Background: Early comprehensive treatment models (CTMs) have been developed as effective treatments for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Numerous studies have suggested that CTMs can improve short-term outcomes, but little is known about precise outcome information in childhood. The current meta-analysis reviewed studies reporting broader outcomes in children with ASD who had ever participated in a CTM and examined the predictors of developmental gains. Methods: We searched eight databases up to June 13, 2019, for relevant trials and natural experiments. Longitudinal studies were selected if they investigated the outcomes of CTMs. Two meta-analyses were undertaken to provide a summary estimate of change in treatment outcomes and to evaluate the effect of CTMs; one used the standardized mean change between the pretest and posttest, and the other was a classical meta-analysis. Stratified and random-effects meta-regression analyses were performed to search for outcome differences among studies. Results: Eighteen intervention studies (involving 495 children with ASD) met all the inclusion criteria: 12 used early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI), and two used the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). Outcomes were categorized into three parts: cognitive, language and behavioral (e.g., adaptive functioning and symptomatology). Overall, most children with ASD who had ever participated in an early CTM made gains in many areas of functioning, especially in terms of symptom- and language-related outcomes. Stratified analyses indicated that the ESDM displayed the largest effect on IQ improvement (ES = 1.37, 95% CI: 0.95 to 1.80), while EIBI was more effective for symptom reduction (ES = −1.27, 95% CI: −1.96 to −0.58). Further, meta-regression suggested that interventions with parent involvement, higher intensity, and longer treatment hours yielded greater improvements in IQ and social adaptive functioning, respectively. Conclusion: The results demonstrate a positive association between CTMs and better prognosis in childhood, especially regarding symptoms, and language. However, most extant research involves small, non-randomized studies, preventing definitive conclusions from being drawn. Clearly, the outcomes of children with ASD are still far from normal, especially with respect to adaptive functioning, and the four mediating variables pertaining to treatment elements can affect their gains, including approach, implementer, intensity, and total treatment hours

This is an article in the field of mining engineering. Aiming at problems of high cost and high comminution rate in the iron enriched sludge pelletizing process, a new kind of low cost binder was developed. In this paper, the effects of water content, pressure and drying temperature on the falling strength and comminution rate of the pellets were studied. The results show that when the binder ratio is 1.5%, the falling strength of the raw pellets is more than 5 times/m, the falling strength of dried ball is more than 28 times/2 m, the comminution rate is less than 2%, which meets the requirements of production. At the same time, the binder cost of per ton pellet is reduced by 35% compared with the previous binder

Abstract Background CT examination for lung cancer has been carried out for more than 20 years and great achievements have been made in the early detection of lung cancer. However, in the clinical work, a large number of advanced central lung squamous cell carcinoma are still detected through bronchoscopy. Meanwhile, a part of CT-occult central lung squamous cell carcinoma and squamous epithelial precancerous lesions are also accidentally detected through bronchoscopy. Methods This study retrospectively collects the medical records of patients in the bronchoscopy room of the Endoscopy Department of Zhejiang Cancer Hospital from January 2014 to December 2018. The inclusion criteria for patients includes: 1.Patient medical records completed, 2.Without history of lung cancer before the diagnosis and first pathological diagnosis of primary lung cancer, 3.Have the lung CT data of the same period, 4.Have the bronchoscopy records and related pathological diagnosis, 5.The patients undergoing radical surgical treatment must have a complete postoperative pathological diagnosis. Finally, a total of 10,851 patients with primary lung cancer are included in the study, including 7175 males and 3676 females, aged 22–98 years. Firstly, 130 patients with CT-occult lesions are extracted and their clinical features are analyzed. Then, 604 cases of single central squamous cell carcinoma and 3569 cases of peripheral adenocarcinoma are extracted and compares in postoperative tumor diameter and lymph node metastasis. Results 115 cases of CT-occult central lung squamous cell carcinoma and 15 cases of squamous epithelial precancerous lesions are found. In the total lung cancer, the proportion of CT-occult lesions is 130/10,851 (1.20%). Meanwhile, all these patients are middle-aged and elderly men with a history of heavy smoking. There are statistically significant differences in postoperative median tumor diameter (3.65 cm vs.1.70 cm, P < 0.0001) and lymph node metastasis rate (50.99% vs.13.06%, P < 0.0001) between 604 patients with operable single central lung squamous cell carcinoma and 3569 patients with operable peripheral lung adenocarcinoma. Of the 604 patients with squamous cell carcinoma, 96.52% (583/604) are male with a history of heavy smoking and aged 40–82 years with a median age of 64 years. Conclusions This study indicates that the current lung CT examination of lung cancer is indeed insufficiency for the early diagnosis of central squamous cell carcinoma and squamous epithelial precancerous lesions. Further bronchoscopy in middle-aged and elderly men with a history of heavy smoking can make up for the lack of routine lung CT examination

