    Increasing Distributed Generation Penetration using Soft Normally-Open Points

    This paper considers the effects of various voltage control solutions on facilitating an increase in allowable levels of distributed generation installation before voltage violations occur. In particular, the voltage control solution that is focused on is the implementation of `soft' normally-open points (SNOPs), a term which refers to power electronic devices installed in place of a normally-open point in a medium-voltage distribution network which allows for control of real and reactive power flows between each end point of its installation sites. While other benefits of SNOP installation are discussed, the intent of this paper is to determine whether SNOPs are a viable alternative to other voltage control strategies for this particular application. As such, the SNOPs ability to affect the voltage profile along feeders within a distribution system is focused on with other voltage control options used for comparative purposes. Results from studies on multiple network models with varying topologies are presented and a case study which considers economic benefits of increasing feasible DG penetration is also given

    The relay-converter interface influences hydrolysis of ATP by skeletal muscle myosin II

    The interface between relay and converter domain of muscle myosin is critical for optimal myosin performance. Using Drosophila melanogaster indirect flight muscle S1 we performed a kinetic analysis of the effect of mutations in the converter and relay domain. Introduction of a mutation (R759E) in the converter domain inhibits the steady-state ATPase of myosin S1, whereas an additional mutation in the relay domain (N509K) is able to restore the ATPase towards wild-type values. The S1-R759E construct showed little effect on most steps of the actomyosin ATPase cycle. The exception was a 25-30% reduction in the rate constant of the hydrolysis step, the step coupled to the cross-bridge recovery stroke and involving a change in conformation at the relay/converter domain interface. Significantly the double mutant restored the hydrolysis step to values similar to the wild-type myosin. Modelling the relay/converter interface suggests a possible interaction between converter residue 759 and relay residue 509 in the actin-detached conformation, which is lost in R759E but is restored in N509K/R759E. This detailed kinetic analysis of Drosophila myosin carrying the R759E mutation shows that the interface between the relay loop and converter domain is important for fine tuning myosin kinetics, in particular ATP binding and hydrolysis

    In the year 2000 the Dutch Reformed church in 's-Heerenberg was restored, notably the roof of the church was in a bad condition. This opportunity was seized to document various parts of the building, particularly focused on the remains of a large wooden bell tower once standing next to the church. When it was demolished in 1821 much of the old timber was used to hang the bells in the church attic. 's-Heerenberg is a small town in the east of the Netherlands, situated close to the large mediaeval castle Huis Bergh. In 1259 the count Van den Bergh founded a chapel in the place of the present church, which was gradually extended in the course of the Middle Ages and elevated to parish church for the residents of the town in 1399. By the year 1496 the church had acquired such dimensions that on the west side the nave of the church bordered on the castle moat. Consequently, there was no space to build a tower there and this was probably the reason for building a large free-standing bell tower on the north side of the church. As the churchmaster's bill for that year has been preserved, we have a wealth of information on the construction of the tower and the founding of the bells. Three bells were hung in the tower, founded by the renowned bell-founder from Kampen, Geert van Wou. During the Eighty Years' War the church building was severely damaged, but the bell tower seems to have emerged from the battle intact. However, in 1617 it had fallen into ruin to such an extent that it had to be fundamentally restored, to which the town population contributed by means of a collection

Kenmerkendvoor de cessie is de schuldeisersvervanging. Een cessie kan vanwege deze schuldeisersvervanging nadelig zijn voor de schuldenaar, terwijl cessiebeperkingen nadelig kunnen zijn voor de schuldeiser/cedenten de cessionaris. Voor zover de betrokkenen dezebelangentegenstelling door middel van vrijwilligebilaterale of trilaterale transacties kunnen oplossen,hoeft het recht niet in een uitkomst te voorzien. Hetrecht kan vrijwillige transacties bevorderen door rekening te houden met onder meer transactiekosten.Voor zover een vrijwillige transactie niet mogelijk is,is het vanuit rechtseconomisch oogpunt wenselijkdat het recht in een uitkomst voorziet die partijenzouden hebben bereikt als een vrijwillige transactiewel mogelijk zou zijn geweest.     The restoration of the former deanery, the house of the 'propositus' of Saint Lebuinus's chapter and church in Deventer, resulted in an interim report of the building-historical and archaeological investigations. This Romanesque building erected around 1130 (dendrochronological date) functioned as a gate of the immunity of the church, situated along the Carolingian border of the settlement. The gate lost its function in the course of the enlargement of the town during the late 12th century. Within the medieval town plan the gate and the house played a central part. The old core of the building consists of thick, massive walls of natural stone imported from the Rhine area, such as: tufa, trachyte and a kind of limestone from the interior of Roman aqueducts. Not only the building materials, but also the architectural forms, including the five Romanesque windows, point to a German influence at that time. In the middle of the 13th century the vaulted rooms of the gate were extended with two vaulted bays, later on with a third, and functioned as a chapel until the Reformation. The archaeological excavations gave information on the early phases of the building, older activities on this spot, a wooden structure, ceramics (of the type of Dorestad W IVa) and glass down to the late 9th century. Very rare in this case was the complete stratification of the soil from the 9th century to the 12th century
