Brief review of the searches for the rare decays and
The current experimental status of the searches for the very rare decays
and is discussed.
These channels are highly sensitive to various extensions of the Standard
Model, specially in the scalar and pseudoscalar sector. The recent, most
sensitive measurements from the CDF, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb collaborations are
discussed and the combined upper exclusion limit on the branching fractions
determined by the LHC experiments is shown to be for and for . The implications of these tight bounds on a selected set of New Physics

Minimal Flavour Violation and Beyond
Starting from the effective-theory framework for Minimal Flavour Violation,
we give a systematic definition of next-to-minimal (quark) flavour violation in
terms of a set of spurion fields exhibiting a particular hierarchy with respect
to a small (Wolfenstein-like) parameter. A few illustrative examples and their
consequences for charged and neutral decays with different quark chiralities
are worked out in some detail. Our framework can be used as a model-independent
classification scheme for the parameterization of flavour structure from

Transitions in Family-dependent Models
We analyze flavor-changing-neutral-current (FCNC) effects in the
transitions that are induced by family non-universal gauge symmetries.
After systematically developing the necessary formalism, we present a
correlated analysis for the processes. We adopt a
model-independent approach in which we only require family-universal charges
for the first and second generations and small fermion mixing angles. We
analyze the constraints on the resulting parameter space from
mixing and the time-dependent CP asymmetries of the penguin-dominated decays. Our results indicate that the
currently observed discrepancies in some of these modes with respect to the
Standard Model predictions can be consistently accommodated within this general

Symmetries and Asymmetries of B -> K* mu+ mu- Decays in the Standard Model and Beyond
The rare decay B -> K* (-> K pi) mu+ mu- is regarded as one of the crucial
channels for B physics as the polarization of the K* allows a precise angular
reconstruction resulting in many observables that offer new important tests of
the Standard Model and its extensions. These angular observables can be
expressed in terms of CP-conserving and CP-violating quantities which we study
in terms of the full form factors calculated from QCD sum rules on the
light-cone, including QCD factorization corrections. We investigate all
observables in the context of the Standard Model and various New Physics
models, in particular the Littlest Higgs model with T-parity and various MSSM
scenarios, identifying those observables with small to moderate dependence on
hadronic quantities and large impact of New Physics. One important result of
our studies is that new CP-violating phases will produce clean signals in
CP-violating asymmetries. We also identify a number of correlations between
various observables which will allow a clear distinction between different New

On CP Asymmetries in Two-, Three- and Four-Body D Decays
Indirect and direct CP violations have been established in K_L and B_d
decays. They have been found in two-body decay channels -- with the exception
of K_L to pi^+ pi^- e^+ e^- transitions. Evidence for direct CP asymmetry has
just appeared in LHCb data on A_{CP}(D^0 to K^+ K^-) - A_{CP}(D^0 to pi^+ pi^-)
with 3.5 sigma significance. Manifestations of New Dynamics (ND) can appear in
CP asymmetries just below experimental bounds. We discuss D^{\pm}_{(s)},
D^0/\bar D^0 and D_L/D_S transitions to 2-, 3- and 4-body final states with a
comment on predictions for inclusive vs. exclusive CP asymmetries. In
particular we discuss T asymmetries in D to h_1 h_2 l^+ l^- in analogy with K_L
to pi^+ pi^- e^+ e^- transitions due to interference between M1, internal
bremsstrahlung and possible E1 amplitudes. Such an effect depends on the
strength of CP violation originating from the ND -- as discussed here for
Little Higgs Models with T parity and non-minimal Higgs sectors -- but also in
the interferences between these amplitudes even in the Standard Model (SM).
More general lessons can be learnt for T asymmetries in non-leptonic D decays
like D to h_1h_2 h_3 h_4. Such manifestations of ND can be tested at LHCb and
other Super-Flavour Factories like the projects at KEK near Tokyo and at Tor

