    Estimation of properties of low-lying excited states of Hubbard models : a multi-configurational symmetrized projector quantum Monte Carlo approach

    We present in detail the recently developed multi-configurational symmetrized projector quantum Monte Carlo (MSPQMC) method for excited states of the Hubbard model. We describe the implementation of the Monte Carlo method for a multi-configurational trial wavefunction. We give a detailed discussion of issues related to the symmetry of the projection procedure which validates our Monte Carlo procedure for excited states and leads naturally to the idea of symmetrized sampling for correlation functions, developed earlier in the context of ground state simulations. It also leads to three possible averaging schemes. We have analyzed the errors incurred in these various averaging procedures and discuss and detail the preferred averaging procedure for correlations that do not have the full symmetry of the Hamiltonian. We study the energies and correlation functions of the low-lying excited states of the half-filled Hubbard model in 1-D. We have used this technique to study the pair-binding energies of two holes in 4n4n and 4n+24n+2 systems, which compare well the Bethe ansatz data of Fye, Martins and Scalettar. We have also studied small clusters amenable to exact diagonalization studies in 2-D and have reproduced their energies and correlation functions by the MSPQMC method. We identify two ways in which a multiconfigurational trial wavefunction can lead to a negative sign problem. We observe that this effect is not severe in 1-D and tends to vanish with increasing system size. We also note that this does not enhance the severity of the sign problem in two dimensions.Comment: 29 pages, 2 figures available on request, submitted to Phys. Rev.

    In various applications, multiband are desirable. This Paper presents the design of a Quad microstrip patch antenna. For this project is use of quad frequency for GSM and IRNSS band. In this system GSM and IRNSS band combine and use at a one platform. The substrate material FR4 is selected for microstrip patch antenna design. An analysis of the return loss, gain of the proposed antenna is carried out using ADS (Advanced Design System) software. The result shows that the return loss of 22.81 dB is achieved at first resonant frequency of 850-900MHz, 19.54 dB at second resonant frequency of 1.84 GHz, 21.08 dB at third resonant frequency of 1.13 GHz, 20.66 dB at forth resonant frequency of 2.5 GHz

The causative factors of Essential hypertension were Genetic predisposition and environmental factors but these factors are triggered by stress hence it comes under stress related psycho-somatic disorder. In Hypertensive patients, Decrease in 5mm of Hg in SBP and DBP results in decrease in cardiovascular risk, stroke which decreases mortality rate worldwide. The management aspect of modern medical science remains symptomatic with troublesome side effects. The Joint National Committee (JNC 8) guideline advise higher blood pressure goals, less use of several types of antihypertensive medications and suggests lifestyle modification and relaxation are the best initial therapy. In Ayurveda, Shirodhara is one of the panchakarma therapy meant for relaxation and stress reducing procedure mentioned in Dharakalpaas a preventive and curative treatment for many stress related disorders. So, Present study is planned as “A Comparative clinical evaluation of Shirodhara with Sukhos̩n̩ajala, Tila tailam and Brahmitailamin the management of mild to moderate essential hypertension”was selected.     An Initial Value Technique using Exponentially Fitted Non Standard Finite Difference Method for Singularly Perturbed Differential-Difference Equations

    In this paper, an exponentially fitted non standard finite difference method is proposed to solve singularly perturbed differential-difference equations with boundary layer on left and right sides of the interval. In this method, the original second order differential difference equation is replaced by an asymptotically equivalent singularly perturbed problem and in turn the problem is replaced by an asymptotically equivalent first order problem. This initial value problem is solve by using exponential fitting with non standard finite differences. To validate the applicability of the method, several model examples have been solved by taking different values for the delay parameter δ , advanced parameter η and the perturbation parameter ε . Comparison of the results is shown to justify the method. The effect of the small shifts on the boundary layer solutions has been investigated and presented in figures. The convergence of the scheme has also been investigated

    Study of serum lipid profile and magnesium in preeclampsia

    Background: A comparative study of serum lipid profile and magnesium levels in normal pregnancy versus preeclampsia (PE).Methods: A prospective study done for 2 years (October 2014 to October 2016) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Narayana medical college and hospital, a tertiary care centre, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India. A sample size of 200 pregnant women, recruited and divided into group A and B. group A being women with PE and group B is normal pregnant women.A10ml of venous blood was collected in the fasting state and serum collected from clotted blood to measure lipid profile, magnesium, Apo lipoprotein A-I and Apo lipoprotein B 100.Serum Lipid profile  measured by enzymatic method using commercially available kit Human (GmbH Germany) using humastar 600 chemistry analyzer (Human GmbH Germany). Serum magnesium measured by dye binding method using commercially available kit Human (GmbH Germany) using Humastar 600 chemistry analyzer (Human GmbH Germany). Serum ApoA-I and ApoB were measured by immune-turbidometry using commercial kits from Spinreact Spain. Urine albumin done by dipstick method.Results: Serum total cholesterol (TC), Triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), Apo lipoprotein B 100 (Apo B100) were high and serum Magnesium, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and Apo lipoprotein A1(Apo A1) were low in the study group (group A) compared to controls (group B).Conclusions: Abnormal lipid profile (low HDL and increased TG concentration) and serum hypomagnesaemia may be contributing etiologies of preeclampsia, having good predictive value as a screening procedure for PE in high risk pregnant population

    Purification of Lovastatin from Aspergillus terreus (KM017963) and evaluation of its anticancer and antioxidant properties

    Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy in women worldwide and thus one of the leading causes of mortality in women. Lovastatin, a non polar, anticholesterol drug has previously been reported to exert antitumour activity in vitro. In the present study, lovastatin from Aspergillus terreus (KM017963) was purified by adsoprtion chromatography and evaluated for its anticancer and anti-oxidant properties with a human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa). Growth inhibitory and proapoptotic effects of purified lovastatin on HeLa cells were investigated by determining its influence on cell numbers, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), DNA fragmentation and antioxidant properties in terms of hydroxy radical scavenging effects as well as levels of total reduced glutathione. Cell cycle analysis by flow cytometry (propidium iodide staining) confirmed induction of apoptotic cell death and revealed cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase. Results of the study give leads for the anticancer effects of lovastatin and its potential usefulness in the chemotherapy of cervical cance

    NANOPARTICLE FORMULATION OF BIOFLAVONOIDS FOR ENHANCED ANTI-CANCER ACTIVITY

    Among the natural sources, plant origin drugs constitute around 25% which includes various secondary metabolites such as bioflavonoids, alkaloids, terpenes, saponins, glucosides, and lignans. The bioflavonoids belonging to the polyphenol group shows many beneficial effects like hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory and antiviral. The main objective of this article is to collectively present the research data published worldwide about the anticancer activity of bioflavonoids by loading them in novel formulations. Thus, the present review explored the novel formulations of the bioflavonoids with improved pharmacokinetic properties along with the enhanced anticancer activity. The major drawback with bioflavonoids is its poor solubility and bioavailability, which restricts the usage of bioflavonoids in the treatment of cancer in the market worldwide. Novel drug delivery system seems to possess many benefits like site-specific drug delivery along with minimal side effects and improves pharmaceutical and therapeutic properties of drugs compared to a conventional dosage form of bioflavonoids. The scope for improvement of anticancer activity of bioflavonoids by incorporating in novel pharmaceutical formulations like nanoparticles is very high, and it has to be considered as a potential area of research

    Mental health, sleep and quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a correlational study

    Background: Co-morbid psychological impairments (depression and anxiety) are common in COPD and are often associated with increased disability, health care usage and morbidity. They also impair quality of life in COPD and are often not fully explored in the clinical management of COPD patients. Psychological distress may, however, contribute to sleep difficulties in all stages of disease severity. Both anxiety and depression have been shown to have a negative effect on the sleep and quality of life (QoL).Objectives: To study the correlation between depression, anxiety and sleep with quality of life in patients with COPD.Methodology: In a tertiary care hospital, this Observational study was conducted on 39 patients of age group 40-70 years, with spirometry confirmed COPD GOLD category I-IV and smokers with more than 5 years of disease who fulfilled were included  in the study. Quality of life was assessed using SGRQ-C, SF-12 and CAT. Depression, Anxiety and Sleep were assessed using PHQ-9, GAD-7 and PSQI questionnaires respectively. The correlation between quality of life scores and mental health scores were analysed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient.Results: Anxiety was significantly correlated with all the sub domains of SGRQ-C, PCS, MCS of SF-12 and the CAT score. (p value<0.001) Similarly, sleep was significantly correlated with all the three QoL Scales. (p value< 0.001) However, depression significantly correlated with all the subdomains of SGRQ-C and CAT except activity sub-domain of SGRQ-C and MCS of SF-12. (p value<0.001)Conclusion: Anxiety, Depression and Sleep moderately correlated with QoL scores in patients with COPD

    Structural Instability in Polyacene : A Projector Quantum Monte Carlo Study

    We have studied polyacene within the Hubbard model to explore the effect of electron correlations on the Peierls' instability in a system marginally away from one-dimension. We employ the projector quantum Monte Carlo method to obtain ground state estimates of the energy and various correlation functions. We find strong similarities between polyacene and polyacetylene which can be rationalized from the real-space valence-bond arguments of Mazumdar and Dixit. Electron correlations tend to enhance the Peierls' instability in polyacene. This enhancement appears to attain a maximum at U/t3.0U/t \sim 3.0 and the maximum shifts to larger values when the alternation parameter is increased. The system shows no tendency to destroy the imposed bond-alternation pattern, as evidenced by the bond-bond correlations. The cis- distortion is seen to be favoured over the trans- distortion. The spin-spin correlations show that undistorted polyacene is susceptible to a SDW distortion for large interaction strength. The charge-charge correlations indicate the absence of a CDW distortion for the parameters studied.Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures available on reques

    Enhancement of Cellulase Activity from a New Strain of Bacillus subtilis by Medium Optimization and Analysis with Various Cellulosic Substrates

    The cellulase activity of Bacillus subtilis AS3 was enhanced by optimizing the medium composition by statistical methods. The enzyme activity with unoptimised medium with carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) was 0.07 U/mL and that was significantly enhanced by CMC, peptone, and yeast extract using Placket-Burman design. The combined effects of these nutrients on cellulase activity were studied using 22 full factorial central composite design. The optimal levels of medium components determined were CMC (1.8%), peptone (0.8%), and yeast extract (0.479%). The maximum enzyme activity predicted by the model was 0.49 U/mL which was in good agreement with the experimental value 0.43 U/mL showing 6-fold increase as compared to unoptimised medium. The enzyme showed multisubstrate specificity, showing significantly higher activity with lichenan and β-glucan and lower activity with laminarin, hydroxyethylcellulose, and steam exploded bagasse. The optimised medium with lichenan or β-glucan showed 2.5- or 2.8-fold higher activity, respectively, at same concentration as of CMC
