Detection of Truthful, Semi-Truthful, False and Other News with Arbitrary Topics Using BERT-Based Models

    Get PDF
Easy and uncontrolled access to the Internet provokes the wide propagation of false information, which freely circulates in the Internet. Researchers usually solve the problem of fake news detection (FND) in the framework of a known topic and binary classification. In this paper we study possibilities of BERT-based models to detect fake news in news flow with unknown topics and four categories: true, semi-true, false and other. The object of consideration is the dataset CheckThat! Lab proposed for the conference CLEF-2022. The subjects of consideration are the models SBERT, RoBERTa, and mBERT. To improve the quality of classification we use two methods: the addition of a known dataset (LIAR), and the combination of several classes (true + semi-true, false + semi-true). The results outperform the existing achievements, although the state-of-the-art in the FND area is still far from practical applications

GMDH-based Models for Mid-term Forecast of Cryptocurrencies (on example of Waves)

Cryptocurrencies became one of the main trends in modern economy. However by the moment the forecast of cryptocurrencies values is an open problem, which is almost non-reflected in publications related to finance market. Reasons consist in its novelty, large volatility and its strong dependence on subjective factors. In this experimental research we show possibilities of GMDH-technology to give weekly and monthly forecast for values of cryptocurrency \u27Waves\u27 (waves/euro rate). The source information is week data covering the period 2017-2019. We tests 4 algorithms from the GMDH Shell platform on the whole period and on the crisis period 4-th quarter 2017 - 2nd quarter 2018. Baseline is provided by the popular statistical method of double exponential smoothing. The results of Pilot study can be considered as the very promising ones having in view the large variability of data

The sudden onset and quick development of an unknown epidemic may lead to tragic consequences: panic of population due to victims and unpreparedness of authorities for effectively help to population. These circumstances define extremely high requirements to the tools for short-term operational forecast. Namely, such tools should provide reliable results when model of phenomenon is unknown (factors of disease spreading) and data are limited (time series of observations). GMDH-based algorithms just meet these requirements unlike modern differential or advanced statistical models. In this study we test different algorithms from GMDH Shell platform on the example of Covid-19 epidemic in Moscow during the period March 30-April 12, 2020. The forecast horizon is from 1 to 7 days, the initial information is only the official dynamics of diseased patients. Our model is autoregression with variables of different powers. The results of forecast are compared with the accuracy of popular statistical autoregression using exponential smoothing with trend. We suppose that the proposed approach will be useful for short-term forecast at the start of epidemic due to its simplicity and reliability

The primary cultures of epithelial cells used in our work were obtained from fresh samples of human biopsy material. A number of techniques including enzymatic solutions in different ratios were tested. By the method of flow cytometry the obtained cell cultures were evaluated by survival, proliferation, phenotypic composition and apoptosis.

Primary hyperparathyroidism with PTH values within the reference range: clinical case of a patient with recurrent nephrolithiasis

    Get PDF
Hyperparathyroidism is an endocrine disease characterized by excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) by the parathyroid glands. Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) can be diagnosed biochemically with the combination of hypercalcemia and upper-normal or elevated levels of PTH. There are few descriptions of PHPT with normal intact PTH secretion in the literature. The incidence of PHPT among patients with recurrent urolithiasis is 2–8%. We present a clinical case of diagnosing PHPT in a 64-year-old female patient with rare variant of the disease. Before establishing the diagnosis, the main patient complaints were long-term recurrent nephrolithiasis and nephrocalcinosis. Surgical treatment made it possible to achieve rapid normalization of biochemical parameters of calcium-phosphorus metabolism, increase bone mineral density in the lumbar spine, improve the general condition of the patient. This clinical case demonstrates errors and late diagnosis of PHPT associated with poor knowledge of the manifestations of hyperparathyroidism and its masks. The authors recommend to determine the concentrations of total calcium, albumin, serum levels of PTH in patients with clinical picture of PHPT, in order to exclude the disease

Charge density studies of multicentre two-electron bonding of an anion radical at non-ambient temperature and pressure

    Get PDF
The variation of charge density of two-electron multicentre bonding (pancake bonding) between semiquinone radicals with pressure and temperature was studied on a salt of 5, 6-dichloro-2, 3-dicyanosemiquinone radical anion (DDQ) with 4-cyano-N-methylpyridinium cation (4-CN) using the Transferable Aspheric Atom Model (TAAM) refinement. The pancake-bonded radical dimers are stacked by non-bonding π-interactions. With rising pressure, the covalent character of interactions between radicals increases, and above 2.55 GPa, the electron density indicates multicentric covalent interactions throughout the stack. The experimental charge densities were verified and corroborated by periodic DFT computations. The TAAM approach has been tested and validated for atomic resolution data measured at ambient pressure ; this work shows this approach can also be applied to diffraction data obtained at pressures up to several gigapascals
