    «FRIENDLY» COMPLAINING BEHAVIORS: TOWARD A RELATIONAL APPROACH

    Get PDF
    The relational approach is often presented as a strategy to retain customers, but it may also be an appropriate approach to encourage customers to complain, as a review of literature shows. Using information contained in complaints and giving the right answers (distributive, procedural and interactional) to such complaints is essential. Relational marketing may also be used to induce customers (but not all of them) to complain about the attributes of certain products/services. This article focuses on these issues and should stimulate further research in this new field.Relationship Marketing; Complaining Behavior; Friendly Complaints, Justice Theory

    Preaspiration in Sienese Italian & Its Interaction with Stress in /VC:/ Sequences

    This paper reports some initial results from our investigation into effects of stress in /VC:/ sequences in Sienese Italian. Our spontaneous speech data show preaspiration in /VC:/ sequences, not previously reported for any variety of Italian. We investigate preaspiration in /VC:/ sequences, and more specifically whether it should be considered a correlate of stress in Sienese Italian, as has been suggested for other languages. In addition we investigate how preaspiration interacts with vowel type, and vowel and consonant duration. We then seek to explain the patterns uncovered

    Des liens et des lieux de mĂ©moire dans la littĂ©rature française contemporaine : "L’Occupation des sols" de Jean Echenoz et "L’EmbardĂ©e ou Les Quartiers d’hiver" de Jean-Paul Goux

    The long-standing inquiry into the literary parameters space/time takes place today on the edge of anthropological thinking. Our approach in this essay will explain such intersection in two contemporary works: a short story by Echenoz, L’Occupation des sols (1988), and a novel by Goux (2005) entitled L’EmbardĂ©e ou les quartiers d’hiver. Following a tripartite perspective, we will observe the need for sons to preserve the bonds with their ancestors, in the form of personal memorials. We will see then that the characters express a relationship between territory and emotions. Finally we will focus on the apprehension of the mythical and historical city, a fantastic and elusive place, a palimpsest always renewed, the romantic city par excellence: ParisEl interrogante ancestral sobre el espacio-tiempo literario debe situarse hoy en los lĂmites del pensamiento antropolĂłgico; este trabajo quiere ilustrarlo mediante el estudio de los vĂnculos afectivos y los espacios en dos obras contemporĂĄneas: un breve relato de Echenoz, L’Occupation des sols (1988), y una novela de Goux (2005) titulada L’EmbardĂ©e ou Les Quartiers d’hiver. Siguiendo una perspectiva tripartita, mostraremos la necesidad para los hijos de preservar los vĂnculos afectivos con sus ancestros fundadores, bajo la forma de espacios fundantes o monumentos; seguidamente veremos que el gusto por lo construido expresa la relaciĂłn entre territorio y afectividad; por Ășltimo estudiaremos la ciudad mĂtica, fantĂĄstica e inasible, el palimsesto siempre renovado, la ciudad novelesca por excelencia: ParĂs.L’interrogation ancestrale sur la spatio-temporalitĂ© littĂ©raire se place aujourd’hui Ă  la lisiĂšre de rĂ©flexions anthropologiques ; c’est ce que montrera notre approche des liens et des lieux dans deux oeuvres contemporaines : un court rĂ©cit d’Echenoz, L’Occupation des sols (1988), et un roman de Goux (2005) intitulĂ© L’EmbardĂ©e ou Les Quartiers d’hiver. Selon une perspective tripartite, nous montrerons la nĂ©cessaire prĂ©servation pour les fils de liens fondateurs avec leurs ascendants, sous la forme de lieux de mĂ©moire ; nous verrons ensuite que le goĂ»t des personnages pour le bĂąti exprime le rapport entre territoire et affectivitĂ© ; enfin, nous nous attacherons Ă  l’apprĂ©hension de la citĂ© mythique, historique, fantasmatique et insaisissable, le palimpseste toujours renouvelĂ©, la ville romanesque par excellence qu’est Paris

