The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of slanted recession of the lateral rectus muscle for intermittent exotropia with convergence insufficiency. This prospective study included 31 patients who underwent slanted lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia with convergence insufficiency between June 2010 and June 2012. Following parameters were recorded and analyzed: patient sex, age, preoperative and postoperative near and distance ocular alignment, and changes in stereopsis. The mean age of the patients was 9.2 years. The preoperative mean deviation angle was 32.4 PD at distance and 43.4 PD at near. After 6 months, slanted lateral rectus recession reduced the deviation angles to 2 PD at distance and 3.4 PD at near. In addition, the mean difference between distance and near deviation angles was significantly reduced from 11 PD to 1.4 PD at 6 months postoperatively. Slanted lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia with convergence insufficiency in children successfully reduced the distance and near exodeviations and the near-distance difference without increasing the risk of long-term postoperative esotropia or diplopia

Abstract

Background

One of the most promising aspects of metabolomics is metabolic modeling and simulation. Central to such applications is automated high-throughput identification and quantification of metabolites. NMR spectroscopy is a reproducible, nondestructive, and nonselective method that has served as the foundation of metabolomics studies. However, the automated high-throughput identification and quantification of metabolites in NMR spectroscopy is limited by severe spectral overlap. Although numerous software programs have been developed for resolving overlapping resonances, as well as for identifying and quantifying metabolites, most of these programs are frequency-domain methods, considerably influenced by phase shifts and baseline distortions, and effective only in small-scale studies. Almost all these programs require multiple spectra for each application, and do not automatically identify and quantify metabolites in batches.

Results

We created IQMNMR, an R package that integrates a relaxation algorithm, digital filter, and similarity search algorithm. It differs from existing software in that it is a time-domain method; it uses not only frequency to resolve overlapping resonances but also relaxation time constants; it requires only one NMR spectrum per application; is uninfluenced by phase shifts and baseline distortions; and most important, yields a batch of quantified metabolites.

Conclusions

IQMNMR provides a solution that can automatically identify and quantify metabolites by one-dimensional proton NMR spectroscopy. Its time-domain nature, stability against phase shifts and baseline distortions, requirement for only one NMR spectrum, and capability to output a batch of quantified metabolites are of considerable significance to metabolic modeling and simulation.

IQMNMR is available at
.</p

This research aimed to know the effect of inflation rate, SBI rate, Rupiah exchange rate, Dow Jones index, KLSE index towards Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI). Types of research used in explanatory research with quantitative approach. The sample was based on monthly time series data from January 2010 - December 2013, used full sampling method which consist of 48 samples. This research used multiple linear regression method. The value coefficient of determination (R2) 0,84, means the independent variables inflation rate, SBI rate, Rupiah exchange rate, Dow Jones index, KLSE index, explain the dependent variable Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI) up to 84% and the remaining 16% explained by the other that had not been examined. Simultaneous test result (F test), indicating that inflation rate, SBI rate, Rupiah exchange rate, Dow Jones index, KLSE index has significant effect on the Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI) simultaneously. Partial test result (t test), indicates that inflation rate showed a insignificant influence on CSPI, while SBI rate and Rupiah exchange rate had a negative effect and significant to CSPI, Dow Jones index and KLSE index had a positive and significant to CSPI. The most dominant influential variable in this research is Dow Jones Index

Abstract—The integration of cooperative transmission into satellite networks is regarded as an effective strategy to increase the energy efficiency as well as the coverage of satellite communications. This paper investigates the performance of an amplifyand-forward (AF) hybrid satellite-terrestrial relay network (HSTRN), where the links of the two hops undergo Shadowed- Rician andRayleigh fadingdistributions, respectively.By assuming that a single antenna relay is used to assist the signal transmission between the multi-antenna satellite and multi-antenna mobile terminal, and multiple interferers corrupt both the relay and destination, we first obtain the equivalent end-to-end signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the system. Then, an approximate yet very accurate closed-form expression for the ergodic capacity of the HSTRN is derived. The analytical lower bound expressions are also obtained to efficiently evaluate the outage probability (OP) and average symbol error rate (ASER) of the system. Furthermore, the asymptotic OP and ASER expressions are developed at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to reveal the achievable diversity order and array gain of the considered HSTRN. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate of the analytical results, and show the impact of various parameters on the system performance

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C9H8N2O2, contains two molecules. In the crystal structure, both molecules form inversion dimers via pairs of O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and a C—H⋯O interation is also seen

Traffic restrictions during the 2008 Olympic Games reduced urban heat intensity and extent in Beijing

Satellite thermal remote sensing has been utilized to examine the urban heat dynamics in relation to the urban traffic restriction policy. During the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the traffic volume was approximately cut off by half through the road space rationing. Based on daily MODIS satellite thermal observations on the surface temperature, statistical models were developed to analyze the contribution of traffic volume reduction to the urban heat intensity and spatial extent. Our analyses show that cutting off half of the traffic volume has led to a marked decrease in the mean surface temperature by 1.5–2.4 °C and shrinkage of the heat extent by 820 km2 in Beijing. This research suggests that the impact of urban traffic on heat intensity is considerably larger than previously thought, and the management of urban traffic and vehicle fossil fuel use should be included in the future urban heat mitigation plan

AbstractThis article proposes a highly reliable power and communication system that guarantees the protection of essential instruments in a nuclear power plant under a severe accident. Both power and communication lines are established with not only conventional wired channels, but also the proposed wireless channels for emergency reserve. An inductive power transfer system is selected due to its robust power transfer characteristics under high temperature, high pressure, and highly humid environments with a large amount of scattered debris after a severe accident. A thermal insulation box and a glass-fiber reinforced plastic box are proposed to protect the essential instruments, including vulnerable electronic circuits, from extremely high temperatures of up to 627°C and pressure of up to 5 bar. The proposed wireless power and communication system is experimentally verified by an inductive power transfer system prototype having a dipole coil structure and prototype Zigbee modules over a 7-m distance, where both the thermal insulation box and the glass-fiber reinforced plastic box are fabricated and tested using a high-temperature chamber. Moreover, an experiment on the effects of a high radiation environment on various electronic devices is conducted based on the radiation test having a maximum accumulated dose of 27 Mrad
