Core-crust transition pressure for relativistic slowly rotating neutron stars

We study the influence of core-\textit{crust} transition pressure changes on the general dynamical properties of neutron star configurations. First we study the matching conditions in core-\textit{crust} transition pressure region, where phase transitions in the equation of state causes energy density jumps. Then using a surface \textit{crust} approximation, we can construct configurations where the matter is described by the equation of state of the core of the star and the core-\textit{crust} transition pressure. We will consider neutron stars in the slow rotation limit, considering perturbation theory up to second order in the angular velocity so that the deformation of the star is also taken into account. The junction determines the parameters of the star such as total mass, angular and quadrupolar momentum.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

School to work transitions and the impact of public expenditure on education

In this paper we analyse how the decentralization process of the Spanish educational system has affected the school-to-work transition of youths over the last years. Using individual data from the Spanish Labor Force Survey for the period 1993-2002, we estimate a simultaneous equation model for the unemployment and employment hazard rates of these workers. We include public expenditure on education, at the regional level, as an explanatory factor in both hazards. Furthermore we account for cross-regional differences regarding the decision-making authority over education. Our results reveal that for both, university and non-university levels, public expenditure on education significantly improves the chances of Spanish youths in finding the first job after completing the educational system. Furthermore, it seems that the decentralization of university education has positive effects on youths’ labor market prospects in terms of exiting from unemployment. However, we find that such decentralization has no effects over the likelihood of loosing the first job. Finally, we find that public expenditure on non-university education reduces the individual likelihood of leaving the first job especially in those regions without competences in education.educational expenditure, decentralization, unemployment hazard, emplyment hazard, gasto educativo, descentralización,tasa de salida del desempleo, tasa de despido.

Detection of the onset of nanocrystallization by calorimetric and magnetic measurements

It is generally accepted that measurements of the magnetic properties are more sensitive than measurements of the enthalpy changes in the detection of the onset of crystallization of ferromagnetic phases emerging from a paramagnetic amorphous alloy. In this work, it is shown that the formation of a very fine nanocrystalline microstructure can make this assumption incorrect. Under some circumstances, the nanocrystallization onset temperature obtained from magnetic techniques is higher than the one obtained from enthalpy changes. The phenomenon is explained in terms of the superparamagnetic behavior of the uncoupled nanocrystals at the very early stages of nanocrystallizatio
