed here.El presente artículo pretende demostrar la importancia de la mediación como derivación activa de la curaduría en las exposiciones de arte, destacando los conceptos asociados a las acciones de esta naturaleza, desarrolladas por la Divisão de Artes Plásticas da Casa de Cultura da Universidade Estadual de Londrina [División de Bellas Artes de la Casa de la Cultura de la Universidad Estatal de Londrina]. Elegimos la exposición "Empresta-me um de seus dias" [Préstame uno de tus días], del concurso "Arte Londrina", y de ahí la obra "Espaço para gerar espaço" [Espacio para generar espacio], del artista Gabriel Bonfim, por las conexiones entre obra de arte y mediación. Permeando paisagens

Na chamada para a edição v. 12, n. 28 (2020) da Revista Palíndromo intitulada CORPO PERCURSO PAISAGEM, recebemos um grande número de artigos de excelente qualidade explorando as possibilidades poéticas do movimento e reflexões do corpo, percursos e paisagens como parte de processos artísticos. Parte dos artigos recebidos foram publicados em janeiro deste ano, e o segundo grupo de textos selecionados foram organizados nesta edição sob o título Permeando Paisagens.

Periapical surgery on maxillary incisors for the treatment of persistent apical periodontitis

Em casos de persistência de lesões de periodontite apical em dentes submetidos ao retratamento endodôntico, a intervenção cirúrgica representa a alternativa capaz de tratar a infecção periapical sem condenar o elemento dentário à exodontia. Paciente do sexo feminino, 28 anos, procurou atendimento em consultório particular com queixa de desconforto à palpação na mucosa vestibular dos incisivos anteriores e histórico de duas intervenções endodônticas realizadas (tratamento e retratamento endodôntico). Ao exame clínico não foram observados sinais clínicos da inflamação tais como edema, eritema e fístula. O exame radiográfico evidenciou área radiolúcida envolvendo os ápices dos dentes 21 e 22. Para o estabelecimento de adequados diagnóstico e planejamento, foi solicitado exame de tomografia computadorizada de feixe cônico (TCFC) cujas imagens revelaram área hipodensa periapical com preservação de corticais ósseas vestibular e palatina. O plano de tratamento envolveu cirurgia periapical em ambos os dentes que incluiu curetagem, apicectomia, retropreparo, retro-obturação e colocação de enxerto ósseo bovino. O diagnóstico anatomopatológico foi de granuloma periapical. O controle radiográfico de dois anos demonstra completa reparação óssea. O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever um relato de caso clínico de intervenção cirúrgica periapical em dentes anteriores com periodontite apical persistente planejada a partir de exame de TCFC.   Palavras chave: Periodontite periapical, Cirurgia bucal, Apicectomia, Cicatrização, Tomografia computadorizada de feixe cônico.In cases of persistent apical periodontitis lesions in teeth submitted to endodontic retreatment, surgical intervention may be the only alternative capable of treating the periapical infection without condemning the tooth to extraction. A 28-year-old female patient sought care in a private office with the chief complaint of discomfort on palpation in the buccal mucosa of the anterior incisors and a history of two endodontic interventions performed (endodontic treatment and retreatment). On clinical examination, no clinical signs of inflammation such as edema, erythema and fistula were observed. The radiographic examination showed a radiolucent area involving the apices of teeth 21 and 22. For the establishment of adequate diagnosis and planning, a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) exam was requested, whose images revealed a hypodense periapical area with preservation of buccal and palatal cortical bone. The treatment plan involved periapical surgery on both teeth which included curettage, apicoectomy, root-end preparation and filling, and placement of bovine bone graft. The anatomopathological diagnosis was periapical granuloma. Two-year radiographic follow-up demonstrates complete bone repair. The aim of this study was to describe a case report of periapical surgical intervention in anterior teeth with persistent apical periodontitis whose planning was based on a CBCT scan.   Keywords: Periapical periodontitis, Apicectomy, Cone-beam computed tomograph

NEOTROPICAL CARNIVORES: a data set on carnivore distribution in the Neotropics

Mammalian carnivores are considered a key group in maintaining ecological health and can indicate potential ecological integrity in landscapes where they occur. Carnivores also hold high conservation value and their habitat requirements can guide management and conservation plans. The order Carnivora has 84 species from 8 families in the Neotropical region: Canidae; Felidae; Mephitidae; Mustelidae; Otariidae; Phocidae; Procyonidae; and Ursidae. Herein, we include published and unpublished data on native terrestrial Neotropical carnivores (Canidae; Felidae; Mephitidae; Mustelidae; Procyonidae; and Ursidae). NEOTROPICAL CARNIVORES is a publicly available data set that includes 99,605 data entries from 35,511 unique georeferenced coordinates. Detection/non-detection and quantitative data were obtained from 1818 to 2018 by researchers, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private consultants. Data were collected using several methods including camera trapping, museum collections, roadkill, line transect, and opportunistic records. Literature (peer-reviewed and grey literature) from Portuguese, Spanish and English were incorporated in this compilation. Most of the data set consists of detection data entries (n = 79,343; 79.7%) but also includes non-detection data (n = 20,262; 20.3%). Of those, 43.3% also include count data (n = 43,151). The information available in NEOTROPICAL CARNIVORES will contribute to macroecological, ecological, and conservation questions in multiple spatio-temporal perspectives. As carnivores play key roles in trophic interactions, a better understanding of their distribution and habitat requirements are essential to establish conservation management plans and safeguard the future ecological health of Neotropical ecosystems. Our data paper, combined with other large-scale data sets, has great potential to clarify species distribution and related ecological processes within the Neotropics. There are no copyright restrictions and no restriction for using data from this data paper, as long as the data paper is cited as the source of the information used.
