    Evalution of genetic different between Litopenaeus vannamei of different race

    In this study, after determining history of origin entering white leg shrimp of broodstocks at hatcheries of country, finally, two population of Molokaei and High health were considered as shrimp broodstocks of specific disease free (SPF) zero generation. After inbreeding and cross breeding among adult males and females of two population above, three storage different were produced in the first generation: H♂ × M♀, M♂ × H♀ and H♀ × H♂. The second generation were produced from selective breeding of M♂ × H♀. The aim of this study was to determine genetic differences between different generations of specific pathogenic free shrimp by evaluation of 16S rRNA region mitochondrial of different generations. Result of this study showed that of 486 sites have been identified 484 sites were conserved. Also, monomorphic sites ranged between 482 - 486 sites and was consists 2 polymorphic sites and 2 transitional sites. The number haplotypes, haplotypes diversity, nucleotide diversity revealed in this region were 2, 0.356±0.159 and 0.00147, respectively. Due to the high genetic identify and reduce of genetic distance of shrimp between different generations of SPF shrimp, genetic differentiation and gene flow (Nm) between them were -.142 and -2.00, respectively. This rates clearly shows a low level of polymorphism in this region of mitochondrial of different generation of SPF. This may be occurred because of small effective populations and genetic drift. Thus, offspring had inherited mitochondrial genome from your mother, therefore, it is expected that rate of variation in this genome is influenced by several factors, including genetic drift, due to unavailability of new-broodstock from different areas. It was observed that due to high conservation sites in 16S rRNA region of mitochondrial genome, nothing genetic differentiation was observed among different generations of SPF

    Culture-proven endogenous endophthalmitis: microbiological and clinical survey

    Purpose: To report causative organisms, visual outcomes, and associated medical conditions in endogenous endophthalmitis (EE). Methods: Microbiological and medical reports of patients with culture-proven EE referred to Farabi Eye Hospital, Tehran, Iran, from January 2008 to January 2018 were reviewed. Results: A total of 144 cases (171 eyes) were included in the present study. Candida albicans (30.6) and Staphylococcus aureus (27.1) were the most prevalent microbial causes. Diabetes mellitus (43.8) and IV drug abuse (10.4) were the leading associated systemic conditions. Age of the patients (P = 0.002) and presenting corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) (P < 0.001) were correlated with postoperative CDVA. Patients with bilateral involvement had significantly lower mean logMAR (P = 0.002), and patients with hypopyon had significantly higher mean logMAR (P = 0.006). Eyes with gram-negative bacillus cultures had a significantly worse logMAR than eyes with gram-positive cocci (P = 0.009). Conclusion: Candida albicans and S. aureus were the most common causes of EE, and diabetes mellitus was the most common associated medical condition. EE is associated with poor visual outcome, especially in older patients, those with worse visual acuity at presentation, and those with positive cultures for gram-negative bacilli. © 2020, Springer Nature B.V

    The purpose of this research was to determine the optimal level of nitrogen fertilizer and planting date for cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) planting in Kooshkak region located in Doroodzan Dam Areas which represents a typical semiarid region. This research was carried out in the fall and winter 2000 and using a factorial experiment with two factors based on completely randomized block design with nitrogen fertilizer at three rates (0, 30, and 60 kg N ha-1) and sowing date (Nov. 6th, Dec. 21th, Feb. 6th, and March 6th) in four replications. The effects of different nitrogen rates were significant on plant height, number of umbrella per plant and number of seed per umbrella, but it was not significant on number of seeds per plant, 1000-seed weight, biological yield, seed yield and harvest index. The effects of sowing dates were significant on number of seeds per umbrella, number of seeds per plant; 1000-seed weight, biological yield and seed yield; but it was not significant on plant height and harvest index. The interaction of nitrogen rates and sowing dates were significant on plant height, number of umbrella per plant and seed yield, but it was not significant on number of seeds per umbrella, number of seeds per plant, 1000-seed weight, biological yield and harvest index. It was concluded that for obtaining the high cumin yield, application of 30 kg N ha-1 and the late planting date (February 6th and March 6th) due to probable winter cold, are recommended for this region

    Chlorhexidine monotherapy with adjunctive topical corticosteroids for acanthamoeba keratitis

    Purpose: To assess the efficacy of chlorhexidine monotherapy for Acanthamoeba keratitis, and to determine the therapeutic outcomes of concomitant topical corticosteroids. Methods: In this prospective interventional case series, 31 eyes of 31 patients with Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) were treated with chlorhexidine 0.02% as monotherapy, from April 2010 to April 2011. The diagnosis of AK was made based on clinical manifestations and positive confocal microscopic (confoscan 3.4, Nidek Co. Ltd., Gamagori, Japan) results. We report the percentage of a favorable clinical response within two weeks of initiating treatment, worsening of the infection while receiving chlorhexidine, recovery of visual acuity (VA), duration of treatment with chlorhexidine and corticosteroids, necessity for addition of other anti-Acanthamoeba agents, presence of corneal scar at the end of the treatment, and need for penetrating keratoplasty (PK). Results: Two weeks after initiation of chlorhexidine, improvement in signs and symptoms was observed in 26 (83.9%) patients but 3 eyes required the addition of propamidine. After initial improvement in one patient, the infection worsened, necessitating the addition of Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB) and propamidine. A total of 26 (83.9%) patients received topical corticosteroids with mean duration of 65.8 ± 45.1 days. In 22 (71%) eyes, final visual acuity was≥0.80. Improved VA occurred in 29 eyes (93.5%). Optical PK was considered in 3 (9.7%) eyes and a corneal scar developed in 8 (25.8%) eyes. Conclusion: Chlorhexidine is effective for monotherapy in AK and could be a good choice for initiating treatment. After the initial response to anti-Acanthamoeba agents, corticosteroids can be used as adjunctive therapy depending on the clinical condition
