    FEEDBACK METHOD IN LECTURER-STUDENT INTERACTION

    The learning process at any stage involves direct interaction between the lecturer and students. The article discusses the lecturer-student relationship as one of the factors that influences the teaching process and improvement of learning materials on the example of the study course “Computer Science”. The study aims at using the results of the survey, as well as student tests as a feedback method to improve the quality of the presentation of new material to first-year students considering the basic knowledge of obtained secondary education. The article discusses two methods of feedback: survey and testing. Survey is considered a method with high efficiency of obtaining information, a possibility of organising mass surveys, an ability to accurately process student survey results. Testing is viewed as a method to identify the level of knowledge and skills, as well as the abilities and other qualities of the educator to meet certain standards by analysing the ways, in which a student performs a number of special tasks. Both methods perfectly complement each other and provide an opportunity to more objectively analyse the learning situation.     The Burnout and Professional Deformation of Latvian Healthcare Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic at the Traumatology and Orthopaedics Hospital

    Publisher Copyright: © 2023 by the authors.The COVID-19 pandemic is a global health crisis, which has created an additional burden on the healthcare system and has caused enormous stress and emotional burnout among healthcare workers (HCWs). The purpose of the study is to investigate the phenomena of emotional burnout and the professional deformation of HCWs. The emotional burnout phenomenon of the HCWs was studied using the Maslach Burnout Inventory–Human Services Survey. In addition, the Professional Deformation Survey, based on scientific literature and research works, was developed. The survey consisted of 4 subscales distinguishing: aggression, authoritarianism, demonstrativeness, and conservatism. The survey results showed a high level of emotional exhaustion, a medium level of depersonalization, and a low level of personal achievement reduction. The Professional Deformation Survey showed good reliability for the whole sample in all four subscales. Results of the professional deformation study revealed that 29% of respondents manifest aggression while performing their professional activities. Authoritarianism can be observed in 18% of respondents, demonstrativeness in—31%, and professional deformation manifested as conservatism in—22% of HCWs. Data obtained on burnout and the professional deformation of the HCWs proves that the healthcare system and health organizations have reason to be concerned about the mental well-being of HCWs and the quality of healthcare service provision.publishersversionPeer reviewe