Inferior frontal oscillations reveal visuo-motor matching for actions and speech: evidence from human intracranial recordings.
The neural correspondence between the systems responsible for the execution and recognition of actions has been suggested both in humans and non-human primates. Apart from being a key region of this visuo-motor observation-execution matching (OEM) system, the human inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) is also important for speech production. The functional overlap of visuo-motor OEM and speech, together with the phylogenetic history of the IFG as a motor area, has led to the idea that speech function has evolved from pre-existing motor systems and to the hypothesis that an OEM system may exist also for speech. However, visuo-motor OEM and speech OEM have never been compared directly. We used electrocorticography to analyze oscillations recorded from intracranial electrodes in human fronto-parieto-temporal cortex during visuo-motor (executing or visually observing an action) and speech OEM tasks (verbally describing an action using the first or third person pronoun). The results show that neural activity related to visuo-motor OEM is widespread in the frontal, parietal, and temporal regions. Speech OEM also elicited widespread responses partly overlapping with visuo-motor OEM sites (bilaterally), including frontal, parietal, and temporal regions. Interestingly a more focal region, the inferior frontal gyrus (bilaterally), showed both visuo-motor OEM and speech OEM properties independent of orolingual speech-unrelated movements. Building on the methodological advantages in human invasive electrocorticography, the present findings provide highly precise spatial and temporal information to support the existence of a modality-independent action representation system in the human brain that is shared between systems for performing, interpreting and describing actions
Clinical and radiographic outcomes after posterior vertebral column resection for severe spinal deformity with five-year follow-up
Particle-Antiparticle Mixing, epsilon_K, Delta Gamma_q, A_SL^q, A_CP(B_d -> psi K_S), A_CP(B_s -> psi phi) and B -> X_{s,d} gamma in the Littlest Higgs Model with T-Parity
We calculate a number of observables related to particle-antiparticle mixing
in the Littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT). The resulting effective
Hamiltonian for Delta F=2 transitions agrees with the one of Hubisz et al., but
our phenomenological analysis goes far beyond the one of these authors. In
particular, we point out that the presence of mirror fermions with new flavour
and CP-violating interactions allows to remove the possible Standard Model (SM)
discrepancy between the CP asymmetry S_{psi K_S} and large values of |V_ub| and
to obtain for the mass difference Delta M_s < (Delta M_s)_SM as suggested by
the recent result by the CDF collaboration. We also identify a scenario in
which simultaneously significant enhancements of the CP asymmetries S_{phi psi}
and A_SL^q relative to the SM are possible, while satisfying all existing
constraints, in particular from the B -> X_s gamma decay and A_CP(B -> X_s
gamma) that are presented in the LHT model here for the first time. In another
scenario the second, non-SM, value for the angle gamma=-(109+-6) from tree
level decays, although unlikely, can be made consistent with all existing data
with the help of mirror fermions. We present a number of correlations between
the observables in question and study the implications of our results for the
mass spectrum and the weak mixing matrix of mirror fermions. In the most
interesting scenarios, the latter one turns out to have a hierarchical

Infection tracking in travellers using a mobile app (ITIT): the pilot study
BACKGROUND: Current surveillance of travellers' health captures only a small proportion of illness events. We aimed to evaluate the usability and feasibility of using an app to enable travellers to self-report illness. METHOD: This pilot study assesses a novel mobile application called Infection Tracking in Travellers (ITIT) that records travel-related symptoms with associated geolocation and weather data. Participants were recruited in three Swiss travel clinics between December 2021 and March 2022. A feedback survey was used to examine app ease of use, and data from the app was used to examine travel and illness patterns as a proof-of-concept for the larger ITIT study. RESULTS: Participants were recruited from Zurich, Basel, and Geneva, with 37 individuals completing a total of 394 questionnaires in 116 locations in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. Illness symptoms were reported by 41% of participants, 67% of which were respiratory. The post travel questionnaire showed that all participants found the app easy to use and 63% said they would recommend it to others. Several users provided suggestions for improved usability. CONCLUSION: The app fulfilled its function as a research tool linking infection symptoms with geolocation and climate data