    The romantic couple in the novels of Jean-Philippe Toussaint

    Dans une perspective transversale et triaxiale, je vais prĂ©senter la vision toussaintienne du couple amoureux. Dans la premiĂšre partie intitulĂ©e « Poulpes, amour et fantaisie », j’exposerai quelques photographies de couples. Dans « Dans la solitude des draps de coton », je traiterai plus particuliĂšrement du personnage-narrateur, qui s’il n’est pas cĂ©libataire n’en demeure pas moins solitaire endurci : reclus ici ou lĂ , salle de bain, cabinet de toilette ou cabine de tĂ©lĂ©phone, immergĂ© dans la piscine d’un hĂŽtel aussi profondĂ©ment que dans ses pensĂ©es, il incarne l’individu hypermoderne aux prises avec son narcissisme et exprime les difficultĂ©s de vivre en couple comme en sociĂ©tĂ©. Enfin, une troisiĂšme partie, « Les alarmes d’Éros », plus exclusivement consacrĂ©e au cycle dĂ©diĂ© Ă  Marie, montrera la vision douce-amĂšre des coeurs et des corps amoureux, saisie dans l’étroitesse des liens d’Éros avec Thanatos.En el presente artĂculo presentaremos la visiĂłn de Toussaint de la pareja de enamorados. Tras compartir en la primera parte del artĂculo, “Octopus, amor y fantasĂa”, algunas fotografĂas de parejas de enamorados, pasaremos en la segunda parte, “En la soledad de las sĂĄbanas de algodĂłn”, a tratar mĂĄs especĂficamente el narrador-personaje a quien el hecho no estar soltero no le impide ser un solitario empedernido, recluido en el baño, en el aseo o en una cabina telefĂłnica, tan profundamente inmerso en la piscina de un hotel como en sus propios pensamientos. Es la encarnaciĂłn del individuo ultramoderno que, enfrentado con su narcisismo, expresa las dificultades de vivir en la sociedad como pareja. Por Ășltimo, una tercera parte, “Las alarmas de Eros”, muestra la agridulce visiĂłn de corazones y cuerpos enamorados, captada en la estrecha relaciĂłn de Eros y ThĂĄnatos.I will present the vision of Toussaint’s loving couple. In the first part called “Octopus, Love and Dreams”, I will present some photographs of couples. “In solitude in cotton sheets”, I will discuss more specifically the character-narrator, who, despite the fact that he is not single, is none the less recalcitrant in his solitariness; a recluse in the bathroom, toilet or phone booth; immersed in hotel’s swimming pool as deep as in thought, he embodies the hypermodern individual struggling with hisnarcissism, and expressing difficulties of living with a partner. Finally, a third part named “The alarmsof Eros” will show the bittersweet vision of hearts and body, interweaving Eros and Thanatos

    Institutional entrepreneurs as translators : a comparative study in an emerging activity.

    This paper analyzes the reasons why some institutional entrepreneurship strategies failed to translate an institution while other succeeded, by paying a specific attention to the interaction between material and discursive dimensions in the translation process. A theoretical framework integrating both dimensions of translation is first proposed in order to study strategies of competing entrepreneurs. Then a comparative study of three entrepreneurs translating practices of corporate social evaluation in the French context is used to investigate the processes through which competing translators achieved their objective more or less successfully.neo-institutionalisme; translation; corporate social responsibility;

    Actualité, mémoire et romanesque Sur "Equatoria" et "Kampuchéa" de Patrick Deville

    This paper analyzes the last two novels of the French writer Patrick Deville: Equatoria (2009) and KampuchĂ©a (2011). Formalistic, both works are emblematic of the Deville’s new style, and they will be approached from a threefold perspective: it will first identify the generic undecidability of such literature; then it will see how, using current affairs, they offer a reflection on the utopias of the twentieth century and its failures; and finally, it will emphasize the melancholy of history, which is ultimately located on the boundary between literature and epistemology.Este trabajo analiza las dos Ășltimas novelas del escritor francĂ©s Patrick Deville: Equatoria (2009) y KampuchĂ©a (2011). Las dos obras emblemĂĄticas de la escritura devilliana, de carĂĄcter formalista, serĂĄn estudiadas desde tres puntos de vista: se trata en primer lugar, de identificar la indecidibilidad genĂ©rica de tales producciones literarias, capaces de pensar el presente; en segundo lugar, ver cĂłmo, con ayuda de un elemento extraĂdo del curso de la actualidad, dichas obras ofrecen una reflexiĂłn sobre las utopĂas del siglo XX y sus fracasos, y por Ășltimo, hacer hincapiĂ© en la melancolĂa de la Historia que las sitĂșa finalmente, en la frontera de la literatura y la epistemologĂa.Cet article analyse les deux derniers romans de l’écrivain français Patrick Deville : Equatoria (2009) et KampuchĂ©a (2011). Formalistes, les deux oeuvres, emblĂ©matiques de l’écriture devillienne nouvelle, seront apprĂ©hendĂ©es selon un plan triaxial : il s’agira d’abord de cerner l’indĂ©cidabilitĂ© gĂ©nĂ©rique de telles productions littĂ©raires aptes Ă  penser le prĂ©sent, puis de voir comment, Ă  l’aide d’un Ă©lĂ©ment saisi au fil de l’actualitĂ©, elles proposent une rĂ©flexion sur les utopies du XXe siĂšcle et leurs Ă©checs, et enfin de souligner la mĂ©lancolie de l’Histoire qui les situent finalement Ă  la frontiĂšre de la littĂ©rature et de l’épistĂ©mologie