Abstract Background Due to the fact that the CT-occult central lung squamous cell carcinoma and squamous epithelial precancerous lesions. (CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL) cannot be detected by lung CT screening, early and timely diagnosis of central lung cancer becomes very difficult, which directly affects the prognosis of patients. Methods We retrospectively review medical records of patients at the Zhejiang Cancer Hospital and enrolled 41 patients with the CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL and 48 patients without the CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL. We compare the clinical characteristics, imaging features and Changes in the number of pixels under different CT value intervals of patients with and without the CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL and we perform univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis to explore independent factors for the CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL in the patients. Results We demonstrate that pack-years ≥ 20 (OR: 3.848, 95% CI: 1.086 ~ 13.633), the number of pixels change of CT value in interval [-850 ~ -750HU] (OR: 5.302, 95% CI: 1.122 ~ 25.057) and in interval [-900 ~ -850HU] (OR: 3.478, 95% CI: 1.167 ~ 10.365) are independently associated with the CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL in the patients. Ultimately, the logistic model obtained is statistically significant (p < 0.05) and an area under the ROC curve is 0.776 (95% CI: 0.682–0.870). The sensitivity of this model is 90.2% and the specificity is 52.1%. Conclusion The results of this study indicate that in the CT value range [-950 ~ -750HU], when the total number of lung pixels tend to increase towards the region with high CT value, the probability of the occurrence of CT-occult CLSCC and SEPL lesions also increases. Meanwhile, these results have guiding significance for the further study of radiomic

The 1 wt % Li-doped (Ba0.85Ca0.15)(Zr0.1Ti0.9)O3 (BCZT-Li) ceramics prepared by the citrate method exhibit improved phase purity, densification and electrical properties, which provide prospective possibility to develop high-performance electrocaloric materials. The electrocaloric effect was evaluated by phenomenological method, and the BCZT-Li ceramics present large electrocaloric temperature change ∆T, especially large electrocaloric responsibility ξ = ∆Tmax/∆Emax, which can be comparable to the largest values reported in the lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. The excellent electrocaloric effect is considered as correlating with the coexistence of polymorphic ferroelectric phases, which are detected by the Raman spectroscopy. The large ξ value accompanied by decreased Curie temperature (around 73 °C) of the BCZT-Li ceramics prepared by the citrate method presents potential applications as the next-generation solid-state cooling devices

Genetic analysis of whole mitochondrial genome of Lateolabrax maculatus (Perciformes: Moronidae) indicates the presence of two populations along the Chinese coast

The whole mitochondrial genome of Lateolabrax maculatus (Cuvier, 1828) was used to investigate the reasons for the observed patterns of genetic differentiation among 12 populations in northern and southern China. The haplotype diversity and nucleotide diversity of L. maculatus were 0.998 and 0.00169, respectively. Pairwise FST values between populations ranged from 0.001 to 0.429, correlating positively with geographic distance. Genetic structure analysis and haplotype network analysis indicated that these populations were split into two groups, in agreement with geographic segregation and environment. Tajima’s D values, Fu’s Fs tests and Bayesian skyline plot (BSP) indicated that a demographic expansion event may have occurred in the history of L. maculatus. Through selection pressure analysis, we found evidence of significant negative selection at the ATP6, ND3, Cytb, COX3, COX2 and COX1 genes. In our hypotheses, this study implied that demographic events and selection of local environmental conditions, including temperature, are responsible for population divergence. These findings are a step forward toward the understanding of the genetic basis of differentiation and adaptation, as well as conservation of L. maculatus

The effects of early life polyunsaturated fatty acids and ruminant trans fatty acids on allergic diseases: A systematic review and meta-analysis

<p>Early life nutritional exposures could modify the gene expression and susceptibility of allergic diseases (AD). This systematic review aimed to evaluate whether early life (the first 1,000 days) natural exposure to polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and ruminant trans fatty acids (R-TFA) could affect the AD risk. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Scopus, the Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov from inception through September 10, 2017 for relevant full-text articles in English. Observational studies were selected if they examined the effects of early life PUFA or R-TFA on AD (eczema, asthma, wheeze, and allergic rhinitis) or sensitization. The quality of studies was examined by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, and the best evidence synthesis (BES) was applied. We included 26 observational studies, and 8 of them showed high quality. BES showed a moderate evidence for the protective effect of vaccenic acid (VA, an R-TFA) on eczema, while insufficient or no evidence was found in other associations. Meta-analysis showed that higher n-6/n-3 ratio and linoleic acid were associated with higher risk of eczema (pooled odds ratio [OR] = 1.06, 95% confidence intervals [CI]: 1.00 −1.13; 1.08, 95% CI: 1.01 −1.15). However, VA was inversely associated with eczema pooled OR = 0.42, 95% CI: 0.25 −0.72). Early life natural exposure to VA showed evident benefit on decreasing the risk of eczema, while PUFA and other R-TFA showed limited effects on AD. More robust studies especially for R-TFA are required.</p
