High-Resolution Image Reconstruction from a Sequence of Rotated and Translated Frames and its Application to an Infrared Imaging System
Some imaging systems employ detector arrays that are not sufficiently dense to meet the Nyquist criterion during image acquisition. This is particularly true for many staring infrared imagers. Thus, the full resolution afforded by the optics is not being realized in such a system. This paper presents a technique for estimating a high-resolution image, with reduced aliasing, from a sequence of undersampled rotated and translationally shifted frames. Such an image sequence can be obtained if an imager is mounted on a moving platform, such as an aircraft. Several approaches to this type of problem have been proposed in the literature. Here we extend some of this previous work. In particular, we define an observation model that incorporates knowledge of the optical system and detector array. The high-resolution image estimate is formed by minimizing a regularized cost function based on the observation model. We show that with the proper choice of a tuning parameter, our algorithm exhibits robustness in the presence of noise. We consider both gradient descent and conjugate-gradient optimization procedures to minimize the cost function. Detailed experimental results are provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm using digital video from an infrared imager
Space of State Vectors in PT Symmetrical Quantum Mechanics
Space of states of PT symmetrical quantum mechanics is examined. Requirement
that eigenstates with different eigenvalues must be orthogonal leads to the
conclusion that eigenfunctions belong to the space with an indefinite metric.
The self consistent expressions for the probability amplitude and average value
of operator are suggested. Further specification of space of state vectors
yield the superselection rule, redefining notion of the superposition
principle. The expression for the probability current density, satisfying

Pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians, indefinite inner product spaces and their symmetries
We extend the definition of generalized parity , charge-conjugation
and time-reversal operators to nondiagonalizable pseudo-Hermitian
Hamiltonians, and we use these generalized operators to describe the full set
of symmetries of a pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian according to a fourfold
classification. In particular we show that and are the generators of
the antiunitary symmetries; moreover, a necessary and sufficient condition is
provided for a pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian to admit a -reflecting
symmetry which generates the -pseudounitary and the -pseudoantiunitary
symmetries. Finally, a physical example is considered and some hints on the

Resummation of mass terms in perturbative massless quantum field theory
The neutral massless scalar quantum field in four-dimensional
space-time is considered, which is subject to a simple bilinear
self-interaction. Is is well-known from renormalization theory that adding a
term of the form to the Lagrangean has the formal
effect of shifting the particle mass from the original zero value to m after
resummation of all two-leg insertions in the Feynman graphs appearing in the
perturbative expansion of the S-matrix. However, this resummation is
accompanied by some subtleties if done in a proper mathematical manner.
Although the model seems to be almost trivial, is shows many interesting
features which are useful for the understanding of the convergence behavior of
perturbation theory in general. Some important facts in connection with the
basic principles of quantum field theory and distribution theory are
highlighted, and a remark is made on possible generalizations of the
distribution spaces used in local quantum field theory. A short discussion how
one can view the spontaneous breakdown of gauge symmetry in massive gauge

The Premonitory Urge for Tics Scale in a large sample of children and adolescents: psychometric properties in a developmental context. An EMTICS study.
Premonitory urges are uncomfortable physical sensations preceding tics that occur in most individuals with a chronic tic disorder. The Premonitory Urge for Tics Scale (PUTS) is the most frequently used self-report measure to assess the severity of premonitory urges. We aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the PUTS in the largest sample size to date (n = 656), in children aged 3-16 years, from the baseline measurement of the longitudinal European Multicenter Tics in Children Study (EMTICS). Our psychometric evaluation was done in three age-groups: children aged 3-7 years (n = 103), children between 8 and 10 years (n = 253), and children aged 11-16 years (n = 300). The PUTS exhibited good internal reliability in children and adolescents, also under the age of 10, which is younger than previously thought. We observed significant but small correlations between the severity of urges and severity of tics and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and between severity of urges and ratings of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and internalizing and externalizing behaviors, however, only in children of 8-10 years. Consistent with previous results, the 10th item of the PUTS correlated less with the rest of the scale compared to the other items and, therefore, should not be used as part of the questionnaire. We found a two-factor structure of the PUTS in children of 11 years and older, distinguishing between sensory phenomena related to tics, and mental phenomena as often found in obsessive-compulsive disorder. The age-related differences observed in this study may indicate the need for the development of an age-specific questionnaire to assess premonitory urges

CoRoT 102749568: mode identification in a delta Scuti star based on regular spacings
The high accuracy of space data increased the number of the periodicities
determined for pulsating variable stars, but the mode identification is still a
critical point in the non-asymptotic regime. We use regularities in frequency
spacings for identifying the pulsation modes of the recently discovered delta
Sct star ID 102749568. In addition to analysing CoRoT light curves (15252
datapoints spanning 131 days), we obtained and analysed both spectroscopic and
extended multi-colour photometric data. We applied standard tools (MUFRAN,
Period04, SigSpec, and FAMIAS) for time-series analysis. A satisfactory
light-curve fit was obtaining by means of 52 independent modes and 15
combination terms. The frequency spacing revealed distinct peaks around large
(25.55-31.43 microHz), intermediate (9.80, 7.66 microHz), and low (2.35
microHz) separations. We directly identified 9 modes, and the l and n values of
other three modes were extrapolated. The combined application of spectroscopy,
multi-colour photometry, and modelling yielded the precise physical parameters
and confirmed the observational mode identification. The large separation
constrained the log g and related quantities. The dominant mode is the radial
