Stress-strain state and loss of stability of anisotropic thermal coating under thermal shock

    Get PDF
The deformation behavior of thermal barrier coatings has been investigated. The mechanism of occurring instabilities in such coatings based on their representation in the form of a plate located on an elastic foundation has been studied. Loss of stability manifests itself in the form of a doubly periodic system of intrusion and extrusion zones that is qualitatively consistent with the well-known experimental results. Typical features of stability loss and its dependence on the properties of conjugated materials have been investigated by the example of the thermal loading simulation of the copper specimen with a protective ceramic coating. The influence of the thermo-mechanical properties anisotropy of the coating material on the character of the emerging instability has been estimated

Research of the plastic flow of electrolytically saturated with hydrogen (He) Al-Cu-Mg alloy

The effect of hydrogen embrittlement on the plastic flow of Al-Cu-Mg alloy was investigated (HE). The studies were performed for the test samples of aluminum alloy subjected to electrolytic hydrogenation in a three electrode electrochemical cell. It is found that the mechanical properties and plastic flow curves of aluminum alloy are affected adversely by HE. These are found to show all the plastic flow stages: the linear, parabolic and pre-failure stages. It is established that the hydrogenation enhances the localization of straining leads to significant changes in the characteristics distances between local straining zones. The patterns of localized plasticity appear to be useful for a detailed analysis of plasticity exhibited by aluminum alloys

Ultrasound velocity measurements in high-chromium steel under plastic deformation

In the present study, the variation of the propagation velocity of ultrasound in the plastic deformation of corrosion-resistant high-chromium steel 40X13 with ferrite-carbide (delivery status), martensitic (quenched) and sorbitol (after high-temperature tempering) structures have beem studied/ It is found that each state shows its view of the loading curve. In the delivery state diagram loading is substantially parabolic throughout, while in the martensitic state contains only linear strain hardening step and in the sorbitol state the plastic flow curve is three-step. The velocity of ultrasonic surface waves (Rayleigh waves) was measured simultaneously with the registration of the loading curve in the investigated steel in tension. It is shown that the dependence of the velocity of ultrasound in active loading is determined by the law of plastic flow, that is, the staging of the corresponding diagram of loading. Structural state of the investigated steel is not only changing the type of the deformation curve under uniaxial tension, but also changes the nature of ultrasound speed of deformation

The effect of hydrogen embrittlement on the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy

The effect of hydrogen embrittlement on the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy D1 was investigated. The studies were performed for the test samples of aluminum alloy subjected to electrolytic hydrogenation. It is found that the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy are affected adversely by hydrogen embrittlement. The hydrogenated counterpart of alloy has a lower degree of ductility relative to the original alloy; however, the plastic flow behavior of material remains virtually unaffected. The deformation diagrams were examined for the deformed samples of aluminum alloy. These are found to show all the plastic flow stages: the linear, parabolic and pre-failure stages would occur for the respective values of the exponent n from the Ludwik-Holomon equation. Microhardness tests were performed for as-treated aluminum alloy D1; the measurement results are presented

Pioneers of the Nuclear Industry in the Urals: V. F. Turusin

The creation of the domestic nuclear industry, which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2020, was of exceptional importance for our country and largely determined its post-war history. Thanks to the nuclear industry, nuclear parity was achieved in a short time, which became a guarantee of protection from a global catastrophe, and the state’s defense capability was ensured. In this jubilee year for the industry, it is especially important to pay tribute to the pioneers, whose work and talent created the country’s nuclear power. The article is dedicated to one of the pioneers of the nuclear industry - VF Turusin, who devoted his entire career to the Mayak chemical plant (now the Mayak production association) and to the city of nuclear scientists - Ozersk.

Predicting the severity of viral bronchiolitis in children

    Get PDF
Acute viral bronchiolitis is one of the common causes of hospitalization and mortality, especially among children in the first year of life who have risk factors (prematurity, congenital heart defects, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, immunosuppression). As factors associated with the severe course of bronchiolitis, along with the traditional ones, single nucleotide polymorphisms of the genes of the immune response molecules can be considered. The aim. Based on the analysis of clinical, laboratory and molecular genetic parameters, to identify prognostic criteria for the severe course of acute viral bronchiolitis in children.Materials and methods. The study included 106 children with acute viral bronchiolitis (severe course – 34, mild course – 72), the etiology of which in 67.9 % was respiratory syncytial virus. Forty-seven anamnestic, clinical, traditional laboratory and molecular genetic parameters were assessed as prognostic criteria. Determination of SNP genes of cytokines IL-4 (C-589T), IL-10 (G-1082A), IL-10 (C-592A), IL-10 (C-819T), TNF-α (G-308A), IL-17A (G197A), IL-17F (His161Arg), TLR2-753ArgGln, TLR6-Ser249Pro in venous blood was carried out by the polymerase chain reaction method.Results. An additional criterion for the risk of developing a severe course of bronchiolitis can be the mutant genotype (AA) SNP of the IL-10 gene (C-592A), which was detected exclusively in the group of patients with severe bronchiolitis, increasing the risk of developing a severe disease by 16.11 times (OR = 16.11; 95 % CI: 0.81–121.22, p = 0.02) in conjunction with already established modifying factors: the presence of congenital heart disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, prematurity, birth weight < 1500 g. Based on a comprehensive assessment of the established risk factors, a method has been developed that allows calculate the likelihood of developing a severe course of acute viral bronchiolitis. Conclusion. The use of the developed prediction method will not only increase the likelihood of developing severe acute viral bronchiolitis in children, but also determine the priority group among children with predictors of severe viral bronchiolitis for priority immunoprophylaxis against RS-virus infection