    MāszinībasVeselības aprūpeNursing StudiesHealth CareMorālais distress kā nopietna problēma tiek apskatīta ne tikai veselības aprūpes sniedzēju vidū, bet arī veselības aprūpes sistēmā kopumā. Veselības aprūpē morālais distress tiek definēts kā parādība, kuras ietvaros māsa zina, kā ētiski pareizi rīkoties noteiktā situācijā, bet viņa jūtas bezspēcīga veikt šo darbību ētiski pareizi. Vairāki līdz šim veikti pētījumi liecina par to, ka tieši anestezioloģijas nodaļā un intensīvās terapijas nodaļā strādājošām māsām ir vidējs vai augsts morālais distress. Uz doto brīdi Latvijā nav veikti pētījumi par morālo distresu anestēzijas un intensīvās terapijas māsu vidū, kā arī līdz šim Latvijā nebija adaptēta neviena morāla distresa skala. Tāpat, nebija veikti pētījumi, kuros tiktu analizētas korelācijas starp morālā distresa rādītājiem un izdegšanas sindromu. Šī darba ietvaros veiktā pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt morālā distresa rādītājus un izdegšanas sindroma rādītājus praktizējošām anestēzijas un intensīvas terapijas māsām. Pētījumā izvirzītās hipotēzes: • H0 (nulles hipotēze) Pastāv saistība starp morālo distresu un izdegšanas rādītājiem praktizējošām māsām anestezioloģijā un intensīvajā terapijā. • H1 (alternatīva hipotēze) Nepastāv saistība starp morālo distresu un izdegšanas rādītājiem praktizējošām māsām anestezioloģijā un intensīvajā terapijā. Pētījuma metodes: kvantitatīvs, šķērsgriezuma, aprakstošs pētījums un korelāciju pētījums. Pētījuma izlase - Latvijas Republikas teritorijā reģistrētas un praktizējošas anestēzijas un intensīvās terapijas māsas. Pētījuma dalībnieku skaits – 184 māsas, vecuma robežās no 20 līdz 69 gadiem, ar vidējo darba stāžu - 20.28 gadi. Pētījumā apstiprināta H0 (nulles hipotēze), kas paredz, ka pastāv saistība starp morālo distresu un izdegšanas rādītājiem praktizējošām māsām anestezioloģijā un intensīvajā terapijā. H1 (alternatīvā) hipotēze netika apstiprināta. Pētījumā iegūtie rezultāti un literatūras apskats liecina, ka pastāv statistiski nozīmīga saistība starp morāla distresa rādītājiem un emocionāla izsīkuma rādītājiem, kā arī ar depersonalizācijas rādītājiem. Darbs sastāv no 58 lapaspusēm, 1 attēla, 20 tabulām un 9 pielikumiem. Darbā tika izmantoti 79 literatūras avoti. Atslēgas vārdi – anestēzijas māsa, intensīvās terapijas māsa, morālais distress, izdegšanas sindroms.Moral distress is recognized as a serious problem not only among health care providers, but also in the health care system in general. In health care, moral distress is defined as a phenomenon in which a nurse knows how to act ethically in a given situation but feels powerless to do so. Several studies to date have shown that nurses in the anaesthesiology and intensive care units have moderate to high moral distress levels. Before this paper, no research had been conducted on moral distress among anaesthesia and intensive care nurses in Latvia, and no moral distress scale had been adapted in Latvia. Also, no studies were performed to analyse the correlations between moral distress rates and burnout syndrome. The aim of this study was to investigate the rates of moral distress and burnout syndrome in nurses practicing anaesthesia and intensive care. Two hypotheses were put forward in this study: • H0 (null hypothesis) There is a relationship between moral distress and burnout rates in nurses practicing anaesthesiology and intensive care. • H1 (alternative hypothesis) There is no association between moral distress and burnout rates in nurses practicing anaesthesiology and intensive care. Research methods: quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive study and correlation study. Sample of the research - nurses registered in the territory of the Republic of Latvia and that are practicing in anaesthesia and intensive care. The sample of the study consists of 184 nurses, ranging in age from 20 to 69 years, with an average length of service of 20.28 years. The results of the conducted research confirmed H0 (null hypothesis), which suggests that there is an association between moral distress and burnout rates in nursing practitioners in anaesthesiology and intensive care. Hypothesis H1 (alternative) was not confirmed. The results of the study and a review of the existing literature suggests that there is a statistically significant relationship between moral distress rates and the rates of emotional exhaustion, as well as the rates of depersonalization. This paper consists of 58 pages, 1 picture, 20 tables and 9 appendices. 79 literature sources were used in the work.     Усложнение и нестабильность экономической среды жизнедеятельности современного человека выводят на первый план проблему личностной детерминации его экономического самоопределения, в том числе того её аспекта, который связан с эко-сбережением (природо-сбережением, социо-сбережением и само-сбережением). Успешность решения этой проблемы определяется наличием адекватного психологического инструментария (диагностического и психотехнологического). В статье приведены теоретико-методологические основания и результаты валидизации диагностического опросника Э-СО, предназначенного для изучения эко-сберегающих ориентаций субъекта экономического самоопределения. Полученные результаты могут быть использованы в психологической практике в целях диагностики и при разработке психологических технологий формирования эко-сберегающих ориентаций личности, а также в научных исследованиях личностной детерминации экономического поведения индивида и группы.The complexity and instability of the economic environment of contemporary life bring to the fore the question of individual determinants of economic self-determination, including aspects that are linked to eco-caring (environmental protection, social and self-preservation). The successful solution of this problem is determined by the availability of adequate psychological tools (diagnostic and psychotechnological).     The growing demands for the training of students and the need for continuous improvement of the quality of university education make it necessary to find and apply more effective educational technologies and practices based on the correlation of teaching with the student’s profile and his/her individual Learning Style. This article discusses the topic of relevance of personalized e-learning. It describes Learning Styles and looks at the Felder– Silverman model in more detail. The article contains the results of student surveys on the basis of which the interrelation between the Index of Learning Styles and academic performance is analysed. The relation between performance and learning styles according to the Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model is shown: in some specialties, students with sequential learning style have higher academic performance than students with global learning style, as well as students with mild learning style preferences on the Activist/Reflector dimension

    В статье определена значимость готовности студентов-бакалавров к разрешению конфликтов в современном образовательном процессе дошкольного образовательного учреждения (ДОУ). Анализ практики и оценка готовности педагогов-практиков к разрешению конфликтов, возникающих в образовательном процессе, подтверждают значение и место формирования этой готовности в структуре профессиональной подготовки в вузе. В статье охарактеризованы пути и способы формирования теоретической, психологической и практической готовности студентов-бакалавров к разрешению конфликтов детей дошкольного возраста. Приведен авторский подход к систематизации конфликтологических знаний и формированию конфликтологических умений будущих педагогов. Рассматриваются возможности использования «Ситуации успеха» как средства формирования положительного отношения первокурсников к решению сложных педагогических ситуаций. Авторами статьи обоснована целесообразность применения интерактивных технологий (кейс-стади, деловой игры и других), в ходе которых формируются конфликтологические умения видения конфликта, его анализа, рефлексии и выбора продуктивных стратегий и тактик разрешения конфликтов в образовательном процессе. В статье сформулированы основные критерии оценки готовности студентов-бакалавров к разрешению конфликтов в образовательном процессе . This article focuses on the importance of students-bachelors’ readiness to resolve conflicts in modern educational process at preschool educational institutions. The analysis of practice and the assessment of teachers’ readiness to resolve conflicts that occur in educational process confirm the value and importance of forming this readiness within the structure of vocational training in higher education institutions. The authors of the article characterize the ways to form theoretical, psychological and practical readiness of students-bachelors to resolve conflicts that children of preschool and school age have. The article reveals the authors’ approach to the systematization of students’ knowledge on conflicts and formation of corresponding skills. The article shows the possibilities to use “success situation” as means to form positive relation of the first-year students to the resolution of difficult pedagogical situations.The authors of the article prove the expediency to implement interactive technologies (case-studies and simulation games), that help to form necessary ability to identify conflicts, to analyze conflicts, to reflect on them, and to choose productive strategies and tactics to resolve conflicts in educational process.
